"Is this the reason you want to join the Alliance?" Annie asked from the side.
"Yes," Sima Chuan nodded, then looked directly at Moni. "Moni, I know you know about the Alliance, and you also know about Sardana."
Moni shot a wary glance at Sima Chuan, then smiled. "Sima Chuan, I don't know why you're saying this, but I truly don't know anything about Sardana. I've heard a bit about the Alliance."
Sima Chuan sighed. "Moni, I mean no harm; I genuinely want to help Sardana."
"Then go help Sardana."
"Moni, I know you are a member of the Alliance and that you have a pretty good relationship with Sardana."
"You..." Moni started to speak, but Sima Chuan cut him off. "I don't want to say much more. I saw everything you did just now, so I just want you to relay a message to Sardana. On his way to Sagara Town, or perhaps even in Sagara Town itself, he will be in danger. But you can rest assured that we will ensure nothing happens to him while he's in Sagara Town. The main concern is on the road; he needs to be vigilant and also watch out for any traitors around him. That's all I have to say; we're leaving now." With that, Sima Chuan grabbed Annie and turned to leave, leaving a bewildered Moni standing there.
After walking for a short distance, Annie said to Sima Chuan, "Chuan, I think you should have a proper talk with him. Right now, he must be feeling quite suspicious of you."
"It's fine. We want him to be cautious; that way they'll know someone has their information under wraps, making them more alert in everything they do. I'm also reminding Sardana."
"Alright then. What should we do next?"
"Let's find a place to rest for a bit; we'll head back first thing in the morning."
Once Moni saw that Sima Chuan and Annie had walked far away, he closed the shop door and entered the back room. He carefully looked around and, after not finding anything unusual, moved a bed aside. After checking again, he pried open a stone slab on the floor. Once the slab was removed, it revealed a rectangular space underneath containing a black box. Moni cautiously took out the black box.
After opening it, Moni retrieved a specialized communication device from inside and tuned into a frequency before dialing it. After waiting for some time, a raspy voice came through on the other end. "What's going on? Is there something happening?"
Moni glanced around before responding, "Someone came by today."
"Who is it?" someone asked curiously from the other side.
"This person is very young, probably around twenty years old, but he possesses some important information about the team."
"What happened?" The person on the other side paused noticeably after hearing Moni's words.
"It seems that this person is called Sima Chuan. He knows the leader of the team and has a lot of intelligence about the enemy. He came to inform me that the team's actions will be ambushed, but they will handle the dangers at their destination, allowing the team to proceed safely."
"What does he mean?"
"He wants to join the team."
"Why?"
"If this planet wants to quell the chaos, someone has to step up, and the leader is undoubtedly the best choice. At the same time, he said some rather cryptic things."
"What were they?"
"The leader will influence the future development of this planet."
The person on the other side chuckled, "Does he have the ability to foresee the future?"
"What should I do about it?"
"Keep an eye on him for now and make a decision when we get there."
"I understand."
After ending the call, Moni tidied up and restored everything to its original state before lying down on the bed to sleep. However, what Moni didn't know was that beneath his bed, an object was watching everything he did. This object was a mini surveillance robot that Sima Chuan had quietly placed in Moni's shop. After obtaining the answers he wanted, Sima Chuan sent an encrypted message to Barnett and the others: he had confirmed his relationship with the Alliance and had a deep connection with Sardana. After sending this message, Sima Chuan lay down on his bed to sleep. However, after a while, he still couldn't fall asleep, so he decided to get up and stepped outside onto the rooftop.
"Sigh!" Sima Chuan looked at the starless night sky. At this time, the entire slum seemed particularly quiet and somewhat desolate. With a bewildered expression, Sima Chuan gazed into the distance and muttered to himself, "Is it really true that peace can only be achieved through war? Why can't there be a better way?"
"There is another way." A voice emerged from within Sima Chuan.
"Akapa!" Sima Chuan exclaimed excitedly.
"Chuan, long time no see," Akapa greeted him.
"Akapa, how did you come out?" Sima Chuan asked curiously.
"For you."
"For me?" Sima Chuan pointed at himself in confusion.
"Have you not noticed that after a series of events, your mindset has begun to change? You are no longer as indifferent as before; you no longer bury all your joys and sorrows deep within. The current you is not the lonely, bland person you used to be. You can mingle with the children, bring them joy, and be with friends. You can let go of yourself and engage in sincere exchanges with them."
"Yeah. I've changed; I didn't even realize it myself," Sima Chuan chuckled self-deprecatingly.
"In fact, I know what you're thinking, Chuan. You just want to be an ordinary person, free to wander wherever you please. You've never truly participated in a war, so when you saw the conflict between two races on Blue Ocean Star last time, you immediately stepped in to stop it. But as a Mechanical Warrior, you absolutely cannot distance yourself from war because our existence is meant to protect peace. The best way to safeguard peace is through war."
"What about your other method?" Sima Chuan recalled what Akapa had just said.
"Another way is to make them love peace and resist war in their minds, but that is not the best method. Sardana once tried to use this approach to instill a love for peace and an innate resistance to war in people, but he failed. It was then that he realized that only by fighting can one stop war and better stabilize peace. Thus, he formed the Alliance," Akapa said.
"Is it really only through war that we can achieve peace?"
"Yes, Chuan. It is the only way to better stabilize peace. And as a Mechanical Warrior, one's mindset is the most important; otherwise, even great power is useless."
"Does that mean I really have to join the war?"
"Yes," Akapa affirmed.
"Sigh!" Sima Chuan sighed lightly.
"Chuan, have you thought about those who suffer from war?"
At Akapa's words, Sima Chuan's heart trembled. Akapa sensed Sima Chuan's unease but continued, "When they are persecuted by war, what can we do? We cannot simply promote ideas of love for peace and resistance to war because those capitalists and ambitious individuals will not heed such notions. We must use our own abilities to stop and quell the war."
Looking at the pitch-black night sky, Sima Chuan's heart began to clear gradually. To dispel this darkness, one must use light. Sima Chuan had never truly witnessed war; he did not understand the suffering of others. Only through experience can one grasp the reality of existence. Just like how the training in the virtual training ground could never compare to real training.
"I understand now. Thank you, Akapa." Sima Chuan stood up, looking into the distance with determination.
"No need to thank me; this is what I should do," Akapa smiled and faded away.
