"Damned rabbits!"
At this moment, five kilometers away from the previous battlefield, Lin Yuan cursed in frustration. That brief encounter had left him utterly humiliated; he had barely escaped like a rat fleeing from a flood of fireballs.
Now, he finally understood why those seemingly fierce Mutated Mechanical Beasts could coexist peacefully with these Mechanical Rabbits. The reason was simple: they possessed formidable Attack Power!
Fortunately, he wasn't returning empty-handed. The head of the Mechanical Rabbit he had decapitated was now in his possession.
According to the data collected and analyzed by the Intelligent Brain Encyclopedia, this creature was also known as the Fire Plush Rabbit. So, despite its rabbit-like appearance, it wasn't actually a rabbit. Moreover, it wasn't native to Earth; it had been introduced by Earth Humans from another planet before the Energy Crisis, and its exact purpose remained unclear.
This information made Lin Yuan feel uneasy. The massive island was undeniably strange: the terrifyingly tall Active Volcano, the Mutated Fire Crow that triggered the Energy Crisis, the Fire-Resistant Reed brought in from outer space, and now this Fire Plush Rabbit!
Was it all just a coincidence?
Lin Yuan certainly didn't believe so. He even suspected that the Mutated Fire Crow had also been deliberately imported by Earth Humans, only for something to go wrong, ultimately leading to the catastrophic Energy Crisis that obliterated Earth's biological System.

This time he wouldn't be fooled; as soon as he decapitated one of them, he would make a swift escape. He refused to believe that persistence wouldn't eventually wear down these damned creatures!
Moreover, these creatures truly lived up to their reputation as gluttons. It hadn't been long before they dove back into their feast. Did they think stopping for even a moment would kill them?
The scene was almost identical to before; the Fire Plush Rabbits screamed as they began launching fireballs. Yet, they still struggled to hit Lin Yuan, who was moving in an S-shape. This time, however, Lin Yuan had gained some experience and wasn't as panicked as before. As he approached within a hundred meters of the Fire Plush Rabbits, his Second Form Mechanical Body began to slow down, and the front wheels lifted slightly.
With such high-speed momentum, the first driving wheel of his Mechanical Body lifted off the ground, while the second wheel quickly braked.
Then, propelled by inertia, Lin Yuan's entire Second Form Mechanical Body soared into the air, reaching a height of over ten meters in an instant.
"Now's my chance!"
Lin Yuan commanded directly within his Intellect, initiating the transformation to his First Combat Form. Since he was airborne, this transformation lacked the awkwardness it had previously exhibited; in fact, it even looked somewhat cool—at least in his own opinion.
However, just a moment later, as his First Combat Form was only halfway transformed and his movements were still incomplete, he crashed heavily back to the ground, rolling over four or five times before regaining his ability to move!
Despite the clumsiness of it all, Lin Yuan felt a surge of excitement and shouted joyfully. He wasn't afraid of disastrous outcomes; what he feared was stagnation. As long as there was even a slight change, it proved he was growing!
With a whoosh, Lin Yuan's Mechanical Body sprang back into action, charging straight into the midst of the Fire Plush Rabbits. He now understood that these creatures were incredibly weak in close combat; their only means of attack was self-detonation. Therefore, he needed to choose the right moment!
In an instant, the Hunter's Longsword from Lin Yuan's Mechanical Arms flew up and down repeatedly, slicing off tails and claws from each Fire Plush Rabbit without sparing their ears either.
In short, he aimed not to inflict fatal damage on these Fire Plush Rabbits. This way, they likely wouldn't self-destruct either—each getting what they needed; how harmonious!
This was far more rewarding than simply claiming a single head!
However, moments later, the Fire Plush Rabbits clearly sensed something was amiss. They finally erupted in rage once more. One of them screamed and initiated another self-detonation. Although Lin Yuan managed to block some of it with his Feathered Shield, he still ended up being blasted away and found himself fleeing in a chaotic retreat once again.
Compared to the last battle, Lin Yuan was now laughing heartily in his heart; it was truly wonderful! Those damned creatures must have run out of tricks!
In the following time, Lin Yuan set his sights on a group of over a hundred Fire Plush Rabbits. Relying on his speed, he struck swiftly, taking off one head at a time. Before the Fire Plush Rabbit could self-destruct, he would turn and escape, allowing him to remain unscathed.
Another unexpected gain was that under his Second Form, he had become increasingly adept at switching to First Combat Form at high speeds. He no longer found himself in a desperate situation as he had in the beginning, which undoubtedly enhanced his adaptability in battle.
The other rewards were also quite substantial. Although each attack only netted him one Fire Plush Rabbit's head, the Standard Biological Alloy he extracted was impressive. So far, he had refined a total of 1 gram of Standard Biological Alloy, bringing him closer to completing that Subbase Mission.
Even more delightful was that the Fire Plush Rabbits, true to their gluttonous nature, continued to munch on Fire-Resistant Reed despite their dwindling numbers. Often, as soon as Lin Yuan escaped two kilometers away, they acted as if nothing had happened and resumed their feasting. Their level of intelligence made Lin Yuan feel somewhat embarrassed.
However, when the total number of Fire Plush Rabbits that Lin Yuan had cleared dwindled to just thirty, they mysteriously vanished or perhaps fled.
Although Lin Yuan felt some suspicion about this, he didn't dwell on it for long because at that moment, he discovered a new target to attack: a peculiar Mechanical Beast. This creature resembled a Squirrel, was relatively small, agile in its movements, and capable of gliding with incredible speed.
Most importantly, this creature seemed quite intelligent. During the past few days while Lin Yuan had been harvesting those Fire Plush Rabbits, he often noticed this particular creature observing him from a distance and even following him stealthily; it was quite strange.
Yet whenever Lin Yuan dared to approach within two kilometers of it, it would immediately flee—extremely cunning indeed.
