The moment Lin Yuan burst out of the drone warehouse of the Dark Messenger Battleship, he realized that the so-called exit was directly above the battleship, not at the point where he had entered. This exit resembled a dense honeycomb, with at least five hundred such passages.
Each passageway could launch six drones simultaneously, which meant that within these five hundred flight channels, there were likely thousands of drones hidden. Just in this brief moment, as the Seventh Drone Squadron surged out, there must have been over ten thousand drones!
What did this mean? It meant they were swarming!
Moreover, once all the drones were launched, they did not randomly lock onto targets to attack; instead, they operated in a swarm combat mode. Following commands from the Dark Messenger's command center, they locked onto their attack direction. For instance, the Seventh Drone Squadron that Lin Yuan was part of received the same order as nine adjacent drones: to form a combat formation and break through at a five-degree angle upward!
Other drone squadrons operated similarly, with ten formations combining into one combat cluster, charging madly and recklessly toward designated areas, even engaging in suicidal attacks!
At this moment, Lin Yuan felt tragic. He never expected that what he had hoped for would turn into this—there was no chance of escape!
This was not just because their combat cluster of two hundred and forty drones had tightly encircled him in the center, making it impossible for him to break free.
More importantly, all around him—above, below, left, right—were densely packed Dark Demon Race creatures. There was no way out; it felt like being trapped in a vast black ocean. At this point, even those high-level and powerful Mechanical Warriors could not break through the blockade of the Dark Demon Race!
Thus, at this moment, Lin Yuan realized that staying put was safer than attempting to flee; escaping would guarantee his death! Remaining within the drone formation seemed to be the better option.
In fact, it took less than two or three seconds for Lin Yuan to fully understand his predicament. The data collected by his Auditory Radar was also extremely grim.
Lin Yuan's Auditory Radar had a detection range of three hundred kilometers when connected to the Black Bat-9 drone's radar. However, when networked with the entire Seventh Drone Squadron, its search range expanded to three thousand kilometers.
But at this moment, that so-called three thousand kilometers or three hundred kilometers was practically useless because all he could see on the radar were countless Dark Demon Race figures—completely obscured.
Lin Yuan had seen Dark Demon Race creatures before, but this was indeed his first encounter with live ones. On that Alien Battlefield, there were many corpses of Dark Demon Race beings; however, they were all shriveled up like dried radishes and bore no resemblance to what they might have looked like in life.
Here, though, these Dark Demon Race creatures appeared much more vivid. They seemed to be able to fly—or rather float. In this environment, it was nearly impossible to discern their general outlines; the Search Radar could only detect vague shadows surrounded by a mass of black mist. According to information from the Intelligent Brain Encyclopedia, that black mist was not just for show; it was highly pure dark energy capable of shielding against kinetic attacks. Its function resembled that of a defensive shield. Therefore, killing them effectively required methods other than powerful Energy Cannons or high-energy particle beams—not to mention nuclear bombs or hydrogen bombs—since that dark energy was essentially the antithesis of all positive energy in the universe.
Of course, there were effective means of attack available. A sufficiently powerful energy cannon could obliterate large swathes of Dark Demon Race creatures. Massive tremor waves from metallic flows could also tear through them. Even some conventional solid munitions could prove effective: incendiary rounds could burn them away; freezing rounds could freeze them; corrosive acids could eat through them; and even basic melee weapons could easily breach their dark energy shields—after all, that dark energy wasn't omnipotent.
But therein lay the problem: this was the home turf of the Dark Demon Race! They held all advantages in terms of location and numbers!
Was a thousand drones a large scale? Among that vast, seemingly endless army of the Dark Demon Race, it was like a drop in the ocean!
Lin Yuan watched helplessly as, in less than four or five seconds, over a thousand drones ahead unleashed a barrage of fierce artillery fire before being completely engulfed by the dark tide, not even causing a ripple!
How tragic!
Oh my god, help!
Although Lin Yuan was furious and desperate, it was of no use. The drones ahead charged in like moths to a flame, and soon it would be their turn—this group of two hundred and forty drones. He could almost hear the sound of the charge and the heavy machine guns of the overseers behind them!
I don’t want to die! Even if there are thousands of drones going down with me!
Boom! Boom!
The deafening explosions erupted as the drones ahead launched suicide attacks, crashing into the dense formation of the Dark Demon Race's Hexagonal Array before detonating, creating brilliant yet fleeting sparks!
At the same time, the attacks from the Dark Demon Race surged forward recklessly. It was hard to discern any long-range capabilities they possessed, but their close combat power was formidable, and their sheer numbers were overwhelming!
"Drones, charge!"
As the final command from the control center was issued, in an instant, Lin Yuan's battle group surged forward. To make matters worse, he was forced to join in; if he didn’t charge, he would be blown apart by his fellow drones behind him!
In just a moment, more than half of their two hundred and forty drones self-destructed. Each self-detonation could take out five or six Dark Demon Race units, but it was hardly enough!
At this point, Lin Yuan had no choice but to draw his Ghost Spear and roared inwardly as he charged forward!
The inertia of such speed was terrifying. He didn’t know what level the Dark Demon Race unit facing him was, but it was directly pierced through by the Ghost Spear and instantly killed. A glance at the battle log left Lin Yuan startled.
"Physical Base Damage +7, Inherent Speed Damage +7, Blue Light Weapon Sharpness Damage +90. Blue Light Weapon Quality Assessment: Crushing; generates 100% critical hit effect. All damage is doubled. Note: This crushing judgment is based on the Ninth Material Constant Principle of Mechanical City. A material's quality determines that when external force reaches an average threshold, it can exert greater force on another material."
A quick glance at the battle record made Lin Yuan's heart soar with joy. He never expected the Ghost Spear to deal such high damage, almost reaching 8000 points. No wonder it could instantly kill the Dark Demon Race. The quality advantage was truly exhilarating, as it could double the damage. Although the term Ninth Mile sounded a bit convoluted, Lin Yuan understood the principle behind it. It was like a motorcycle trying to collide with a Heavy Truck; the assessment between the motorcycle and the Heavy Truck was all about quality superiority!
However, this exhilaration lasted only a moment. Lin Yuan was not one to get carried away, especially in such a chaotic battlefield. At the instant of his successful strike, his Third Combat Form immediately tilted upward at a ninety-degree angle, executing an incredibly graceful backflip to escape!
Almost simultaneously, three drones brushed past Lin Yuan and viciously crashed into the dense Hexagonal Array of the Dark Demon Race. Lin Yuan felt a wave of dread wash over him. Damn it, those are our own people! Why so ruthless? We are all from the same root; why must we harm each other so hastily?
But the danger was far from over. Lin Yuan temporarily evaded the dense Hexagonal Array of the Dark Demon Race, but in the distance, more drones were charging forward like a swarm of locusts. With just a slight misstep, he could find himself in an intimate encounter with them at any moment!
Lin Yuan broke out in a cold sweat, quickly maneuvering to barely avoid several crazed drones. But this was hardly a solution; those drones launching suicide attacks would not change their trajectories and only knew how to crash headlong into their targets!
"Damn it! Claire, take over! Composite Wings!"
Lin Yuan couldn't help but shout. At this moment, he had no choice but to rely on Claire's control of the Composite Wings to dodge; otherwise, he wouldn't stand a chance against the frenzied and dense assault of hundreds or even thousands of drones.
"Sir, no! At this moment, the control center of the Dark Messenger Battleship must be closely monitoring this front line. If you reveal your trump card now, they will notice immediately, and our situation will become even worse. You must hold on! I am already searching through all battlefield data and conducting Tactical Analysis. If I’m not mistaken, in ten seconds, the Dark Messenger will deploy stronger Mechanical Warriors. Only then do we have a glimmer of hope!" Claire shouted back. Since the battle began, she had been working tirelessly to gather various data and information.
"Ten more seconds?"
Lin Yuan didn't have that kind of confidence, but at this moment, he truly had no choice! Therefore, instead of trying to break free from the battlefield, he dove back toward the lines of the Dark Demon Race. Only by following the attack paths of those crazed drones could he avoid being hit; however, this also meant he would have to endure the wrath of the Dark Demon Race! (To be continued.)
