At this moment, the Vice Captain had arrived at the building where Little Grudge was located. The security of the building was tight, with armed soldiers standing guard around it. Although there were no searchlights illuminating the upper floors, many guards were stationed inside and on the roof. The Vice Captain glanced at his watch and nodded.
When the Vice Captain arrived, he had already confirmed the location of the Mind Controller. The four Mind Controllers had not completely retreated when they left; they had left a trace of Mental Power following Little Grudge, who remained unaware of it. This was no surprise, as it was a coordinated effort by the four along with Zhang Fusheng in the distance. Little Grudge, having already exhausted a significant amount of Mental Power, was oblivious to their presence.
At that moment, an exhausted Little Grudge lay peacefully asleep in bed. Suddenly, a small gap opened at the door before quickly closing again. No one knew what had happened; the patrolling soldiers on the floor did not notice Little Grudge's door opening and closing. A hand swiftly covered Little Grudge's mouth while another arm wrapped around her from behind.
Little Grudge woke up in shock but found it difficult to escape from her captor's grip. The lights were off, and darkness enveloped her surroundings. Just as she intended to use her unique escape method to transform into a wisp of black mist, a shadow rushed in through the doorway with incredible speed, flipping over to her bedside in an instant. The figure thrust a specialized weapon into the bed but suddenly realized that there was no one there.
Just a minute ago, his watch had indicated that Little Grudge was right there. This meant his actions had been exposed. Without hesitation, he dashed toward the window and crashed through the glass, leaping out. At that moment, the person holding Little Grudge released her; it was Wang Chao, who had arrived just in time. Wang Chao let go of Little Grudge and said, "It should be safe now; there won't be a second wave coming!"
After speaking, Wang Chao jumped out of the window as well. The sound of shattering glass echoed far away, alerting nearby soldiers who turned to see a shadow leap down. Before they could react, they saw that shadow sprinting away, followed closely by another figure—Wang Chao.
"Stand your posts and stay alert!" Wang Chao shouted as he ran. Although Wang Chao knew that this was hardly a feasible plan to draw out enemies—the lack of resources and time made it impossible for anyone else to breach such strong defenses—he moved quickly and soon escaped from one side of the Safe Zone.
"Speed?" Wang Chao sneered before letting out a loud battle cry that echoed through the silent night. Within moments, Little Wolf appeared before him. Wang Chao jumped onto Little Wolf's back and urged him to run ahead. In just two strides, they leaped over the wall. The fleeing figure continued to sprint ahead but after about a thousand meters, Little Wolf caught up.
Feeling the force behind him, the figure jumped sideways to evade Little Wolf's charge. At that moment, Wang Chao also leaped down and nearly landed right in front of him. Little Wolf blocked his escape route as they stood silently under the moonlight, allowing Wang Chao to see the man's appearance and strength clearly.
He was at an intermediate level of extraordinary power—no weaker than Wang Chao himself.
"It seems you are the Vice Captain of that mysterious team," Wang Chao remarked.
The man nodded without saying much more. He pulled out a specially crafted weapon resembling a Military Dagger and said, "Since you've caught up with me, let's not waste words—let's fight!" With that, he charged forward wielding the Military Dagger. Wang Chao nodded; this team seemed willing to do anything for their mission, including sacrificing their own members who had previously tried to ensnare them.
As the words were spoken, the person charged forward, the Military Dagger already thrusting toward him. At that moment, Wang Chao had no time to ask any more questions; it seemed that this was a fight to the death. This realization brought Wang Chao the first wave of tension that often precedes a great battle. He drew his Panlong Blade, and as the Military Dagger struck against its blade, Wang Chao used the force to propel himself forward, extending his Bone Knife directly toward the assailant.
At that instant, the Military Dagger emitted a brilliant light, transferring energy through Wang Chao's Panlong Blade and directly into his hand. The shock nearly caused him to lose grip on the Panlong Blade. It turned out that this Military Dagger could unleash a violent electric current in an instant, sending sharp pains coursing through Wang Chao's body. If he were an ordinary person, he would have thought he had been struck by lightning.
Wang Chao gritted his teeth; since the Panlong Blade was made of metal, it would conduct electricity. It seemed this weapon was not just a momentary shock but continuously delivered a strong electric jolt, causing his hand to tremble uncontrollably and making it nearly impossible to hold onto the blade. However, the Bone Knife was also conductive. If he wanted to avoid being continuously attacked by these electric currents, he had only one choice: to end this fight quickly before he fell.
With that thought in mind, Wang Chao activated his Breathing Technique. He swiftly retracted the Panlong Blade into his Spatial Ring and began moving rapidly. The Vice Captain, witnessing this, sensed that something was terribly wrong. Having spent several months alongside Zhang Fusheng, he had seen this technique used many times before. Although Wang Chao's gestures were slightly different, the pressure and flow of energy felt identical.
Sure enough, after completing these movements in an instant, a powerful gust of air surged forth as if it intended to lift the very ground beneath them. At that moment, Little Wolf had already retreated far away. The fierce airflow acted like a blade of wind, sweeping everything within several meters into its vortex and bearing down on the Vice Captain.
In response, the Vice Captain bit down on the Military Dagger and assumed a stance reminiscent of ancient martial arts, determined to block Wang Chao's ferocious strike head-on.
