When Wang Chao first arrived at Coastal, he sensed that the power structure here was somewhat peculiar. The highest official was Zhao Qin, while the military commander was Lin Chuan. However, it seemed that Lin Chuan held a higher position than Zhao Qin. At this point, Zhao Qin was unwilling to even utter a word of reassurance, which indicated that he secretly wanted Wang Chao and Lin Chuan to clash.

On the surface, Zhao Qin dared not touch Lin Chuan, but secretly he wished for Lin Chuan's demise so he could seize military and political power for himself.
This also explained why, during Wang Chao's first visit to Coastal, Zhao Qin had fanned the flames by suggesting a competition between Lin Chuan and Wang Chao. Perhaps Zhao Qin thought it would be best if they both suffered heavy losses, giving him time to reorganize Lin Chuan's subordinates. Understanding this made it less surprising that such a clever person as Zhao Qin chose to remain silent at such a critical moment instead of mediating the conflict.
The Coastal Soldiers who had initially followed Wang Chao's orders to assemble now stopped and looked at both Wang Chao and Lin Chuan, frozen in place. His final words rang out clearly and powerfully, creating an oddly tense atmosphere.
Upon hearing Wang Chao's words, Zhao Qin's expression changed. He realized that Wang Chao was always a clever person; there were layers of meaning in his words. Yet Zhao Qin felt like a mute eating bitter melon—he couldn't express his frustration. If he denied his authority with such a heavy accusation placed upon him, then the Safe Zone would have to heed Lin Chuan's commands in the future. But if he acknowledged his power, given Lin Chuan's intelligence, it would naturally lead to animosity between them.
Caught in a dilemma, Zhao Qin found himself at a loss for words against Wang Chao's maneuvering.
At that moment, Lin Chuan also felt cornered by Wang Chao's remarks. He said defiantly, "This Safe Zone is naturally under my command. Zhao Qin is merely someone I show respect to by calling him Brother Zhao; truthfully speaking, I am the one who calls the shots here!"
Hearing this, Zhao Qin understood that if he remained silent any longer, he would become powerless once he escaped from here. Realizing this made him loathe Wang Chao even more. He quickly replied, "Brother Lin Chuan, don't lose your composure in front of outsiders! You and I are responsible for civil affairs and military matters respectively; neither of us is superior to the other—let's stay calm."
"I only recognize Zhao Qin as my superior. If Lin Chuan continues as the military commander of Coastal, then Jing City will cease all trade with Coastal!" Wang Chao declared.
This statement shocked everyone present. They did not believe they would necessarily die here; however, winter was approaching fast. Without heating supplies, how would they survive? Although they were near the ocean, it was still northern territory—surely they couldn't rely on burning wood to get through it? Despite his low intelligence quotient, Lin Chuan understood the gravity of the situation and found himself at a loss.
"Wang Chao, my brother, you can't say such things!" At this moment, Zhao Qin realized that Wang Chao was trying to force him into a corner. He hurriedly said, "We are all brothers; let's not let temporary disputes ruin our harmony!" Wang Chao smiled inwardly; at first, Zhao Qin hadn't tried to intervene when things were calm but now that trouble had reached his doorstep, he finally stepped in to stop it.
Lin Chuan fell silent, while Wang Chaozhen felt a sense of urgency regarding his intelligence. Despite the hints given, Lin Chuan still seemed clueless about what to do. A spark ignited in Wang Chao's eyes as he uttered the crucial words: "Lin Chuan, in this Safe Zone, if you exist, Zhao Qin cannot; if Zhao Qin exists, you cannot!"
Upon hearing this, Lin Chuan suddenly realized what he needed to do. However, Zhao Qin's expression changed dramatically, turning pale as he pointed at Wang Chao, struggling to find his voice. When he turned to look at Lin Chuan, he found Lin Chuan glaring fiercely at him. "Lin Chuan, you..." Zhao Qin began but didn't finish his sentence before Lin Chuan lunged forward and seized Zhao Qin by the throat.
"This Safe Zone!" Lin Chuan tightened his grip: "It belongs to me!"
Then came a sharp crack as Zhao Qin's neck was snapped. His body crumpled to the ground. Little did Zhao Qin know that the weapon he wielded had ultimately turned against him. Perhaps he would have thought that if he hadn't harbored such ambition or believed himself smarter than Wang Chao, he might have survived.
After confirming that Zhao Qin was lifeless, Wang Chao pointed at Lin Chuan and stammered, "You... you actually killed Brother Zhao Qin! You...!"
"Haha!" At this moment, Lin Chuan still didn't realize he had been used as a pawn. He laughed heartily at Wang Chao and said, "Now you understand, right? This Safe Zone is solely under my control!"
As he spoke, Panlong Blade reappeared in Wang Chao's hand. Before Lin Chuan could react in surprise, the blade struck down, severing Lin Chuan's head from his body. Gasps filled the air as Wang Chao shouted, "Everyone! I have killed Lin Chuan and avenged Brother Zhao Qin! Do not be afraid; I have eliminated the troublemaker in this Safe Zone!"
The crowd was stunned by Wang Chao's declaration. Some perceptive individuals quickly realized that Wang Chao had orchestrated this; with his words, he positioned himself as a hero while casually eliminating two people. His cunning was unfathomable. On the other hand, Wang Chao had shown some kindness to the residents by distributing rations to the elderly and children.
What kind of person is Wang Chao?
Huangfu Yan was right; Wang Chao and he were cut from the same cloth—one victorious and one defeated.
"Coastal Soldier!" Wang Chao sheathed Panlong Blade and continued shouting, "Gather downstairs!"
