Suddenly, Wang Chao forgot to evade. He stared intently at the black hole, and at that moment, a humanoid monster sprang out from within. Its eyes were blood-red and filled with veins, as if it were about to bleed. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that the creature was covered in black fur, and its hands resembled massive crab claws, much larger than those of an ordinary crab.
Wang Chao thought to himself that if he were caught by those claws, even a human head could be crushed. Looking up, he saw that the monster's head resembled both a wolf and a lizard, but compared to its shaggy black fur, it was completely bald. A foul stench emanated from it; this was truly a bizarre creature. How could it have emerged from this hole?
The monster spotted Wang Chao and Little Wolf and wasted no time. With a howl, it charged forward. Judging by its appearance, Wang Chao couldn’t discern the creature's true strength. As it lunged at him, he instinctively raised his Panlong Blade to block. The massive claw clamped down on the blade, and Wang Chao pulled back with all his might, exerting five-tenths of his strength in an attempt to sever the monster's claw.
To his surprise, his strike did not cut through the monster's claw. The Panlong Blade, which could slice through iron like mud, proved ineffective against this creature. It seemed the monster's claws were incredibly tough. At that moment, Little Wolf also leaped into action. While the monster was engaged with Wang Chao, it couldn't pull away in time and felt Little Wolf's bite on its arm.
The monster tore at Little Wolf with force, ripping off a large chunk of flesh along with skin. In pain, it abandoned its struggle with Wang Chao and turned its enormous claws toward Little Wolf. The room was cramped; with one person, one wolf, and one monster standing in the middle, there was hardly any space to maneuver. If caught by those claws, losing a layer of skin would be the least of their worries. Seeing this, Wang Chao swung his Panlong Blade forcefully at the monster's arm.
The creature was so focused on capturing Little Wolf that it did not dodge or evade Wang Chao’s attack. It seemed to believe that Wang Chao’s Panlong Blade was no threat after their previous encounter. However, Wang Chao put forth seven or eight-tenths of his strength into this strike, aiming not at its massive claw but at the vulnerable joint of its arm. With one powerful blow, the monster’s arm was severed.
Black blood gushed forth from the wound, emitting an incredibly foul odor.
“Let’s get out of here; it's too cramped! We need to move to the living room!” With that, Wang Chao retreated into the living room first, followed closely by Little Wolf. The monster howled in frustration and charged after them. The living room offered more space; no matter how powerful this creature was, it would struggle against both Wang Chao and Little Wolf together. Even if they couldn't kill it in one blow, they could wear it down.
Sure enough, as the monster burst into the living room swinging its remaining claw with vicious intent in its eyes, it moved swiftly toward them. It didn’t flinch or evade when faced with Wang Chao’s One-Eyed Dragon strike from the Panlong Blade; instead, it used its hard claw to block the attack directly. Wang Chao felt a sharp pain in his hand as if he might lose grip on his blade.
The creature’s strength was formidable; its knees buckled slightly under the force of Wang Chao’s strike. Suddenly, it pushed forward with all its might; its thick legs tensed as muscles bulged beneath its black fur and veins became visible from exertion. Little Wolf leaped from behind and bit down on the creature's shoulder, but it paid no heed and continued pushing forward.
Wang Chao braced himself against the force but still found himself being pushed back relentlessly until he reached the wall. With one foot against it for support and his other hand transforming into a Bone Knife, he slashed diagonally at the unsuspecting monster. Caught off guard by Wang Chao’s sudden move, he managed to sever another one of its arms.
Now both man and monster found themselves without leverage.
Wang Chao had anticipated this moment; he rolled forward to dissipate his momentum while the creature had not expected him to release his grip. Due to inertia, it lunged forward with great force and crashed headfirst into the wall, creating a large hole upon impact. Fortunately, it wasn’t a load-bearing wall; otherwise, there was a real possibility that the entire structure could have collapsed under such force.
Wang Chao focused intently, watching as the monster was on the verge of death. Yet, the weight in his heart had not yet lifted. Outside the collapsed wall, several eerie eyes were peering in—some red, some blue, some yellow, and some green. The sight made Wang Chao's head spin; he had no idea what these creatures were, but they all seemed to have emerged from the hidden door.
A sense of dread washed over Wang Chao. He could handle one monster alongside Little Wolf, but who would have thought there would be so many more lurking outside? The creatures were startled upon seeing Wang Chao and stared wide-eyed at the monster that had burst through the wall, as well as at Wang Chao and Little Wolf inside.
"Run!" Wang Chao shouted urgently.
Their destination was the dark hole beneath the separated bed. There was no time to think about anything else; who knew what awaited them inside? Anything was better than dying out here. With a command, Wang Chao and Little Wolf took off running. The monsters outside quickly reacted, scrambling through the large hole in the wall just as Wang Chao and Little Wolf reached the bedroom.
"Get in!" Wang Chao yelled.
Little Wolf leaped in from a distance, moving like a gymnast as he jumped straight into the dark hole from the bedroom doorway. Wang Chao watched in astonishment. A gust of wind rushed in behind him; he knew the monsters had entered the room. Mimicking Little Wolf's actions, Wang Chao sprinted a few steps before leaping toward the dark hole.
At that moment, he felt a sharp pain in his back. Turning his head, he realized he had been struck by one of the monster's whip-like tongues. The tongue was barbed, but without thinking too much, Wang Chao retaliated with a swift slash of his knife, severing it before tumbling into the dark hole himself. Ignoring the pain in his back, he tossed his Panlong Blade to the ground and transformed his hands into Bone Knives.
With a powerful thrust upward and a firm closure, he managed to reassemble the bed frame. He heard the mechanism click into place and saw that it fit snugly together without needing further support. Only then did Wang Chao release his grip and retrieve his Panlong Blade, strapping it to his back. He surveyed his surroundings; within the dark hole were stairs leading downward, though he had no idea where they led.
He climbed onto Little Wolf's back and said, "Let’s go check for any other exits."
