In the next moment, Lin Yuan's Second Audio-Visual Radar began its search. After a thorough scan, nothing was found; the town under the sunlight was desolate, with no other suspicious objects in sight.
However, the faint sounds relayed by his Auditory Radar grew closer, as if something was about to appear right beneath him! It felt like a scene from a horror movie where one cannot see the ghost but can always hear it whispering right behind their ear.
At that moment, Lin Yuan was on high alert. His Auditory Radar scanned frantically, yet the results showed no abnormalities around him. There was only one possibility left: underground!
With that thought, Lin Yuan raised his First Mechanical Arm, and the modified Flying Drill shot out of the window, embedding itself into the roof of a building across the street.
Just then, as the faint sounds drew nearer, he leaped out of the window, using the tension of the Flying Drill's rope to propel himself onto the rooftop of the opposite building.
Almost simultaneously, a massive hole suddenly appeared in the ground where Lin Yuan had been standing. It erupted like an oil well, spewing forth a thick black liquid that corroded everything in its path!
Lin Yuan felt his head buzz with shock as he realized what this so-called oil-like liquid truly was: it was swarms of mechanical black ants, each about the size of a palm and clad in metallic armor!
These creatures were not only mutated into semi-mechanical beings but were also notorious for their ferocity on Earth before.
Without a doubt, his presence had attracted these demons. No wonder he felt something was amiss in this town yesterday; all metallic items, including buildings, had vanished. Beneath this town lay an incredibly terrifying ant nest!
At that moment, Lin Yuan dared not linger any longer. He retracted the Flying Drill and turned to flee; these mutated Mechanical Ants were certainly more vicious than Colin Red Hornet! It would be wise to escape as soon as possible.
He dashed out of the town, but before Lin Yuan could catch his breath, his Auditory Radar transmitted information about what was happening behind him. A horde of mutated Mechanical Ants showed no intention of letting him go; countless numbers were emerging from underground, rushing toward him like a wave of darkness. They moved quickly, devouring every building in their path.
Impressed by their speed, Lin Yuan initially dismissed it because he always managed to outrun these ants. However, he soon realized he was gravely mistaken. If these mutated Mechanical Ants crawled individually, their speed would only be about three to four kilometers per hour at most.
But these were the Mechanical Ants; they could actually assemble and connect with each other. Under Lin Yuan's astonished gaze, two of these Mechanical Ants combined to form a larger ant, which then transformed into a Super Large Ant. After assembling a dozen times, what appeared in Lin Yuan's Auditory Radar was a massive swarm of over a hundred Giant Mechanical Black Ants, each as large as a dog! Their speed was impressive, nearly matching Lin Yuan's running pace.
Lin Yuan's shock was palpable. While cursing the perverse nature of these Mechanical Ants in his mind, he adjusted the angle of his Mechanical Body. As he ran and jumped, he raised his Laser Sniper Rifle and locked onto one of the Giant Mechanical Black Ants. With just one shot, he shattered the assembled mechanical black ant.
"Heh heh! Is that all you've got?"
Seeing this scene, Lin Yuan was overjoyed. Taking advantage of the long-range capability of the Laser Sniper Rifle, he quickly blasted apart all of the more than a hundred giant black ants!
However, just when he thought everything was fine, the black wave in the distance began to gather again. This time, they assembled into even larger mechanical black ants, as big as a cow, and their running speed quickly surpassed Lin Yuan's, closing in behind him!
"Damn it! What the hell!"
Lin Yuan realized something was wrong. Those Mechanical Ants seemed to possess remarkable Mechanical Assembly capabilities. If they continued this way, they could easily form a colossal ant, and then it would be his turn to face disaster!
Without hesitation, Lin Yuan immediately opened fire with his Sniper Rifle. This time, it was much harder to take down the assembled Giant Mechanical Ants; it took several shots to break them apart. By the time he managed to disperse those dozens of Giant Mechanical Ants, they had already chased him down to within five hundred meters!
Moreover, these Mechanical Ants seemed to have a learning ability. As soon as one group was dispersed here, another group began assembling over there, creating a cycle that allowed them to continuously close in on Lin Yuan!
This made Lin Yuan secretly lament his situation. He had set out with high hopes for adventure but ended up encountering this group of perverse Mechanical Ants. Was he destined to perish before achieving anything?
Fortunately, although Lin Yuan was terrified, the unique properties of his Mechanical Body kept him from losing his composure. Realizing that it was difficult to break apart those Giant Mechanical Ants again, he quickly changed his strategy and chose to target their thigh joints. With this approach, Lin Yuan managed to increase the distance between himself and the ants! Moreover, he seemed to notice a detail: as long as he didn't break them apart, they wouldn't actively disband and reassemble.
This discovery put Lin Yuan in a great mood, so he specifically targeted the thick legs of the Mechanical Ants, breaking three legs of each Giant Mechanical Ant. This way, their speed was reduced to a minimum, and they could no longer disband and reassemble; they could only chase behind like an old ox pulling a cart.
With a hearty laugh, Lin Yuan prepared to make his escape. He thought that this time, he should have no problem shaking off these mutated ants—unless they could chase him for five hundred kilometers.

For example, the Anzhela Venom Bee and the Mutated Mechanical Mouse could detect prey from several kilometers away. Not to mention these strange Mechanical Ants; if they had already locked onto him, they would definitely pursue him to his lair.
What to do? If that were the case, wouldn't it be impossible to shake off these mutated Mechanical Ants no matter how far he ran? Or could he lead them to the lair of even fiercer Mechanical Creatures? But that would likely mean his own demise first.
In an instant, Lin Yuan's mind was in chaos, overwhelmed by pressure. As he pondered, he looked back at the Giant Mechanical Ants that were still relentlessly pursuing him. Suddenly, an idea struck him. They were just ants after all; while they came in swarms and he couldn't take them on directly, what if it was just a handful?
With this thought in mind, Lin Yuan turned around and fired a shot, blasting apart one Giant Mechanical Ant. As he waited for the disbanded Mechanical Ants to reassemble, he chuckled to himself. Now, let's take care of this lone fellow first!
