In that moment, Lin Yuan's hard-earned Gale Evasion Skill, honed over the past three months in Cabin 09, came into play with maximum effect. With a powerful strike, regardless of the outcome, he immediately executed a backward somersault, followed by a swift reverse slash with his sword held behind him.
Each of these movements seemed illogical when viewed in isolation, completely out of sync with normal combat rhythm. However, he understood very well that he was not a match for the mysterious expert!
Almost simultaneously, a brilliant flash of light, as dazzling as a Flame Blade, pursued him relentlessly. The first strike missed by mere inches, but the second came swiftly afterward, clashing perfectly against Lin Yuan's Assault Longsword held across his back. The follow-up was ghostly quick, and at this moment, the mysterious enemy still had not revealed themselves. Lin Yuan had yet to detect any anomalies through his Auditory Radar, aside from that seemingly concealed radiant longsword.
"Shadow Stalker?"
At this point, it would be foolish for Lin Yuan not to realize the truth. Indeed, it had to be an expert from this profession; how else could a Shadow Stalker move so silently?
But what a nightmare! Among the six major professions in Mechanical City, the Shadow Stalker was second only to the Area Controller in terms of mystery. Thus, while many could imitate the Heavy Shield Defender, Ranged Attacker, Brute Assault Specialist, or Swift Hunter, few could mimic these two professions due to their complexity. Those who could imitate them would undoubtedly be masters!
The problem was that they were merely low-tier Mercenaries executing a search mission; how could they attract such deadly trouble? Moreover, their opponent was clearly a higher-level Mercenary!
Seeking revenge? Impossible. Neither the Troll nor Cat's Eye had the qualifications to provoke such enemies. Greed-driven robbery? Even less likely; they were so broke they barely had anything left. As for lustful intentions—well, it seemed neither of their Mercenary Group had even a single woman among them!
That left only the mysterious actions of the Troll Captain and Cat's Eye Captain before this incident. Indeed, misfortune often comes from one's own actions! Damn it! They wanted to get rich and ended up dragging him into this mess!
In an instant, Lin Yuan pieced together the entire situation and understood just how dire it was. If he guessed correctly, there should be more than one mysterious enemy lurking in the Underground Mine, waiting for the Trolls to deliver themselves right into their hands!
"Bang!"
Lin Yuan was slammed against the Tank's wall by that strike. The immense force caused him to lose fifty Health Points instantly. Thankfully, his Assault Longsword was a high-quality Blue Light Weapon; otherwise, he would have been killed outright by that blow!
"Damn it!"
Although he was heavily injured, Lin Yuan used the rebound force from the Tank's wall to leap back up and swung his sword upward. He couldn't see the mysterious enemy's body, so he had to rely on the trajectory of his attack to roughly lock onto its position. This was why he prioritized defense before offense, rather than launching a series of attacks that would miss the opponent and leave him vulnerable.
This was Lin Yuan's advantage; he wielded a Blue Light Weapon of exceptional quality. As long as he utilized it well, the mysterious Shadow Stalker would be at a disadvantage.
The entire attack process was incredibly swift, erupting suddenly like lightning. The Assault Longsword broke through the Tank's exterior once more, striking with such force that it momentarily halted, slipping away without making contact.
But in that fleeting moment, the Tank's Search Radar locked onto a signal identical to the previous vague flash.
Lin Yuan understood immediately; without a doubt, this fuzzy signal indicated that the Shadow Stalker was using some kind of ability or activating its Energy Shield. This made things interesting. The Shadow Stalker likely didn't realize that Lin Yuan had connected the Search Radar to his Second Audio-Visual Radar, allowing him to control it remotely.
With this thought in mind, Lin Yuan decisively swung his longsword, breaking through the Tank's outer wall and leaping out, heading straight for the ground without looking back.
He knew this was a reckless move. Being exposed in the open was far worse than hiding inside the Tank. At least the Shadow Stalker couldn't silently infiltrate the Tank; any attempt to attack would make some noise.
It was like walking into a trap!
However, Lin Yuan had no choice. If he continued to stay inside the Tank with the Shadow Stalker, it wouldn't be long before the entire structure was destroyed, and then the Search Radar would cease functioning as well.
But if he could lure the Shadow Stalker out, he could use the Search Radar to confirm its approximate location.
He dashed down to Bunker Two, which was littered with Zerg corpses and debris. The silence around him was eerie; there were no signs of life, let alone the Shadow Stalker. It could strike at any moment from any direction since it was invisible.
At this moment, Lin Yuan chose not to flee further. In fact, he didn't even notify the Troll Captain and his team because doing so would undoubtedly alert the Shadow Stalker that he could still control the Search Radar remotely. That would be extremely dangerous. Thus, he adhered to the valuable principle taught by the Troll Captain: "A dead comrade is better than a living enemy."
He stood on the ruins, gripping the Assault Longsword with his Second Mechanical Arm, while simultaneously deploying the Dual Wing Shield. His Fourth Mechanical Arm retrieved the Mammoth Pistol, and his Third Mechanical Arm picked up the Hurricane Hammer Shotgun, which was wrapped in animal hide, revealing only its menacing Six-Barrel. He aimed to intimidate as much as possible, buying time for his plan.
The surroundings were utterly silent, not a sound to be heard. The sun shone brightly, and there was no wind; it felt like hell. The sensation was dreadful—imagine knowing enemies were lurking around your body yet being unable to see or touch them. It was far more terrifying than any horror movie set in Silent Hill!
"Please, please! Be a bit more precise!"
Lin Yuan remained motionless, but inside, he continuously commanded the Search Radar to meticulously scan all areas within a five-hundred-meter radius. He wasn't worried that the Shadow Stalker would hide far away and take him out with a Sniper Rifle; that wasn't how things worked. As a Shadow Stalker, their primary requirement was to blend into the air, making equipment choice crucial. A Special Longsword would suffice—there was no need for cumbersome gear or the inability to equip other weapons. Otherwise, if they carried a Sniper Energy Cannon, it would turn this place into a playground for Shadow Stalkers.
With every gain comes a loss! The law of balance still applied in Mechanical City!
Of course, if that Shadow Stalker dared to enter The War Chariot of the Yellow Sparrow and pick up a Sniper Rifle to prepare for Long-Range Sniping, Lin Yuan guaranteed he would notice immediately; the Search Radar wasn’t just for show!
That would mean the Shadow Stalker had abandoned its professional advantages, choosing instead to confront Lin Yuan head-on. Such foolishness was beneath the dignity of a Shadow Stalker; they wouldn’t allow such provocation!
So, that Shadow Stalker would appear—silently and stealthily—at a position Lin Yuan couldn’t sense, striking down at his nonexistent head with one swift blow to end the battle cleanly!
Time passed second by second, each moment stretching out like a lifetime for Lin Yuan because perhaps in the next instant, he would be taken out!
Yet he still chose to remain defensive and motionless! He was waiting for an opportunity, but selecting that moment was tricky since he had no idea where his opponent was or when they would strike.
This was truly nerve-wracking!
Finally, amidst countless signals being scanned, the Search Radar detected a faint signal. Although it flickered briefly, Lin Yuan confirmed that his strategy was working; the Shadow Stalker must have seen the terrifying Hurricane Hammer. They should know well about the shotgun's devastating power—it was perfect for dealing with their kind of Shadow Stalker. Of course, what they didn’t know was that the Hurricane Hammer had yet to be repaired and had no ammunition left.
As he slowly approached Lin Yuan, he couldn't help but slightly increase the energy of the Energy Shield.
However, this increase in energy became his only flaw, captured by the Search Radar. It was unfortunate for him, as the Mechanical Warrior's Auditory Radar alone could not detect such energy fluctuations. Little did he know that Lin Yuan could remotely command the Search Radar, which was already in manual search mode.
This was the opportunity Lin Yuan had been waiting for!
Although he couldn't pinpoint the exact location of the Shadow Stalker through the energy fluctuations, he knew the direction it was in. In an instant, he spun around like a whirlwind and swiftly opened the beast hide bag containing the Hurricane Hammer, raising it as if to fire.
The Hurricane Hammer's imposing appearance exuded a fierce aura; it was clearly a Blue Light Weapon. Though somewhat worn, it did nothing to diminish its menacing presence.
Lin Yuan was confident that upon seeing the Hurricane Hammer, the Shadow Stalker would have two immediate reactions: first, astonishment at how Lin Yuan could possibly know its location; second, sheer panic and shock. If Lin Yuan had been holding a Sniper Energy Cannon at that moment, the Shadow Stalker wouldn't have shown any signs of fear—after all, it would have dared him to come and bite.
But this was a wide-range shotgun, unmistakably a Blue Light Weapon. How could it not evoke shock and fear?
At that moment, there was no time for the Shadow Stalker to examine the specific attributes of the Hurricane Hammer or to escape. The only thing it could do was to infinitely increase the Energy Output of its Energy Shield to prepare for the impending lethal attack.
However, this action resulted in the old and bulky Model 000 Search Radar quickly locking onto its precise location!
