After taking a break, Alger and Qiong had basically figured out the basic situation here. Following that, they didn’t rest at the inn; instead, they delved deeper into gathering information while searching for Barnett and Sima Chuan, as well as looking for news about Nai. However, after searching for so long, they found no information about Nai at all. Perhaps their search was not thorough enough, or maybe Nai had hidden himself from the very beginning. Both possibilities were valid. 0

Alger and Qiong continued living this way, while Barnett was doing something similar. However, it seemed that Barnett had stumbled upon some secret information, so he stopped his inquiries and began looking for Alger, Qiong, and Sima Chuan. Not long after, Alger and Qiong encountered Barnett. 0

After exchanging greetings with excitement, Barnett discreetly passed a message to Alger and Qiong. The content of the message was: put everything down for now; there is important news; find a place. When Alger and Qiong saw this message, their expressions changed slightly, but they quickly returned to normal and followed Barnett while remaining alert to their surroundings. 0

Once they reached a secluded corner where no one was around, the three of them quietly scanned the area. After confirming that nothing seemed amiss, they sat together in a circle. Alger was the first to ask, “Captain, what’s the important news?” 0

Barnett glanced at Alger and Qiong before beginning, “Nai arrived here when the chaos started. After forming his own faction, he went into hiding.” 0

“No way! Captain, is this news reliable?” Alger asked in surprise. 0

“Is it trustworthy?” Qiong inquired. 0

Barnett nodded and said, “I overheard this from a Militants member by chance.” 0

“Militants?” Alger and Qiong exchanged glances, both seeing the confusion in each other’s eyes. 0

Barnett smiled but didn’t say anything; he had already anticipated that Alger and Qiong would react this way upon hearing the news. 0

“Captain, please tell us what’s really going on,” Alger urged. Qiong remained silent but shared the same sentiment. 0

“Alright,” Barnett said as he took a sip of his drink. “I believe you have grasped the basic situation. Those capitalists and ambitious individuals formed a militia to protect their own interests. You should be aware of this; it’s also recorded in Star History. However, an unexpected event has occurred—specifically, a person who shouldn’t have appeared has disrupted this normal course of events.” 0

“Nai?” Alger and Qiong said in unison. They were not foolish; with their high intelligence, they could naturally guess who Barnett was referring to. 0

"That's right, it's Nai." Barnett paused for a moment before continuing, "I encountered that Militant in a tavern. At first, there was nothing unusual about a Militant. However, as I passed by him, I realized this person had undergone specialized training, and it was quite advanced training at that. So, I decided to scan that Militant and discovered that he had a surveillance device implanted in his body. I'm sure you're all familiar with this monitoring device, and it's quite famous." 0

"It's the Ziku Monitor," Alger and Joan exclaimed in surprise. 0

The Ziku Monitor was created by a mad scientist named Ziku, who had a fascination with the human body and everything happening within it. He developed the first generation of the Ziku Monitor. However, the first generation was poorly designed, so he dedicated himself to research and ultimately created a new version of the Ziku Monitor. Gradually, Ziku became dissatisfied with merely monitoring humans; he began to set his sights on **. He succeeded in implanting the Ziku Monitor into one of his 'disciples', keeping tabs on everything about him. As this 'disciple' deepened his learning and understanding of Ziku, he eventually realized that a surveillance device had been placed inside him by Ziku. In the end, this 'disciple' reported the matter to the Ministry of Technology, leading to Ziku's arrest. However, his technology remained stored in a secret document within the Ministry of Technology. 0

"That's right, it's the Ziku monitor. So I concluded that this person might know something about Nai. I then proceeded to disable the Ziku monitor and fabricated some false information to upload onto it. Afterward, I approached him, but he was very resistant and tried to drive me away. So I decided to hypnotize him, making him drink while answering my questions. Through this process, I understood the whole situation." 0

"Captain, hurry up," Alger urged as he noticed Barnett had paused. 0

"This Militant was originally part of an armed group formed by someone named Koru. This group specialized in robbing wealthy individuals to fund their operations. Coincidentally, this was around the time when Nai arrived here—October 7th, Year 9 of the Star History. At that time, Nai had just come here and was unfamiliar with everything; they needed someone to guide them when Koru's armed group appeared. Ironically, Koru attempted to rob Nai. In just seconds, Nai's Shadow Legion took down all members of Koru's armed group without any survivors. Afterward, instead of punishing them, Nai simply ordered their surrender. 0

"Koru, for some reason, followed Nai in front of all the other Militants. Of course, half of those loyal to Koru also followed suit. To further intimidate them, Nai had the Shadow Legion demonstrate their power. Later on, Nai instructed the Shadow Legion to cleanse all toxins from the bodies of those who had followed him and enhanced their physical abilities. Only then did these Militants truly begin to respect Nai. 0

"After sorting out these Militants, Nai assigned some tasks to Koru, leaving behind two Shadow Mech Soldiers to assist him before going into hiding. The two Shadow Mech Soldiers helped strengthen the armed group and trained these Militants. Once this armed group reached a certain level of growth, they instructed Koru, following Nai's orders, to infiltrate capitalists and ambitious individuals nearby, starting to control them. Those who refused were killed outright and replaced with Mechanical Soldiers. 0

"Now all those capitalists and ambitious individuals are under Nai's control, and that armed group has fully merged into another faction—the Liberation Army. The nature behind the current chaos has fundamentally changed since Nai got involved; everything began shifting in a different direction. Although we don't know if this timeline will affect that future timeline in any way, we must prepare for the worst." 0

"Joan." Joan hadn't expected for Barnett to call her directly after finishing his explanation. However, upon seeing the expression on his face, she immediately responded seriously, "Yes, Captain." 0

"Can you contact Sima Chuan quickly?" 0

"Not at this moment, Captain. However, I can roughly locate where he is." 0

"Alright then, Joan." Standing up, Barnett looked at her and said, "Find out where Sima Chuan is as soon as possible; we need to regroup with him." 0

"Yes, Captain." 0

"Then Captain, what should I do?" Alger asked. 0

"You just continue gathering intelligence." 0

"Alright then," Alger replied helplessly. 0

Days passed like this. Sima Chuan would come to the orphanage with Annie to play with the children and occasionally teach them some techniques. Sometimes, they would help clean up the orphanage as well, and life was quite good. 0

Sima Chuan was busy leading the children in a thorough cleaning when he didn't notice the three people standing at the entrance. After a while, one of the somewhat unruly young men among them spoke up, "Hey, isn't that our famous Sima Chuan? What brings you here working with a bunch of friends?" 0

Upon hearing that familiar voice, Sima Chuan stopped what he was doing and turned towards the entrance, smiling slightly. The children also paused at the sound but glared at the three people at the door. 0

Seeing the children's expressions, Alger felt he had misspoken and scratched the back of his head awkwardly, chuckling sheepishly. 0

"Alright," Sima Chuan said, stopping the children's hostility. "You don't need to act like that; they are my friends who came specifically to find me. You all finish your work first; those who do well will get rewards." 0

"Oh yeah, that's great! The big brother is really nice!" The children cheered. 0
