Sima Chuan closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and gently picked up the sword. Suddenly, he opened his eyes wide and tightly gripped the hilt. He lunged forward, stabbing at Lai Liqing. Lai Liqing drew his sword to block the attack but was pushed back toward the edge of the cliff. With all his strength, Lai Liqing managed to hold his ground, preventing himself from being pushed off into the river. After a moment, Lai Liqing suddenly leaped back two meters behind Sima Chuan. They both turned at the same time, but Lai Liqing moved faster, slashing Sima Chuan with his sword. Following that, he delivered a powerful kick, but Sima Chuan firmly caught his leg.
At that moment, Luo Mengqi rushed to Lai Liqing's right side and delivered a flying kick. Lai Liqing suddenly grabbed Sima Chuan and violently threw him aside, sending both him and Luo Mengqi flying toward the edge.
Lai Liqing slowly advanced, dragging his sword across the ground with a screeching sound. Sima Chuan and Luo Mengqi quickly got up from the ground, ready to fight back. Just then, a massive sword came rushing in from afar, entangling Lai Liqing. Moments later, it stopped beside Sima Chuan and transformed into Qiong.
"Chuan, how could you not call for me in a situation like this?"
"I didn't think I needed help; I thought I could handle it alone. But suddenly there are more opponents."
"Then let's fight side by side!" Qiong said excitedly as she began to bounce around.
Ouyang Qi and the others started to recover, but they were soon trapped by the thick mud created by the yellow Robot.
Lai Liqing showed no reaction; for him, this actually lightened his burden.
Luo Mengqi believed she had a solid chance of winning and shouted happily, "You copycat! I advise you to give up now; you might still have a chance to live. Otherwise, just think about what will happen!"
Lai Liqing smiled slightly and said, "As expected from a girl; you don't even understand the situation. You can ask Sima Chuan if he plans to die."
Upon hearing this, everyone looked at Sima Chuan in surprise, but he calmly replied, "Isn't there enough nonsense already?"
"Alright then, prepare to die!"
A ghostly blue glow began to emanate from Lai Liqing's body, and Sima Chuan knew what that meant.
"Step aside." Sima Chuan said to Qiong and Luo Mengqi beside him as he looked at Lai Liqing.
Luo Mengqi and Qiong exchanged a glance before stepping aside.
Sima Chuan gently closed his eyes, a faint blue glow beginning to emanate from his body.
"Chuan..." Qiong thought of something but suddenly stopped.
Sima Chuan opened his eyes, turned his head to look at Qiong, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
"Don't worry, Qiong! It's going to be fine!"
Sima Chuan raised his sword and swept it downward, the faint blue glow spreading outward while simultaneously creating a wave of energy.
Lai Liqing scoffed, saying, "How pathetic, struggling uselessly when death is near!"
Sima Chuan remained silent, still calm. Perhaps he had anticipated this moment long ago.
The two slowly approached each other, their glowing energies colliding. The remaining snow on the ground was swept into the air, creating the illusion of snowfall.
Then, both moved at the same time; however, Lai Liqing was faster than Sima Chuan, delivering a devastating blow. Lai Liqing mocked, "You know you're already weak, yet you still gather your strength to fight to the death."
"Even if I die, I will fight," Sima Chuan exclaimed as he leaped up and swung his sword down onto Lai Liqing's shoulder.
Lai Liqing's face briefly showed a pained expression, but he quickly pushed Sima Chuan's sword away from his shoulder and kicked him aside. Sima Chuan rolled to the edge of the cliff, where a yellow Robot rushed to his side, grabbing his hands and injecting an unknown power into him. Sima Chuan felt a sudden lightness in his body as if he had lost something. The yellow Robot smiled slightly and said, "Mission accomplished; the rest is up to you." With that, it burrowed into the ground and disappeared.
Just as Sima Chuan stood up, his body weakened and he knelt down. Qiong sensed something was wrong and hurried over to Sima Chuan's side, followed closely by Luo Mengqi.
Qiong wanted to help Sima Chuan up, but he refused. "Qiong, it's fine. I still have some strength left."
"No, you are no match for him right now."
"Qiong, do you trust me?"
Although Qiong understood what Sima Chuan meant, she firmly replied with two words: "I believe."
Sima Chuan smiled lightly, but Luo Mengqi couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed Sima Chuan and shouted, "Do you remember what you owe me? You still have to pay it back."
"Of course I remember. Don't worry, I will repay what I owe you."
"Make sure you do. If you don't, you know the consequences." She shot a fierce glare at Sima Chuan.
Sima Chuan merely smiled in response and said to them, "It's okay. You two wait aside for now; I'll resolve this soon. Also, be careful of that yellow Robot."
Although Qiong and Sima Chuan had only spent a short time together, they had gotten to know him quite well. So, she could only silently step back.
After they withdrew, Sima Chuan propped himself up with his sword, though he swayed slightly.
Lai Liqing was relatively strong, but his current condition was still quite weak. Even though Sima Chuan had only injured him with one strike, he was already severely weakened.
Lai Liqing slowly moved forward, step by step until he stood before Sima Chuan. Sima Chuan intended to swing his sword but was caught by Lai Liqing's hand. Then, with all his strength, Lai Liqing quickly infused energy into Sima Chuan. Sima Chuan knew exactly what it was, but he was too weak to fight back.
Sima Chuan's body began to show signs of freezing again. Qiong and Luo Mengqi immediately recognized what was happening and were about to rush forward to help when they were stopped by Ouyang Qi and his companions, who had somehow emerged from the pile of dirt.
Knowing he was powerless to resist, Sima Chuan gestured a farewell to Qiong and Luo Mengqi. In the end, Sima Chuan transformed into a lifelike ice sculpture.
Lai Liqing exerted a gentle force, causing Sima Chuan to begin falling backward, gradually descending until, with a loud splash, he landed in the river.
Lai Liqing was already feeling weak. He thought to himself that he was only slightly stronger than Sima Chuan at this moment and would need to practice more upon returning.
“Let’s go. We are no longer needed here; let them wallow in their sorrow!” Lai Liqing sighed in relief.
Qiong and Luo Mengqi didn’t hesitate for a moment and jumped directly into the river. Although the water was bone-chillingly cold, they couldn’t afford to care about that anymore; all they hoped for was to save Sima Chuan. However, they were met with disappointment. No matter how hard they searched, they could not find even a trace of Sima Chuan or catch a whiff of his presence; even Qiong's sensing abilities proved useless.
With no other choice, under Yiling's persuasion, Qiong and Luo Mengqi had to return, filled with worry.
A boat was anchored in the river. Sitting in the boat was Liu Chuan, who was preparing for his master Liu Bin's sixtieth birthday celebration. Since his master enjoyed eating fish, Liu Chuan, despite being only eighteen years old and the eldest disciple, felt it was his duty to catch some fish early in the morning. As for the arrangements for the birthday banquet, that was handled by his master's granddaughter—his junior sister—who always took charge of such matters while he merely assisted her. Now everyone was busy inside Liu Manor, leaving him free from worry.
“It should be about time!” Liu Chuan thought to himself. He stood up and stretched before starting to pull in the net. As he pulled, he felt a surge of excitement because the net was noticeably heavier.
His efforts waiting there had not been in vain; indeed, several fish had been caught, including some larger ones. However, when he finally pulled up the entire net, he was shocked to find a person entangled within it. After checking, he discovered that the person still had a faint breath. “If I bring him back to my master, he should be able to save him; but why is his body so much colder than normal?”
Liu Chuan didn’t have time to ponder this further; he quickly grabbed the fish and hoisted the person onto his back as he hurried back to Liu Manor.
Outside Liu Manor, his third junior brother Liu Feng and fourth junior sister Yu Qin were welcoming guests. Upon seeing their senior brother return, they rushed forward, but Liu Chuan immediately stopped them and instructed them to continue receiving guests while he hurried inside.
Just as Liu Chuan intended to quicken his pace (after all, Liu Manor was quite large), someone suddenly jumped out in front of him, nearly startling him. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was Liu Qing (his fifth junior sister). “Liu Qing? So it’s you! Why aren’t you working?”
“I’ve finished all my tasks and am taking a break now. When I saw you coming back, I thought I’d give you a little scare. Hehe! Did I frighten you at all, big brother?” Liu Qing replied playfully.
Liu Chuan forced a smile and said, “A little.”
“Hey? Who are you carrying on your back?” Liu Qing then noticed that Liu Chuan had someone slung over him.
"Almost forgot, hurry and take me to find the Master."
Just as they were approaching Liu Bin's room, Liu Bin suddenly burst out, shouting, "Fish, fish, I smell fish!"
At that moment, Liu Chuan and Liu Qing stood frozen like two statues. When Liu Bin looked around, he finally noticed his two disciples staring blankly, and feeling a bit embarrassed, he cleared his throat and asked seriously, "What is it, my dear disciples?"
Liu Chuan then remembered his purpose and said to his Master, "Master, while I was fishing, I accidentally caught a person. He still has a breath of life, but his body is unusually cold."
It seemed that Liu Bin only heard the word "fish," and he eagerly asked, "Is there fish? Quickly, give it to me."
Liu Chuan handed over several fresh fish he had prepared. Liu Bin picked up the fish and sniffed them vigorously, praising, "Good, good!"
"Uh! Master, shouldn't we save the person first?" Liu Chuan reminded his overly excited Master.
Only then did Liu Bin remember that saving the person should come first. In an instant, he regained his dignified demeanor and said to his disciples, "It was my oversight. Quickly bring the injured person into my room and lay him on the bed. Remove all his clothing."
"Yes, Liu Chuan obeys."
Hearing this, Liu Qing awkwardly said, "Then I'll wait at the door."
