Without the allure of the exposed Energy Engine, this wasteland was actually quite safe. Lin Yuan even circled around the abandoned fortress and found nothing unusual.
In the end, he confirmed that the Anzhela Venom Bees must be living in a more distant area. He wondered what other startling changes had occurred on Earth besides these city ruins.
Upon returning to the Abandoned Fortress, Lin Yuan saw that the intelligent mining vehicle was still diligently collecting various metals from the ruins. Following his commands, it began constructing a massive steel entrance. If there was enough energy support, this project would likely be completed in less than half a month.
After inputting another unit of Standard Energy into the mining vehicle, Lin Yuan left it to its work and entered the abandoned fortress through the original Composite Ladder, officially starting his base construction plan.
The first thing Lin Yuan needed to do was conduct a standard survey of the internal environment of this Abandoned Fortress, followed by a detailed search. Although this fortress had suffered severe attacks in the past, there were still many valuable items left.
Once he confirmed that there were no dangers, Lin Yuan divided the entire Abandoned Fortress into roughly five areas, which were actually the divisions established before.
The first area was the Central Management Area, where Lin Yuan had previously been trapped in that large hall and tower. He planned to transform this place into his Assembly and Repair Workshop while also serving as the First Storage Room.
The second area was the Square Area, which was quite large and surrounded the Central Management Area. This square could easily accommodate three Soccer Matches at once. Many remnants of trees and flowers could still be seen, but unfortunately, everything was gone now. This was likely due to the depletion of oxygen on Earth. Lin Yuan had no means to test for it, so he remained uncertain.
Lin Yuan designated this Square Area as a training ground where he could run, do some calisthenics, or practice yoga during his free time. After all, life should be beautiful and one’s mood should be pleasant!
The third area appeared to be the living quarters for any surviving humans within the fortress, specifically on the lowest level. It consisted of rows upon rows of Pigeon Lofts, each only five square meters with a height of less than one and a half meters. They looked more like chicken coops than living spaces. It was chaotic here, with scattered human bones strewn about.
Lin Yuan couldn’t understand why such a cramped space would leave so much open square footage unused.
He speculated that this might reflect a distinction between Rulers and those ruled by them; unfortunately, death seemed to level everyone alike.
This area was quite a headache for Lin Yuan, so he referred to it as the Grocery Area, because there were indeed a lot of messy things inside. He even discovered a heavy machine gun from the 1st century, but unfortunately, it was covered in rust and completely unusable.
Thus, Lin Yuan planned to come back to this Grocery Area to treasure hunt whenever he had time or was extremely bored!
The fourth area was the fortress's security zone, the same place where Lin Yuan had previously taken down three F-Class Ranged Mechanical Warriors. Here, he found an even greater number of F1-level Mechanical Warrior wreckages, probably over a thousand. However, there was not a trace of remaining energy; it seemed that the three upgraded F-Level Mechanical Warriors had collected it all.
Lin Yuan directly named this area the Storage Room No. 1. The space here was still quite large, and after some tidying up, it would be perfect for storing the supplies he would collect from Ruined City in the future.
Unfortunately, Lin Yuan did not find anything surprising in this area. He had hoped there might be some heavy weapons here, but now it seemed they must have all been destroyed!
Until he reached the fifth area, which was the fortress's Deep Storage Area. The entrance to this storage zone was very concealed and located underground. It required passing through multiple layers of security in the security zone to reach a corner where an Alloy Door with an Enhancement Level of 5 stood.
What surprised Lin Yuan was that this storage area's main door showed no signs of being attacked, meaning that the supplies inside were likely intact!
This was undoubtedly something that excited Lin Yuan immensely. Without hesitation, he began to force his way in. An Enhancement Level of 5 might withstand the bombardment of a .15 caliber cannon, but it couldn't withstand Lin Yuan's Laser Gun combined with Alloy Spike. In less than two minutes, he cut out an entrance large enough for him to pass through.
In his mind, he chuckled triumphantly. Lin Yuan felt elated; in his previous life, what he yearned for most was to rob a bank—violently cutting open safes and dancing with joy at piles of cash. Unfortunately, he never had the guts to do it. Now being able to fulfill his dream in a similar way made him incredibly happy!
Of course, excitement aside, Lin Yuan did not dare to let his guard down. His Auditory Radar continuously scanned the surroundings while all four Laser Guns entered charging mode. The Intelligence Matrix operated rapidly; if even a single living creature appeared—no matter if it was just a cockroach—he would launch a lethal strike at the first opportunity!
Better to kill wrongly than to let anything escape!
At that moment, what appeared on Lin Yuan's Auditory Radar was a deep corridor. From a 1st-century perspective, it definitely looked like something from a high-tech future. Strangely enough, the Energy System here was still operational. As soon as Lin Yuan walked through, the originally dark corridor instantly became brightly lit. Then a very sweet and captivatingly soft female voice echoed through the space.

“What the hell! Bird language! I can’t understand a thing!”

However, as Lin Yuan reached the end of the corridor, the anticipated danger never materialized. It was completely safe. At that moment, he suddenly recalled that from a human perspective, this storage room was already heavily protected. Outside, there were thousands of Mechanical Warriors guarding it, and the entrance door was made of Alloy with an Enhancement Level of 5. Even with extraordinary abilities, it couldn’t be opened under normal circumstances, so there was no need to design any traps inside.
If they couldn’t even defend the outside, then no amount of defense inside would matter!
