"Let's go, Annie." Sima Chuan said as he pulled Annie outside.
"What do you need Moni for?" Annie asked, keeping pace with Sima Chuan.
"I need his help with something."
"That old man? What can he possibly do to help?" Annie scoffed.
"Alright, don't underestimate everyone. We don't even know if Moni can assist us yet; we just need to check it out first."
"Fine."
In a certain underground palace of Kovok Star, Nai was seated on a throne atop a high platform, resting his head on one hand while idly playing with a wine glass in the other, the liquid inside swaying gently.
"Paswo, how is the research coming along?" Nai inquired.
Paswo smiled and replied, "Your Majesty, the research is progressing perfectly. It shouldn't be long before we achieve success."
"That's good to hear." Nai then turned to Shadow Leader. "Have you discovered any agents sent by Aitak yet?"
"Not at the moment."
Nai fell into deep thought, and those below him dared not disturb him. After a long pause, Nai spoke again. "Shadow Leader, continue monitoring for any unusual activity and conduct a search across the entire planet to see if they have already arrived here."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Shadow Leader responded before leading the Shadow Legion away.
"Paswo, keep up the research and also upgrade the Mechanical Soldiers by one level."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Paswo was about to leave when Nai stopped him. "Paswo, wait a moment. There’s something else I need to discuss with you."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Paswo quickly returned.
"Koru, have you completed the tasks I assigned to you?" Nai asked.
"I have completed them, Your Majesty," Koru replied respectfully.
"Where is Sardana currently located?"
"Sardana?" Upon hearing that name, Paswo felt a shiver run down his spine. Koru might not know who Sardana was, but he had read about Sardana in Star History and knew exactly what kind of person he was. He never expected the king would move against Sardana so soon.
Nai ignored Paswo's astonishment and listened to Koru's response. "Sardana is currently in Debakas. They have established a base there, and according to intelligence, Sardana will soon lead half of the Alliance to a town called Sagara."
"Oh?" A slight smile appeared on Nai's lips. "Paswo, prepare three hundred Mechanical Soldiers for Koru to command."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Paswo responded flatly. However, Koru was filled with excitement. He had witnessed the power of Mechanical Soldiers before and had always dreamed of having some under his command—even just one would suffice. Now the king was giving him three hundred! He hurriedly expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Your Majesty! Thank you!"
Nai waved his hand dismissively and said, "I know you've wanted Mechanical Soldiers for a long time; it just wasn't the right time before. Now that I'm giving you three hundred, it's for you to ambush Sardana in Sagara Town. You must ensure he dies there. If you succeed, those three hundred Mechanical Soldiers will be yours permanently. But if you fail..." Nai's expression hardened at the end.
At this point, Koru was so excited that he barely registered Nai's final words. The thought of acquiring those three hundred Mechanical Soldiers filled him with exhilaration as he declared, "Your Majesty, don’t worry! I will make sure Sardana does not live! If I fail, I will come to you personally with my head!"
"Alright, you may go."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Koru ran out in excitement. Seeing Koru's demeanor, Paswo turned to Nai with concern and said, "Your Majesty, I can't shake the feeling that sending Koru might not be reliable."
Nai smiled at Paswo and said, "Paswo, do you think I'm sending Koru to eliminate Sardana?"
"Could it be...?"
Nai nodded and said, "That's right. I deliberately held back from taking action against Sardana because I'm still not sure if Aitak has sent anyone over. We all understand the records on Star History, so this time I want Koru to probe the situation. Of course, if Aitak hasn't sent anyone, then killing Sardana wouldn't be a big deal."
"I understand."
"However, if Aitak has sent someone, then we should take out whoever we can. But if the person they sent is too strong, just make sure Koru stays safe; after all, there are some things he still needs to do," Nai added.
"Got it, I'll make arrangements right away."
"Go ahead."
Paswo respectfully withdrew.
In the dead of night, Sima Chuan and Annie returned to the slums. However, they didn't rest and headed straight for the gold shop run by Moni.
Knock knock knock...
"Who is it?" a muffled voice came from inside the shop.
"Old man Moni, hurry up and open the 'door,' it's me," Annie said as she knocked again.
"Wait a moment," came the sound of rustling clothes from within.
Before long, the 'door' opened slightly, and Moni's head peeked out. Seeing Sima Chuan and Annie, he looked puzzled and asked, "What brings you here so late?"
Annie glanced at Sima Chuan and said, "Old man Moni, we're here to ask for your help."
Moni's curiosity deepened upon hearing Annie's words. "What do you need my help with?"
"We're looking for someone, and it's urgent," Sima Chuan replied.
"Looking for someone? I can't help with that. I'm just a jeweler," Moni shook her head.
"This person is called Sardana." Moni had been confused by Sima Chuan and the others' arrival, but upon hearing the name Sardana, her expression changed, and the haze of confusion lifted. However, she concealed it well and quickly returned to normal. But Sima Chuan was not an ordinary person; he noticed every movement and expression of Moni. At that moment, he guessed that Moni must have some connection to Sardana.
"I've never heard of this person. Why? Is he famous or does he owe you something?" Moni feigned a puzzled look as she asked Sima Chuan and Annie.
"Not at all," Sima Chuan shook his head. "We're looking for him to inform him that when he heads to Sagara Town or arrives in Sagala, he will be ambushed by the rebel forces. Moreover, it's highly likely they intend to kill Sardana directly."
Moni was shocked by Sima Chuan's words. Who was this person? How did he know about Sardana, his recent movements, and how did he acquire information about the rebel forces?
Realizing that Sima Chuan and Annie were still there, Moni refrained from delving deeper and instead asked, "Is that why you're looking for him?"
"Of course," Sima Chuan nodded. "Sardana's fate is tied to the development of this planet and will also influence its future direction."
Moni and Annie stared at Sima Chuan in astonishment, unable to comprehend why he would say such a thing. Sima Chuan was absolutely correct; it was because of Sardana that the entire planet achieved unification. Consequently, the planet experienced rapid development, leading to advancements in technology. However, if Nai were in charge, Nai would establish a new empire, a new technological superpower, which would elevate the planet's technology by several millennia. The impact on the future would be immeasurable.
Sima Chuan understood why Moni and Annie wore such expressions and said, "The Alliance was developed by Sardana a few years ago, and during these years, the Alliance has suffered almost no damage. For this planet to develop anew, someone must quell the chaos. In terms of character and wisdom, Sardana is undoubtedly the best choice."
Upon hearing Sima Chuan's praise for Sardana, Moni imperceptibly nodded in agreement.
