After quickly uncovering the true nature of the vast Mechanical City, known as the Merchant of Annihilation, Lin Yuan lost all interest in examining the seemingly impressive finished goods. What a joke; the markup on those items was undoubtedly over 1000%. With that realization, he certainly wouldn’t become a victim of this Big Head.
With this understanding, Lin Yuan even lost interest in the semi-finished Parts. He focused directly on raw materials because he couldn’t guarantee that these Parts weren’t inflated in price. Moreover, he believed that for the same cost, he could actually purchase higher quality raw materials and then craft them into Parts himself, which would be far better.
This time, he needed to modify the Mechanical Body with many high Enhancement Level materials and those with a good Civic Induction Transmission Rate. Therefore, spending more time working on these details would surely yield better results in the end.
However, as a super Merchant of Annihilation, how could Mechanical City not anticipate such situations? After browsing through, Lin Yuan found that there were only about a hundred types of raw materials available, and they were either of very low quality or required precision processing and special techniques to create. There were none of the premium raw materials he desired.

Unable to find the necessary raw materials, Lin Yuan had no choice but to spend more Mechanical Coins on those semi-finished Parts. Most of them were meant to replace Mechanical Legs and Mechanical Arms, as well as Parts used for supporting walking Systems. Specifically, these Parts belonged to a lower tier and had mediocre quality; according to their parameters, their Enhancement Levels could reach above 18 points.
Yet even so, this seemingly small collection of Parts drained Lin Yuan’s 440,000 Mechanical Coins completely dry, and he still couldn’t purchase some of the Parts he needed.
This only fueled Lin Yuan’s hatred for the Merchant of Annihilation in Mechanical City even more.
But for now, there was nothing he could do about it.
After exiting the Trading Platform, Lin Yuan immediately began his modifications. Starting with the most basic Mechanical Legs again, this time he ensured that the modified Mechanical Legs maintained their jumping capability but wouldn’t take on a zigzag shape and wouldn’t be too flimsy either.
The core of these Mechanical Legs was no longer based on a simple physical spring model; instead, he changed it to an energy conversion Ejection Device, meaning it would be much more powerful.
The two Ejection Devices were purchased by Lin Yuan from the Trading Platform, each costing fifty thousand Mechanical Coins. They were the most expensive parts he had bought, but there was no way around it; he simply couldn't master the complex modifications and assembly of such parts yet.
Each Ejection Device had a power output of 15, which translated to a launch force of approximately 1,000 kilograms on Earth. With two Ejection Devices, that amounted to 4,000 kilograms. However, this was not the full explosive power of his Mechanical Legs, as the Ejection Devices were merely intended to assist in jumping. The real force came from Lin Yuan's Energy Engine. For instance, his Knee Strike Skill could easily deliver an impact force between 5,000 and 8,000 kilograms before any modifications.
The complexity lay not just in the devices themselves but in their compatibility with his Intellect and the control over each launch action. It was impossible to maintain maximum power for every jump; otherwise, he would end up resembling a Mechanical Rabbit.
Thus, he needed to lift weights effortlessly and walk normally. In complex situations, he had to dodge effectively—determining the direction and force of each launch was a complicated calculation. After all, in close combat, even a centimeter of error could lead to death.
Controlling this aspect was the core essence of the two Ejection Devices. According to their specifications, they could ensure a reaction time of 0.05 seconds, allowing for thirty different forces and angles of launch per second. It sounded impressive.
However, Lin Yuan was not satisfied. In close combat—especially since he had chosen jumping as his primary combat instinct—he needed more than just mechanical jumps; he required an incredibly agile mode of movement. Whether jumping or performing other actions, speed and precision were paramount to maximize his combat effectiveness.
For now, Lin Yuan did not fully understand the specific structure of the Ejection Devices or how they would perform in use. He planned to modify them personally after some time.
With these two Ejection Devices, the power issue for his Mechanical Legs was resolved. Next came the design considerations; Lin Yuan aimed for a load capacity under 200 kilograms while ensuring normal jump height and a running speed of no less than 20 kilometers per hour.
Additionally, he wanted to incorporate some aesthetically pleasing elements.
Ultimately, the general shape of these Mechanical Legs took form: three segments with a height of about 1.5 meters. The first segment measured 70 centimeters and served primarily as support while also housing a storage toolbox and serving as support points for the Fourth Mechanical Arm and the second mechanical form.
The second segment was 60 centimeters long and purely for support, while the third segment measured 20 centimeters and housed the two Ejection Devices—resulting in an overall Enhancement Level of 18 points.
After assembling everything and confirming there were no flaws, Lin Yuan used two Modification Points to connect the Mechanical Legs to his waist. This was a very economical use of Modification Points; otherwise, if he had used them solely for modifying these legs, it would have taken at least ten points to achieve this effect.
Of course, Lin Yuan could have opted not to use those two Modification Points since what he had assembled was already quite perfect and could directly integrate with his entire Mechanical Body.
However, there is a problem here, which is the issue of adaptability. Even the most perfectly assembled mechanical components require time to integrate into the entire Mechanical Body System.
It's like these two Mechanical Legs; if Lin Yuan does not use Modification Points, he would need at least a whole year of continuous training to fully adapt them to the Mechanical Body. However, if he uses Modification Points, he can skip this troublesome adaptation process.
Once the two Mechanical Legs are modified, the next step is to upgrade the First and Second Mechanical Arms.
These two modifications are relatively simpler because Lin Yuan has already done most of the work beforehand. He only needs to install three movable joints and a pair of multifunctional Mechanical Arms.
These three movable joints correspond to the shoulder joint, elbow joint, and wrist joint, but they are not human arms.
In Lin Yuan's design, the three joints of the Mechanical Arms must first withstand tremendous impact forces since these are the most vulnerable areas. Secondly, flexibility is also a concern. Therefore, the range of motion for the shoulder joint is three hundred and twenty degrees, which is quite responsive. He had considered designing it with a full range of seven hundred and twenty degrees, but such a sensitive joint would lack sufficient explosive power. Achieving that level would require much more complex modifications.
As for the elbow joint, its range of motion is two hundred degrees, which is fairly standard.
The most complex part is the wrist joint, which has a range of three hundred and sixty degrees of motion, aiming to closely resemble human functionality. Additionally, adjustments were made so that it can hold the Hunter's Longsword while also being able to use a Laser Pistol.
This is currently the best solution Lin Yuan can think of and assemble.
