What Lin Yuan needed now was time, and the sooner, the better!
Due to the complete blockade of the elevator passage by the Mutants, he couldn't take the most convenient route and had to charge down from one area to another.
As a result, although it would take him much longer to reach his target, the resistance from the Mutant Guards became relatively weaker. After all, even Lin Yuan at this moment would find it troublesome if he suddenly encountered dozens of fully armed Mutant Guards.
Throughout this process, the unmanned spy drone that maintained a distance of three kilometers ahead provided significant assistance to Lin Yuan, especially under Claire's control, making it feel like a fish in water!
Additionally, Lin Yuan had recently mastered a gliding function. Although the distance of this glide was not far, it was agile and quick. Combined with his jumping ability, he could achieve an average speed of one hundred fifty kilometers per hour without needing to switch combat forms, allowing him to engage in battle instantly—truly marvelous.
During his downward advance, Lin Yuan encountered at least a dozen Mutant blocking squads. Unfortunately for them, they were swiftly taken down by his gliding jumps and spinning slashes, unstoppable as if cutting through bamboo!
Of course, those Mutants were not pushovers. Upon realizing that Lin Yuan's target was heading downward, they immediately called for reinforcements and set up defenses in key positions.
When Lin Yuan burst into a passage just one level away from the Ninth District, he was finally stopped by over a hundred Mutant Guards. Despite having the unmanned spy drone scouting ahead, he nearly charged into a massive firepower net. The Mutants were furious; regardless of whether their weapons were light or heavy, they formed an enormous crossfire net in front of him. There was no way Lin Yuan could break through; otherwise, in less than two seconds, he would likely be turned into a sieve!
Among them were two E1-level Hunters flanking him on both sides, preparing to trap Lin Yuan here. Above them, large numbers of Mutant Guards were also closing in. In this situation, it wouldn't take three minutes before he would be caught like a fish in a barrel!
"What a wonderful feeling! To reciprocate is only proper; please savor this!"
Lin Yuan sighed inwardly and decisively recalled the unmanned spy drone while re-enslaving Claire's program back into the Intelligence Matrix node. Now, he was ready to make a big move.
Without any hesitation, Lin Yuan took out four micro rocket launchers in one breath. These devices were no different from laptops of the 21st century. During his earlier descent, he had collected quite a few of them, and now they were just right for use.
Of course, even though these devices had guidance systems, they were still lifeless objects that could only launch after successfully locking onto a target. Therefore, while the Mutants blocked the entrance to the passage ahead, they did not see Lin Yuan's presence and could not lock onto him.
But Lin Yuan was different; with the help of the unmanned spy drone to assist in locking on, it was no problem at all!
The only key issue he needed to resolve was connecting the Micro Rocket Launcher’s locking system with his Second Audio-Visual Radar for simultaneous operation.
This task was not particularly difficult but also not simple. If it were another Mechanical Warrior here, they might be at a loss. However, for Lin Yuan—a proud Level 6 Repair Assembly Apprentice—this kind of task was hardly challenging.
Hiding in a corner, Lin Yuan quickly took out various repair assembly tools and began assembling and connecting them with unimaginable speed.
This action could be elevated to an art form because over the past few decades, Lin Yuan had disassembled and assembled countless parts. As a result, he had honed such skills—comparable to the concept of carving an ox with precision!
Simply put, his pair of Mechanical Arms reacted with incredible speed and sensitivity. Normally, it would take even a highly skilled human technician several minutes to disassemble a Part, but he only needed a few seconds and could perform various tricks with remarkable adaptability.
However, there was a conceptual misunderstanding here: if it were a specially designed high-precision machine assembly line, the speed of disassembling and assembling Parts could absolutely match or even exceed Lin Yuan's speed. This was beyond doubt!
The problem lay in the fact that no matter how high-precision the machines were, they were still lifeless objects that operated strictly according to pre-set programs. They were not alive and could do nothing outside their predetermined functions!
Thus, comparing an assembly line of circuit boards to Lin Yuan, a Mechanical Life, was undoubtedly a foolish idea—like a fool who wouldn't turn back after hitting a wall.
Describing it as "a summer insect cannot discuss winter" would be an understatement...
In less than three seconds, the first Micro Rocket Launcher successfully connected to the Second Audio-Visual Radar, followed by the second, third, and fourth!
At the moment the fourth Micro Rocket Launcher established its connection, Lin Yuan had already launched an unmanned spy drone. After swiftly navigating several turns, it headed straight for the temporary encampment of over a hundred Mutant Guards!
Although the drone was instantly destroyed, it simultaneously helped Lin Yuan and the Second Audio-Visual Radar pinpoint the exact locations of those Mutants.
Then, the four Micro Rocket Launchers that had successfully connected to the Second Audio-Visual Radar fired simultaneously. Each Micro Rocket Launcher could launch eighteen cigarette-sized guided rockets in an instant, boasting significant power and wide coverage. In such a confined area as this Underground Base, the effects were unimaginable!
As the whistling sounds echoed, dozens of dazzling rocket barrages shot out like fireworks, skillfully maneuvering around several sharply curved passages before heading straight for the Mutant Guards' positions!
Despite at least half of the rockets being destroyed by crossfire in the first instance, half still managed to reach their targets. Amidst the massive explosions, everything turned to dust and rubble!
The only noticeable change was in Lin Yuan's Slaughter A Plan; the mission to eliminate zero Mutants was suddenly over halfway completed!
The tremendous explosions created a magnificent symphony that affected all nearby Mutants to varying degrees. Only Lin Yuan remained unscathed; without pausing for a moment, he dashed past this Checkpoint and charged toward the observation platform on the lowest level!
This move caught all the Mutants off guard because Ninth District was truly the main entrance to leave this base. Therefore, it was heavily guarded. In contrast, that observation platform was merely a dead end with no escape routes.
Because of this, Lin Yuan encountered only a few unfortunate Mutant Guards along his way; everything seemed remarkably smooth!
However, when Lin Yuan finally stepped onto that exceptionally unique observation platform, an eerie sense of danger suddenly surged in his mind. Right in the most conspicuous spot on the platform stood a man in a sharp suit who appeared to be leisurely admiring the volcanic lava erupting outside.
What truly terrified and unsettled Lin Yuan was that this man looked like an ordinary Earthling—about 1.9 meters tall with a slender build—indistinguishable from Earthlings of the 21st century. Coupled with his nonchalant demeanor, Lin Yuan felt an overwhelming sense of temporal dislocation!
Lin Yuan had not encountered a normal human since his awakening; everyone he had seen was either a mutated Mechanical Monster or a Mutated Clone injected with some special hormone. He had never come across a regular person!
If this were anywhere else, Lin Yuan might have been unable to resist the urge to rush forward and embrace someone in excitement. However, here in this perilous Underground Base, the appearance of a normal Earthling was nothing short of bizarre.
Without hesitation, Lin Yuan activated his Dual Wing Shield while simultaneously locking onto the man's head with his Heavy Sniper Rifle.
In the next moment, the man turned around, wearing a smile devoid of any surprise or panic. He was a young Caucasian man, radiating sunshine and charm, with a hint of mischief in his grin. Lin Yuan found him somewhat familiar; he recalled that this guy resembled Claire and appeared frequently in her photos. He must be a relative, perhaps Claire's brother.
"Esteemed Executive, you truly surprise me," the man said fluently in Mandarin. "I must admit, I underestimated you at first. But it turns out you are more difficult to deal with than the previous three Esteemed Executives. Otherwise, I would never have given you any room to grow. However, now that you've earned my respect through your strength, I offer you a chance for peaceful resolution. If you swear loyalty to the Sandrew Family, I can guarantee you a pleasant life on this planet instead of being treated like a rat!"
Despite the man's friendly demeanor, Lin Yuan felt an increasing sense of danger. After contemplating for a moment, he decided to release Claire from her confinement within the Intelligence Matrix node. Since she couldn't speak, this was the only way for her to communicate.
Before Lin Yuan could say anything, the man froze and exclaimed, "Claire! How... damn it! You bastard! You killed my sister!"
The sudden appearance of the program seemed to trigger something within him. In an instant, the man's body—previously resembling that of a normal Earthling—began to swell and mutate rapidly. In no time at all, he transformed into a towering monster standing around five meters tall. His muscles expanded dramatically, and his body was covered in hard black scales reminiscent of Fire Crow scales but noticeably weaker. Four black wings sprouted from his back, and his once handsome face twisted into something terrifying.
As for his limbs, they morphed into sharp black claws capable of instilling fear in anyone who laid eyes on them! (To be continued.)
