After fulfilling his master's request, Liu Bin began to treat the injuries of the young boy saved by Liu Chuan. "The updates are coming in quickly," Le Wen remarked.
The Liu family is one of the prominent families in the ancient city of Fucheng, founded by Liu Bin. Fucheng is a relatively large island nation that has largely preserved its ancient characteristics and rich culture, earning it the title of a custodian of ancient culture.
Liu Bin has had a passion for martial arts since childhood. In his youth, he established the Carefree Sect, with its secret technique known as the Carefree Technique. He later took on disciples and expanded the sect.
Today, he takes great pride in the six disciples he personally selected: his eldest disciple Liu Chuan, second disciple Shang Qiong, third disciple Liu Feng, fourth disciple Yu Qin, fifth disciple Liu Qing, and sixth disciple Hu Xing.
Among them, Shang Qiong is recognized by Liu Bin as his adopted granddaughter.
Just as Liu Bin finished treating the young boy's wounds, someone knocked on the door. Liu Bin politely called out, "Please come in."
Seeing that it was Shang Qiong, he hurriedly said, "Ah, my dear granddaughter, why are you knocking? You can just come in whenever you like!"
"Grandpa usually says that, but I heard from Junior Sister Liu Qing that you were inside treating someone, so I thought it would be impolite to barge in and knocked first."
Liu Bin chuckled, "Haha, my granddaughter is still so well-behaved. So, what brings you here?"
"Oh, it's like this: it's about time for you to go attend the banquet and meet the guests." Then she suddenly changed her tone and continued, "Just now, Grandpa was chatting happily with the guests, but then suddenly vanished without a trace! It left me running around in a panic."
"Alright, my dear granddaughter, don't be angry anymore. How can I make it up to you?"
"Let us go out to play for a while."
"Okay, it's settled then."
"However, it seems someone has been absent all morning. Shouldn't there be a punishment?" Shang Qiong shot a glance at Liu Chuan.
Seeing this, Liu Bin quickly came to Liu Chuan's defense. "Your senior brother went fishing for Grandpa, you know how much he loves fish. Plus, he even saved someone!"
"Hmph! Always protecting him."
"Oh my dear granddaughter..."
"Alright, I'll let him off this time, but next time he won't be so lucky. By the way, how is that person doing?"
Liu Bin patted his chest confidently and said, "Don't worry, with your grandpa around! Just let him rest for a bit and he'll be fine."
"Then let's go!" Shang Qiong dragged Liu Bin towards the exit. However, Liu Bin kept calling out to Liu Chuan. "Liu Chuan, let's go. Let him rest enough."
"Master, you go ahead. I'll stay a little longer and bring the fish over later."
"Okay, hurry up!"
"Let's go." Shang Qiong was already annoyed and was pulling her grandfather towards the main hall.
As soon as everyone saw Liu Bin come out, they all stepped forward to offer their congratulations. Before long, the Birthday Banquet began. The Mayor of Fucheng Town, sitting next to Liu Bin, asked, "Old Liu, where is your senior disciple Liu Chuan?"
"Oh, he has something to take care of and will be here shortly."
The hosts of this Birthday Banquet were naturally several of Liu Bin's disciples, with Shang Qiong being in charge of the arrangements. Everyone admired Shang Qiong, Liu Bin's beloved granddaughter; she excelled in everything she did. No one was ever dissatisfied with the tasks she handled.
At the beginning, it was Shang Qiong who led her junior disciples in delivering a speech for the Birthday Banquet. Seizing the opportunity, Shang Qiong and her fellow disciples offered their best wishes to their beloved master. However, many were puzzled as to why only five of the six most valued disciples of Liu Bin were present, with the absent one being the eldest brother. This sparked some murmurs among the guests, but Liu Bin seemed completely unfazed, intently watching his disciples' performances. Meanwhile, Shang Qiong silently complained and thought about how to deal with her seemingly idle eldest brother after the banquet.
The performance led by Shang Qiong and her juniors was truly delightful, earning them applause from the audience.
Just as everyone's attention was focused on the stage, a figure suddenly leaped in from the entrance, performing a few spins among the guests. Finally, they landed gracefully in front of Liu Bin's birthday table, kneeling down and raising a wooden tray.
"Disciple Liu Chuan wishes Master a happy birthday. First wish: may Master have fortune as vast as the Eastern Sea and longevity like the Southern Mountain; second wish: may Master enjoy bright days like the sun and moon, and may cranes bring eternal spring; third wish: may Master always wear a smile and enjoy everlasting happiness. I present to you Master’s favorite three dishes: sweet and sour fish, braised fish, and secret grilled fish. These were personally prepared by me; please accept them."
"Good, get up quickly! Let me taste!" Liu Bin could hardly contain his excitement, gripping his chopsticks tightly.
"Yes." Liu Chuan placed the three dishes in front of Liu Bin, arranging them in order. As Liu Bin savored each dish, his expression was one of pure enjoyment. He repeatedly exclaimed "Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!" After his words echoed through the room, applause erupted from those nearby, growing louder by the moment.
"Thank you, Master!" Liu Chuan turned to look at Shang Qiong, displaying a victorious grin. Shang Qiong shot him a glare but quickly redirected everyone's attention back to the stage.
After several performances of dragon dances, lion dances, and operatic singing, Shang Qiong reappeared on stage to announce the start of the birthday celebrations. As soon as she spoke, all of Liu Bin's beloved students, disciples, Liu family members, and workers from Liu Manor rushed forward to offer their congratulations. The front courtyard was filled with celebratory voices that continued for quite some time.
Finally, Liu Bin spoke up: "Thank you all for coming. I imagine you've been sitting here for quite a while and must be hungry. Bring out the dishes."
With all the dishes ready, Liu Bin added, "Enjoy your food and drink to your heart's content."
As most guests began to leave, Liu Chuan brought some fresh food from the kitchen to Liu Bin's room. However, that person remained unresponsive.
Not long after, Liu Bin hurried over to inquire about Liu Chuan. After hearing his honest report, several more people suddenly entered Liu Bin's room. Without needing to think twice, he remarked: "What? My dear granddaughter still wants to scare Grandpa?" He turned around and ruffled Shang Qiong's hair while four others followed behind her.
Upon seeing the person on the bed, curiosity sparked among Shang Qiong and her companions. Liu Chuan recounted what had happened again and added, "What? Didn’t Sister Liu Qing tell you?"
Liu Qing smiled lightly and said, "I was just preparing for the matters on stage, so I forgot."
"Then how does Master plan to deal with this person?" The one speaking was Yu Qin.
Before Liu Bin could respond, Liu Feng spoke up directly, "In my opinion, this person's identity is unclear, but he doesn't seem like a bad person. Master could take him into the residence first; once he wakes up, we can ask him then."
"Indeed." Liu Bin stroked his white beard and said, "Let's proceed with that for now."
"However, this person is different from ordinary people," Liu Chuan suddenly interjected.
Liu Feng, curious, asked Liu Chuan, "Why do you say that, Senior Brother?"
Liu Bin answered their questions: "While I was treating his injuries, I discovered that although he had been submerged in the river, there were no signs of having been soaked. His body temperature was several times colder than that of an ordinary person. He has no external or internal injuries; he has simply been in a state of unconsciousness. Moreover, it seems there is an unknown power hidden within him that has sustained him until now."
Everyone was astonished; it had been many years since they had encountered someone like this. Once they found such a person, nurturing him well would surely lead to extraordinary results in the future.
At this moment, Liu Xing, who had been standing aside, finally spoke up. "Master, I think it’s inappropriate for this person to keep sleeping in your room. There happens to be an empty room in the back courtyard where we disciples can take care of him. If anything happens, we will report to you immediately. What do you think, Master?"
Liu Bin sought the opinions of the other disciples, and they all agreed with Liu Xing's suggestion. Thus, Liu Bin instructed the disciples to move the unconscious young man to the back courtyard.
