"Is this really possible?"
For a moment, Lin Yuan's astonishment was palpable. He never expected that his design would yield such significant rewards. Among the thousands of Elite Mechanical Warriors at the Ninth Training Base, there were certainly many who could surpass him in Mechanical Assembly.
This must be a hidden reward he had inadvertently uncovered.
Moreover, this reward was incredibly generous—one hundred thousand Mission Points and zero Advanced Points were one thing, but the ten thousand Reputation Points from the Pirate Alliance were astonishing.
Especially since he was currently ranked 98th in his faction's reputation standings; this was a leap forward!
If Lin Yuan remembered correctly, there was indeed a ranking list for reputation, visible to all members of the same faction from the first to the thousandth place. His sudden rise into the top hundred would surely attract considerable attention.
However, he quickly set aside these thoughts. The most important thing now was to complete his previous plans.
But soon, he noticed a change. All the basic tasks he had accepted for repairing drones had vanished, replaced by a mission to assemble new drones. This was clearly a butterfly effect. Although the reward for assembling the new drones was substantial, it was not suitable for Lin Yuan's plans.
After careful consideration, Lin Yuan decided to abandon this task. After all, he currently had 17,890 points of Reputation with the Pirate Alliance. These points would only be valid during the Year-End Exam, and he intended to exchange them for powerful equipment at the Quartermaster.
Moreover, Lin Yuan was genuinely concerned; as the saying goes, fame can bring trouble. He had suddenly gone from being an unknown to ranking among the top hundred in his entire faction, which would undoubtedly stir up waves among everyone. If Titan 1109 got involved, he wouldn't be able to handle it.
Thus, Lin Yuan promptly gathered the thirty-two drones he could command and left the Maintenance Hangar to head to the Pirate King's Quartermaster.
After five days away, Lin Yuan found that the entire Pirate Alliance camp had changed dramatically. The most notable change was that it had become much livelier. Almost every Target Student participating in the Year-End Exam had several pirate subordinates following them—these were exchanged from the Quartermaster using Reputation Points. The exchanged pirates came from various life races and had different military classifications and combat strengths.
In addition, there were numerous Battle Machines and various types of combat reconnaissance Starships. Clearly, while Lin Yuan had been working hard in the Maintenance Hangar, others had not wasted any time.
No one paid much attention to Lin Yuan along the way; after all, reputation rankings were merely a formality. Ordinary people wouldn’t quickly realize it unless they were already at that level.
The Pirate Alliance's Quartermaster was located on Bluebeard's flagship. However, when Lin Yuan arrived, he was astonished to find that access to the Quartermaster's location had been blocked off. Several e4-level Mechanical Warriors were stationed there as guards.
"Hey! Which team are you from? Stop! Listen up! According to the joint decision of Mechanical Lion, Mechanical Vulture, and King of the Void's three knight branches, the entire Pirate Alliance will establish a unified command center. All teams and individuals must unconditionally join this alliance command center. Now you must pay zero Mission Points and zero Reputation Points from the Pirate Alliance as an entry donation. In return, we will issue you an Alliance Membership Mark and you will be eligible to receive information from the alliance command center."
Blocked on his way, Lin Yuan was not particularly surprised. In fact, he had anticipated this possibility. After all, even the most arrogant large teams should have reached a certain level of coordination after five days of this mission. If they did not integrate all the medium-sized teams and individuals at this point, they would undoubtedly be heading for failure. In such large-scale confrontations involving tens of thousands of people, even cannon fodder had its role.
Of course, the recruitment at this moment was different from that five days ago. Five days ago, it was about attracting truly powerful elites; now, it was about rallying the cannon fodder.
Lin Yuan did not hesitate much and chose to agree. Although the method of recruitment felt unfair to him, he understood that he had no choice but to go along with it alone. Moreover, he did not mind paying this price. Gaining entry into this alliance and receiving information about their plans and objectives was a worthwhile trade-off for him.
After Lin Yuan readily paid five hundred Mission Points and five hundred Reputation Points, the E4-level Mechanical Warrior did not make things difficult for him. It quickly registered Lin Yuan's number and used a laser to inject an alliance membership mark onto his Mechanical Body. With this mark, he could enter and exit freely and listen to the alliance's Information Control Platform at any time.
As expected, the information control platform continuously released detailed intelligence regarding the opposing A-11 Sub-base and the various battles occurring between both sides. There were also professionals analyzing the enemy's combat strength and defensive strategies, as well as updates on their own resources and the number of Battle Machines and Battleships available. Naturally, there were also plenty of morale-boosting exaggerations and flattery.
Lin Yuan skimmed through all of this. To be honest, although he was a newcomer in this Year-End Assessment between the two major Training Bases, he had managed to gather some information through hearsay. The Ninth Training Base was actually ranked last among all Training Bases in Mechanical City—a fact that had become almost universally accepted.
Thus, the chances of his faction winning this offensive-defensive battle were slim, and everyone was not particularly optimistic. What they were preparing for was merely whether their respective teams and individuals could pass this Year-End Assessment, rather than completely defeating the Seventh Training Base.
Thinking this way, Lin Yuan approached the Quartermaster. Although this Quartermaster was an NPC, he was certainly not a fool; he might even be a disguised instructor from the Training Base. Therefore, one should not expect to act recklessly around him.
At that moment, more than ten Mechanical Warriors were engaged in various exchanges with the Quartermaster—either taking on missions or exchanging weapons or recruiting pirates—making him quite busy.
Seeing this scene, Lin Yuan thought about waiting in line. However, to his surprise, just as he stood there, the seemingly busy Quartermaster abandoned his interactions with other Mechanical Warriors and approached Lin Yuan respectfully, saying, "Hello, sir. How may I assist you?"
Lin Yuan was slightly taken aback but quickly understood that this was likely a benefit of his significantly increased Reputation Points. With his current Reputation Points ranking within the top hundred, he naturally stood out compared to the other ten or so Mechanical Warriors.
Lin Yuan was happy to enjoy this benefit. Ignoring the astonished looks and speculations from other Mechanical Warriors, he began to examine the list of supplies provided by the Quartermaster.
Upon looking through it, he couldn't help but feel delighted; there were indeed quite a few good items available.
However, Lin Yuan was also very clear-headed at this moment. He knew that with his current 1,790 Reputation Points, he could not exchange for too many items; thus, he needed to be strategic.
The first item Lin Yuan chose was 200,000 units of E1-level Standard Energy because his current energy reserves had dropped to a very low level—likely insufficient to support even one battle.
The exchange here is much more favorable than that at the Training Base or the Ministry of Internal Affairs. With just a bit of reputation, one can exchange for a hundred units of E1-level Standard Energy. However, considering that repairing a drone only earns ten Reputation Points, this price is actually quite steep.
But Lin Yuan didn’t care about that now. He cheerfully spent two thousand points of reputation and secured two hundred thousand units of E1-level Standard Energy. This energy could be taken back to the Training Base, so there was no worry about making a loss.
Moreover, Lin Yuan needed a substantial amount of energy to gather enough drones—one hundred in total.
Next, Lin Yuan turned his attention to recruiting pirates, which was equally important. Currently, he was alone and could easily be surrounded or threatened by some ill-intentioned individuals. Therefore, hiring a few bodyguards was essential.
Even better, the Quartermaster offered pirate units that were quite formidable.
There were a total of twelve life forms available for recruitment, including Mechanical Life, Carbon-Based Life, Silicon-Based Life, Insectoid Life, and more.
The specific units were divided into two main categories: Engineering Class and Combat Unit. The former could repair, mine, collect, and operate large Energy Weapons; however, Lin Yuan did not need this type.
The latter was crucial. The Combat Unit included many options, not only covering the six major units from Mechanical City but also adding a fighter pilot and battleship pilot unit.
Lin Yuan first chose the Mechanical Lifeform Race and selected the Heavy Shield Defender profession at the highest level—E7. Of course, the cost for this exchange was quite high as well; it required ten Reputation Points for each unit.
Lin Yuan decisively exchanged for two Heavy Shield Defenders from the Mechanical Life category. He understood that even if these two pirates did not possess high overall strength individually, together they could provide him with decent defense. (To be continued...)
