Lin Yuan felt an unexpected wave of anxiety at that moment. Everything before him was completely unfamiliar, constantly challenging his mental defenses. A flood of information bombarded him, and if he hadn't urgently called for a halt, Intellect might have crashed.
It was overwhelming!
This was Lin Yuan's first impression as he surveyed the scene. Before him lay a mountain of insect corpses, their dark green blood pooling in low areas to form a lake. This sight was far from pleasant; the dark green liquid was the blood of the Zerg, possessing an incredibly strong corrosive power.
Only specialized equipment could ignore such hazards, like the three massive Corpse Recovery Vehicles. These were astonishingly large, resembling gigantic loaves of bread or colossal bread beasts, stretching two kilometers in length, five hundred meters in width, and three hundred meters in height. Each vehicle rested on eight hundred specially designed wheels that were resistant to corrosion and had strong defenses, making them difficult to destroy. Towering over thirty meters high, they were true behemoths!
On top of these Corpse Recovery Vehicles were likely decomposition furnaces or other material breakdown devices. The mountain-like Zerg corpses were drawn in from the front and transformed into various valuable materials by the time they reached the back. The entire process was fully automated; after the Corpse Recovery Vehicles passed through, not only did the bodies disappear, but even the dark green corrosive blood was completely collected!
However, these Corpse Recovery Vehicles were extremely expensive. Even at g-715 Sub-base, there were only three available. Thus, six Mercenary Groups were deployed along with thirty-eight Mercenaries, three hundred Mechanical Soldiers, and a Battle Machine for comprehensive protection.
As the Troll Captain had mentioned, this was actually a very safe mission. Aside from being quite disgusting, it was located right next to g-715 Sub-base, which had an external air defense identification zone that extended up to one thousand kilometers. As long as there wasn’t a large-scale Swarm attack, a small number of insects posed no significant threat.
Therefore, Lin Yuan quickly relaxed and shifted his focus away from the vast battlefield. His immediate priority was to perform his duties effectively—specifically managing the Armored Vehicle Formation's control and logistical support.
In reality, this task was quite simple and not nearly as complicated as Lin Yuan had previously thought. The four Tanks of the Troll Squad were equipped with a Main Control Center that had three levels of authority.

This system integrated all details from the four Tanks and enabled them to drive autonomously, ensuring there would be no accidents. Therefore, theoretically speaking, Lin Yuan did not need to manage the driving of these Tanks.
The third level of authority fell to Lin Yuan himself. He could take full control of the convoy after receiving authorization from the Troll Captain, allowing him to make quick decisions regarding Firepower support, battlefield rescue operations, tank assault protection, and more. However, this authorization would only be granted after combat began and at the discretion of the Troll Captain; he would only provide it if he deemed it necessary; otherwise, Lin Yuan would be left powerless.
Thus, Lin Yuan's responsibilities boiled down to three main tasks.
The first task was reconnaissance—large-scale reconnaissance—which is why he needed to be stationed on top of the comprehensive information support Tank. This Tank was equipped with a large Energy Waveguide Radar capable of theoretically searching an area with an eight-thousand-kilometer radius and achieving zero-centimeter search precision. It could automatically detect eighteen thousand three hundred twenty-one types of dangerous targets and issue timely alerts.
In addition to this function, the Search Radar also has a manual control search feature, with a range of one hundred kilometers and a precision of 0.5 centimeters, allowing for effective observation of battlefield details and providing information support to teammates.
The Energy Waveguide Radar sounds impressive, at least from the perspective of Earthlings in the 21st century, but in reality, this Radar System is quite outdated. Despite the exaggerated data, it is essentially ineffective!
It is important to note that in this era, whether it is Mechanical Warriors, Zerg, or other powerful entities, they all possess some formidable counter-search interference capabilities.
Take Lin Yuan for example; if he wanted to, he could suppress the output of his Energy Engine to below 97%, effectively evading this Radar System.
At this moment, through the Energy Waveguide Radar System, Lin Yuan could only see the mountain of Zerg corpses and three Corpse Recovery Vehicles along with three hundred Mechanical Soldiers. He could only spot twenty-one soldiers from the other five Mercenary Groups; the remaining eleven Mercenaries were completely undetectable, even though they were just a few kilometers away. This indicates both the strength of these Mercenaries and the obsolescence of the Radar.
Moreover, this Energy Waveguide Radar could not detect a Battle Machine hovering in the air; even at a distance of several hundred meters, the Radar remained blank.
This Battle Machine was none other than the renowned Eagle Falcon Series Fighter equipped by the military of Mechanical City. Unfortunately, even with the use of his Intelligent Brain Encyclopedia, Lin Yuan could not retrieve any information about this Eagle Falcon Battle Machine; all he received were responses indicating insufficient permissions.
Lin Yuan's second task involved battlefield supply delivery. Despite the Troll Squad's seemingly shabby appearance, they were well-equipped; they not only possessed a Heavy Shield Hover Tank but also three Unmanned Aerial Vehicles—albeit old models. The Heavy Shield Hover Tank and drones were what Lin Yuan needed to deploy at critical moments with precision. However, this was not a technically challenging task.
Lin Yuan's third role was his actual position within this Mercenary Group: a long-range supporter. On top of an information support Tank was installed a Sniper Energy Cannon. This weapon had significant destructive power and required manual control. Additionally, it consumed an enormous amount of energy; each shot from the Sniper Energy Cannon required 100 units of energy. Therefore, unless one was as formidable as Lord Dragon—a powerful Mechanical Warrior—no one else could install such a device due to insufficient output from their Energy Engines. To put it simply, it would be like asking an Earthling to run thirty kilometers at a speed of one hundred meters per second; even with physical enhancements, their heart would not be able to handle it.
Thus, this weapon had to be mounted on a Tank and pre-charged. In its standby state, it could fire five shots—three seconds per shot—with astonishing power. However, it required exceptionally skilled sniping abilities; at least Lin Yuan was not yet qualified for that level. Hence, Troll Captain repeatedly instructed that unless absolutely necessary or in life-and-death situations, using the Sniper Energy Cannon was prohibited.
As time passed slowly, the initial novelty and shock were replaced by boredom due to the lack of any significant events. The three Corpse Recovery Vehicles had already advanced thirty kilometers forward and were nearing the edge of the battlefield. During this process, several still-living Zerg emerged but were quickly dispatched by members of the six Mercenary Groups before Lin Yuan could provide any support; it all happened so swiftly that silence returned almost immediately.
Thus, after a day passed by like this, Lin Yuan's first Mercenary Mission was completed rather haphazardly. Of course, the mission rewards had nothing to do with him; they were all collected by Troll Captain himself since he was the sole beneficiary. The others like Lord J, Thomas, Bison, and Fat Three were merely receiving their wages while Lin Yuan—well, let’s not forget his role as labor.
Having achieved a successful start, Troll Captain was quite excited and immediately decided to take on a second mission: to head to a mine located sixteen hundred kilometers away for search and rescue operations. The reason being that this time the Swarm had arrived too suddenly; approximately thirty miners had been trapped inside without time to evacuate. Now that most of the Swarm had been defeated, rescue efforts were needed.
In addition to Troll Mercenary Team taking on this mission, another Mercenary Group called Cat's Eye would also participate along with one hundred Mechanical Soldiers supported by g-715 Sub-base.
The task was a bit challenging, and combat was likely to occur. After all, sixteen hundred kilometers had already taken them out of the air defense identification zone of G-715 Sub-base. As for radar searches, well, that was actually a joke; most Zerg could evade radar detection while still alive. The terrain and environment of this planet would also weaken the effectiveness of radar searches. Even the advanced radar system of G-715 Sub-base, which was on par with Troll Squad's radar, sometimes malfunctioned.
The Cat's Eye Mercenary Team consisted of eight members, and their equipment was significantly more luxurious than that of the Troll Mercenary Team. They had a total of ten tanks, including three Heavy Shield Hover Tanks and one peculiar tank resembling a Rocket Artillery Vehicle, equipped with two Sniper Energy Cannons. Their long-range firepower support was incredibly formidable!
What was even more astonishing was that the Cat's Eye Mercenary Team possessed an Eagle Falcon Fighter. Although it had been retired for several thousand mechanical years, it was still far superior to the drones used by the Troll Mercenary Team.
"Papaya, initiate the conference call; we need to discuss matters with the Cat's Eye Captain."
The voice of the Troll Captain came through the internal information platform. This was a fully encrypted transmission to prevent eavesdropping, but its range was limited to twenty kilometers.
"Understood! The meeting room is being set up. Setup complete; external signal connected!"
At that moment, Lin Yuan elegantly transformed into a connection operator. There was no choice; although the others were also in tanks, they needed to stay alert to their surroundings and prepare for battle. It seemed he was the only one free at the moment, but this task was rather enjoyable.
As soon as the information connected, eight three-dimensional virtual figures appeared on the virtual control screen in front of Lin Yuan, almost indistinguishable from reality.
At the same time, Lin Yuan accessed the information platform again to connect the signals of everyone in Troll Squad. He also created a virtual waitress to guide the eight members of Cat's Eye Team and five members of Troll Squad into the data meeting room.
