In the depths of Mine 478, unless one was a specific miner or a mine guard, the underground veins were off-limits. Even the five defensive towers were heavily guarded, prohibiting entry.

For example, Dark Magic Cores are incredibly valuable among commoners but are merely trivial to the Regular Army; if one doesn't possess at least a dozen high-level blue-glow Weapon Equipment pieces, they are deemed unqualified.
Mercenaries can only fight within the defenses of Mechanical City, providing military support to numerous Sub-bases.
Thus, despite these miners being registered as Mercenaries and having completed the task of killing zero f5-level Spiny Worms, their actual capabilities were truly subpar.
Lin Yuan himself felt he was quite a terrible fellow; he had been mocked by Thomas for some time. But now it seemed that these miners were genuinely weak—he could easily take down twenty of them without breaking a sweat!

Of course, Mechanical City never lacked human resources. From what Lin Yuan roughly knew, just one g-715 Sub-base employed over ten million miners on average; each mine had tens of thousands of miners.
Lin Yuan could even imagine that somewhere in Mechanical City, countless Mechanical Life forms awakened like an assembly line; every second saw innumerable Mechanical Lives born. This could easily form a vast mechanical army that maintained the foundational structure of the entire empire like worker ants.
