As Lin Yuan burst out of the laboratory, a hail of bullets greeted him. Dozens of Mutant Guards were stationed ahead, launching a frenzied attack, and in the distance, even more Mutant Guards were rushing toward him, as if he had stirred a hornet's nest.
At this moment, Lin Yuan had no other choice. If the powerful Uralmo managed to calm down from his panic and either commanded the others or escaped to the Battle Machine, the sheer number of approaching Mutant Guards would surely claim his life.
Thus, he did not hesitate for a moment. While activating the Dual Wing Shield to deflect most of the Mechanical Body's attacks, he charged forward with all his might. In just a few hundred meters, his Health Points dropped by over two hundred.
However, Lin Yuan was now strong enough. The Dual Wing Shield blocked most of the incoming fire. As he closed in, he unleashed a Charge Slash followed by a spinning slash, taking down over ten Mutant Guards in one go. Not wanting to linger in battle, he swiftly transformed into his Second Form and charged ahead aggressively. He could not afford to get caught up in meaningless skirmishes; he needed to reach the flying platform or catch up with Uralmo while most of the Mutant Guards were still unaware of what was happening.
Only then would he have a chance to escape; otherwise, the countless Mutant Guards within Sea King Base would be more than enough to overwhelm him.
Lin Yuan's decision was both accurate and timely. Uralmo was not the true commander of Sea King Base. Although he shouted for reinforcements, it was nowhere near as effective as Demeir's orders. Many Mutant Guards surged toward the laboratory upon hearing that Demeir had been killed.
After transforming into his Second Form, Lin Yuan quickly closed in on Uralmo but did not attempt to eliminate him. Instead, he accelerated toward the flying platform, benefiting from Claire's internal program that had already calculated the exact location of the platform.
Once free, he charged straight for the target!
Although Uralmo was a powerful e-Class Mechanical Warrior, his speed could not match Lin Yuan's Second Form, allowing Lin Yuan to pull far ahead.
At that moment, Uralmo was furious. He and Demeir were both strong fighters, including that old man with glasses. If Lin Yuan had engaged them head-on without using stealth tactics, even wielding the Blue Light Weapon would have resulted in more losses than victories for him. However, due to the sudden deaths of both the Glasses Old Man and Demeir and the overwhelming effect of Lin Yuan's Lightning Tear attack, Uralmo was momentarily stunned. He did not realize that Lin Yuan's powerful Lightning Tear attack was not limitless; it had a time constraint.
By the time Uralmo came to this realization, it was too late—Lin Yuan had already reached him and seemed very familiar with the layout of the area.
"Seal off the flying platform! Full lockdown!"
He could only run with all his strength while shouting orders. Yet even with his second mutation Mechanical Body being exceptionally strong, it could not outrun Lin Yuan's Second Form motorcycle that exceeded speeds of four hundred fifty kilometers per hour.
In less than ten seconds, the flying platform at Sea King Base appeared on Lin Yuan's Auditory Radar.
At that moment, the Mutant Guards on the flying platform were fully alert. However, they were caught off guard by Lin Yuan's rapid appearance; before they could establish their Firepower lockdown, Lin Yuan's Second Form surged forward like a whirlwind!
At that moment, twenty Phantom Fighters were parked on the flight platform, but the only thing Lin Yuan noticed was a sleek, pitch-black Battle Machine, resembling a swift swallow.
With Lin Yuan's experience, he immediately recognized that this Battle Machine was extraordinary, possibly even more powerful than Mouse One.
His first thought was to rush towards the Battle Machine to escape. However, as he charged forward, he suddenly switched to First Combat Form. A Charge Slash struck the Battle Machine's hull, creating a large hole, followed by a spinning slash that tore it apart. Finally, he unleashed a barrage from the Rocket Launcher, obliterating the Battle Machine completely. For at least a short time, it would be impossible for that Battle Machine to take off!
The reason for this was simple: Lin Yuan deemed it unsafe. This flashy Battle Machine must belong to either Demeir or Uralmo. If he were in their position and this were his own Battle Machine, he would certainly leave behind some details that only he could control. After all, that's how he had set up Mouse One; it worked perfectly when he piloted it himself, but if someone else tried to operate it, it would explode immediately!
Thus, he preferred to destroy it rather than take that risk.
In comparison, he favored the original form of Mouse One, the Phantom Fighter. He had thoroughly explored every aspect of this model and found it easy to handle and absolutely safe.
As for whether other Battle Machines would pursue him, that was not a concern!
After swiftly destroying that impressive Swift Fighter, Lin Yuan did not pause for a moment. Like a whirlwind, he continuously executed jumping spinning slashes, annihilating every Battle Machine in his path. Finally, after making a quick circle, he dashed towards a Phantom Fighter, activated its energy shield, and ascended rapidly while unleashing all onboard Rocket Launchers, missiles, and machine guns in full force as he made his escape.
By the time Uralmo arrived at the flight platform, Lin Yuan had vanished without a trace. This infuriated him beyond measure! However, in the next moment, Uralmo suddenly sneered and ordered, "Notify Mars Central Base that my Uncle Ander and cousin Demeir are dead. The situation on Earth Colonization Star is out of control. Request execution of Plan H to completely destroy Sub-base S-5."
...
Lin Yuan piloted the stolen Phantom Fighter at full speed towards Mouse One's hiding place; it provided him with the greatest sense of security.
This time his counterattack had truly yielded significant results. He completed three Subbase Missions in one go: eliminating five hundred Mutants as part of Assassination Plan A, destroying the Cloning Tank of Mutant Resistance, and killing three Mutant Robots. Just from these missions alone, his rewards totaled 40,000 Mechanical Coins, twenty merit points, and 10,000 Mission Points.
It was no exaggeration to say that with this extra bounty, he could comfortably hide in Sub-base S-5 for mechanical research for the next thirty Mechanical Years.
Of course, occasionally one could go out hunting or something like that; in any case, the future seemed bright.
However, there was something strange. Lin Yuan had not encountered any pursuers nor seen any intercepting Battle Machines. This felt a bit off. After all, he was piloting the Phantom Prototype, not Mouse One. Could it be that Uralmo was so kind as to let him go?
How bizarre!
But the fact remained that all the way back to Mouse One's hiding place, and even while retrieving Mouse One, there were no Mutant Battle Machines coming to cause trouble!
Yet Lin Yuan did not dwell on it because he had regained control of Mouse One and felt incredibly confident. He wasn't afraid of any schemes; if worse came to worst, he could simply escape into outer space. With Mouse One's current power, that was hardly a problem.
He just needed to return to the S-5 Sub-base first since all his mission rewards had to be claimed at the Trading Platform.
The journey back was eerily quiet, with no sign of any provocative Mutants. The entire world seemed desolate again.
"Strange? What is going on here?"
Lin Yuan finally began to feel uneasy, but he couldn't figure out what the issue was.
He continued onward until he was nearing the 500-kilometer air defense identification zone of the S-5 Sub-base when it suddenly dawned on him: those Mutant Battle Machines must have come here to intercept him!
"Haha! You cowards, is this all you've got? Come on, let me show you what a top-tier Battle Machine really is!"
Lin Yuan completely relaxed; these idiots thought they could intercept Mouse One with just a few dozen Phantom Fighters? They were utterly clueless!
Lin Yuan laughed inwardly as Mouse One surged forward at full speed, executing an astonishing flight path that pierced through the endless barrage of fire without a scratch—simply magnificent!
However, just seconds later, Lin Yuan suddenly sensed something was amiss. How could those damned Battle Machines cross the air defense identification zone and pursue him relentlessly?
"Where's the Gatekeeper? Where's the Laser Annihilation Bomb?"
This is bad!
A thought flashed through Lin Yuan's mind, but at that moment, a brilliant light suddenly erupted from the direction of the S-5 Sub-base. It was the trajectory of the Laser Annihilation Bomb, faster than any guided Rocket Launcher or other missile heads, leaving no room for evasion! It was heading straight for Mouse One!
"Gatekeeper! Damn you!"
Lin Yuan cursed furiously, hastily maneuvering Mouse One to dodge while accelerating. After all, this Laser Annihilation Bomb was produced by Mechanical City; it could easily obliterate his Mouse One without breaking a sweat!
But what left Lin Yuan in despair was that the Gatekeeper clearly intended to finish him off. After firing the first Laser Annihilation Bomb, it continued to shoot like fireworks towards his Mouse One!
Damn it!
"Beep! Warning! Ultimate warning: A level one rebellion has occurred at your controlled S-5 Sub-base. As an Executive, please quell the rebellion immediately. If your strength is insufficient, please hire a Mercenary Group for support. Friendly reminder: A level E1 Mercenary Group requires Three Million Mechanical Coins to hire. Once hired successfully, the Mercenary Group will arrive on the battlefield within ten minutes. Would you like to proceed with hiring?"
...
Damn! Ten minutes? By then, my ashes will be gone! And what the hell, I'm not at the Trading Platform right now—how can I hire anyone?
And they want Three Million Mechanical Coins! That's outrageous; it’s more than what I earn as an Executive of this Sub-base! At this rate, I might as well become a Mercenary myself! (To be continued.)
