Sima Chuan gripped the Mystic Sword tightly and lunged straight at the Shadow Leader, who quickly drew his sword to block and retreated a few steps. The updates were coming in fast. Sima Chuan, seizing the advantage, wielded his sword with both hands, slashing diagonally. The Shadow Leader saw the Mystic Sword trailing a shimmering blue aura, realizing that if he couldn't evade such a fierce strike, he would surely be cleaved in two. He tightened his grip on the Shadow Sword and stepped forward to clash with Sima Chuan's Mystic Sword.
With a resounding clang, the Shadow Sword was severed in half. Sima Chuan pressed on with force, swinging horizontally and leaving a trail of sparks across the Shadow Leader's chest. Ignoring the wound, the Shadow Leader thrust the hilt of his short sword against Sima Chuan, catching him off guard and forcing him to step back. Seizing the opportunity, the Shadow Leader struck at Sima Chuan's shoulder while simultaneously delivering a powerful kick.
Sima Chuan felt his strength waning, his vision blurring. He had already sustained serious injuries earlier, but Luo Mengqi's injury had spurred him on. Now he was propelled backward rapidly, and through his hazy sight, he saw a shadow charging directly at him. Qiong and Yiling watched as the Shadow Leader hurled the Shadow Sword at Sima Chuan; they immediately lunged forward, but the speed of the Shadow Sword was too great. They could only watch helplessly as it pierced Sima Chuan's chest. With a cry of pain, he fell to the ground.
The Shadow Leader looked at Sima Chuan's pitiful state, a cruel smile creeping across his lips. Qiong turned her head, her eyes blazing with fury as she pounced toward the Shadow Leader like a wild beast. The Shadow Leader dodged swiftly and leaped away. In the courtyard, Number One and Two led several other Shadow Mech Soldiers as they cleared an area, standing still while the Mechanical Guards remained motionless, waiting for orders from the Shadow Legion. Upon seeing the Shadow Leader emerge, they quickly retreated at his signal.
Qiong couldn't catch up and could only rush into the Star Maiden Palace in frustration.
At that moment, Markett pushed through the surrounding Mechanical Guards. If they hadn't blocked his way earlier, he would have already rushed to Sima Chuan's side.
"Clear a path!" Aitak commanded, and immediately the Mechanical Guards parted to allow passage. Markett rushed in ahead of Aitak and saw Sima Chuan lying bloodied and dismembered on the ground alongside the unconscious Luo Mengqi amidst the ruins.
"Noel." Markett ran to Sima Chuan's side and lifted him up, tears streaming down his face.
Aitak and the others followed him inside, staring in disbelief at the devastation before them. In their minds, they had never imagined that Robots and Mechanical Guards could cause such destruction without heavy weaponry.
"Noel." Adela and Betis rushed to Sima Chuan upon seeing him covered in blood, staring blankly at him.
Aitak noticed Adela's expression and felt a shift in atmosphere; suddenly he seemed to recall something important and murmured to himself in shock: "They just... they just called him..."
"Noel." Aitak turned to see Kathy smiling brightly.
Without regard for appearances, Aitak rushed over to Adela's side and asked urgently, "Did you just call him Noel?"
"I... I..." Adela and Betis realized they had let something slip.
"Tell me quickly!" Aitak shouted at Adela.
"That's right, he is Noel, my grandson, my own flesh and blood!" Markett's words drew everyone's attention as he lovingly stroked Sima Chuan's face.
"So you are..." Aitak said, filled with excitement.
"Yes, I am Markett, the one who disappeared," Markett replied gently, his hand still on Sima Chuan's face.
Aitak was so surprised that he nearly jumped up, but he restrained himself. He feared that these people would look at him like a fool, which would be very impolite. Aitak calmed his racing heart and shouted to the Mechanical Guard at the entrance, "Quickly call for the medical team, hurry!"
"Yes." A squad of Mechanical Guards immediately retreated.
Before long, a team of medics arrived at Star Maiden Palace with medical equipment, and Sima Chuan and Luo Mengqi were quickly treated. The results showed that Luo Mengqi had only minor injuries and would be fine after a night's rest; however, Sima Chuan was severely injured and needed proper recuperation.
Meanwhile, Aitak issued a strict order to the Mechanical Guards not to leak any information about tonight's events. Of course, the Mechanical Guard Squad would comply without any concerns about issues arising.
Inside Nai Hall.
"Paswo, Sente, what should we do next?" Nai asked with a grim expression. After hearing the report from Shadow Leader, his mood had plummeted. He hadn't expected Sima Chuan to actually come into contact with Star Master. However, he had prepared for both outcomes. When he learned that Sima Chuan was injured—though not fatal—it was enough to keep him out of action for a while; Nai's mood improved slightly.
Paswo and Sente exchanged glances and noticed each other's hesitation.
"What’s wrong? Are you hesitating? We're just one step away," Nai said.
Upon hearing that they were just one step away, Paswo and Sente gritted their teeth and said in unison, "We will follow your lead."
"Good. Paswo, Sente, go take that final step. But remember to be quick; I will buy you some time. Now go," Nai waved his hand dismissively.
"Yes." Paswo and Sente respectfully withdrew.
"Hahaha... Markett, Sade, no matter how you try to stop me, it hasn't reached that point yet. Hmph! If I had known, I wouldn't have fought for the so-called Akapa and Noel Battleship technology; otherwise, it wouldn't have turned out like this. Just watch, soon I will be able to control the entire galaxy," Nai laughed maniacally.
In the temporary ward of Sima Chuan, Aitak's family—Betis, Luo Mengqi, Qiong, Yiling, and Markett—were gathered around Sima Chuan's 'bed.'
(Sima Chuan's 'bed' resembled a special therapeutic 'bed' similar to an ice 'bed'; biological pods were already outdated.)
Markett sighed and walked over to Qiong's side, patting his shoulder. "Restore everyone's appearance."
Qiong nodded and began his work. Once Markett, Luo Mengqi, Yiling, and his own appearances were restored, Qiong approached Sima Chuan's sick 'bed' and reverted Sima Chuan's appearance to its original state. In no time, a clean and handsome face appeared before everyone.
Markett slowly walked up to Sima Chuan, his eyes unwittingly moistening. As he gently caressed Sima Chuan's face, he said regretfully, "It's all my fault. If I had known, I wouldn't have done this. You should have had a beautiful childhood, but I sent you to Earth. You’ve been wandering every day. How many times did others adopt you? You smiled because you loved freedom; how many times did you go hungry yet shared your food with friends who were just like you? How many times did you huddle in a corner during the cold? How many times did you fall ill on the road yet pretended everything was fine...
"It's all my fault! Noel, if I had known, I would have stayed by your side all these years, and we could have traveled together everywhere without getting involved in these disputes. It's all my fault." Tears streamed down Markett's face as they dripped onto Sima Chuan's hand.
Everyone present listened to Markett's self-reproachful monologue, tears falling unconsciously from their eyes. Especially Betis; she had never considered how Sima Chuan had lived all these years. Hearing Markett's account and comparing it with her own life made her finally break down in loud sobs.
Even Qiong had never thought that Sima Chuan's life could be so tragic. He always believed that the smile on Sima Chuan's face was his trademark, but he was wrong. His heart twisted painfully as he felt a true ache. At that moment, Qiong evolved.
