Today, you just sleep... pushing open your parents' bedroom door, you looked inside at the chaotic scene. Yang Xiaoyou also obediently closed the door. Usually, you treated that space as a temporary storage room, but over time, it had truly become one.
"You can sleep in my room; I'll just take the sofa," Yang Xiaoyou said shyly after wiping away some sweat, feeling that as the person picking someone up, she was quite inadequate.
"It's fine. You're still growing; you should sleep in the bedroom. I'm used to being outside anyway. We could share if you'd like," Nobunaga Hideyoshi casually replied without much thought.
However, Yang Xiaoyou naturally couldn't let him sleep on the sofa, and it was out of the question for her to sleep with him. Well, squeezing in with an ordinary guy wouldn't be a problem, but with Nobunaga Hideyoshi? That was a different story.
Just then, Nobunaga Hideyoshi suddenly received a phone call. After hearing something from the other end, he frowned slightly and calmly said, "I understand. Let's do it later. Don't worry; we won't take advantage of the situation."
After hanging up, he rested his chin on his hand and pondered for a moment.
"Did something happen?" Yang Xiaoyou asked with a strange expression.
"The chairman of the negotiations committed suicide. Well, after this incident, it's not really suitable to press for a lower price on such a significant issue anymore. It's a bit unfortunate," Nobunaga Hideyoshi said without hiding anything from Yang Xiaoyou.
Hearing about this incident surprised Yang Xiaoyou. She never expected Sun Jiahao, who built everything from scratch through hard work, would be unable to withstand such a blow. After experiencing this kind of pain, was he really unable to bear losing again?
"Open the door! Open the door! If you don't open it soon, I'll come in!" Just as Yang Xiaoyou was dozing off again, she was awakened by Qi Menglu's knocking. This girl was always full of energy; she didn't know what she wanted this time.
Yawning and getting up from the sofa, Yang Xiaoyou opened the door to let Qi Menglu in and then flopped back onto the sofa to catch some more sleep. However, just as she lay down, she felt something was off.
Suddenly jumping up, she ran over to Qi Menglu, who was preparing to drink juice, and asked her, "What are you doing here? Are we going to your house for dinner?"
"Hmph! Can't I come if there's nothing going on? Last night Feng Lin finished most of her work; today I'm taking her shopping. We need another guy to help out," Qi Menglu pouted slightly in dissatisfaction.
"Uh... today..." Yang Xiaoyou hesitated. She wanted to join them but felt conflicted since Nobunaga Hideyoshi was technically her superior now. Leaving him behind to hang out with beautiful girls might leave a bad impression.
"I'm fine; I can just wander around myself. Since your classmates are looking for you, go ahead and enjoy yourself. Young people should cherish their current lives," Nobunaga Hideyoshi said as he walked out of the bathroom wearing his own pajamas.
On ordinary days, Nobunaga Hideyoshi's appearance alone could make most women feel inferior. He usually dressed in a more masculine style, but now, stepping out in loose pajamas with damp hair cascading over his shoulders, he exuded a different kind of charm that was almost disarming. It was impossible to discern his true nature from his current look.
When Qi Menglu saw a stunningly beautiful woman emerge from Yang Xiaoyou's bathroom, her hair also wet and clad in pajamas, she felt a surge of frustration.
"Who is she? Hmph! Taking advantage of Uncle and Auntie's absence to bring home such a messy woman. Wait, have I seen her somewhere before?" Grabbing Yang Xiaoyou's cheek, Qi Menglu glared at him, but soon realized that the beauty before her seemed vaguely familiar.
She racked her brain but couldn't recall where she had seen her, especially since Nobunaga Hideyoshi had been in military attire back then.
"Miss, stop overthinking. I'm just a friend of his, staying here temporarily because I have business to attend to. Also, I'm a man; we met in Kapa City," Nobunaga Hideyoshi said with an expression that was both amused and exasperated. He found it irritating when ordinary people questioned his gender, but he couldn't bring himself to blame the playful girl in front of him.
"Ah! I remember now! You're that handsome mercenary!" Qi Menglu exclaimed after Nobunaga Hideyoshi's reminder, smacking her palm as if enlightenment had struck her.
However, her face quickly paled as she turned to Yang Xiaoyou and stammered, "Y-you actually like men! If Auntie finds out, she'll kill you!"
Initially relieved that the misunderstanding was cleared up, Yang Xiaoyou felt a wave of frustration wash over him upon hearing Qi Menglu's words. He couldn't help but roll his eyes at the girl's bizarre thought process.
Meanwhile, Nobunaga Hideyoshi stood there looking somewhat dazed; the girl's reasoning seemed rather peculiar.
"What on earth are you thinking? I really want to pry open your head and see what's inside. He's just staying at my place!" Yang Xiaoyou said through gritted teeth as he clenched his fists and playfully nudged Qi Menglu's head from side to side.
"Ow, ow, ow! You're so mean!" Qi Menglu protested after being playfully assaulted by Yang Xiaoyou.
"I managed to escape thanks to his companions; otherwise, I'd be nothing but a pile of meat by now. He's here for business, and I merely offered him a place to stay," Yang Xiaoyou explained with a shrug.
Upon hearing this, Qi Menglu blushed slightly and bowed her head toward Nobunaga Hideyoshi before mumbling apologetically, "Thank you, I'm sorry."
Hearing her somewhat nonsensical words, Yang Xiaoyou was momentarily taken aback. Soon after, a hint of warmth flashed through Heart. Although she had instinctively brushed it off, her subconscious placing "thank you" at the forefront actually indicated that this girl was quite concerned about her safety; her previous affection for her was not in vain.
"Alright, alright, you all go have fun," Nobunaga Hideyoshi said, looking at Qi Menglu with a mix of amusement and exasperation. However, it was generally hard for anyone to get angry at Qi Menglu.
"Hehe, why don't you come along with us? Didn't you say you'd be wandering around?" Qi Menglu stuck out her tongue and said. She felt a bit embarrassed about the earlier misunderstanding, but she wasn't particularly good at apologizing, so she tried to make amends instead.
"Right? I’d feel bad leaving you all alone," Yang Xiaoyou agreed with the suggestion. After all, they were just going to have fun; having one more person wouldn’t hurt. Besides, Nobunaga Hideyoshi was quite unique among that group of mercenaries, so there was no need to worry about causing any trouble.
As they headed out towards Monsoon Shrine to pick up Feng Lin, Qi Menglu leaned in mysteriously and asked Yang Xiaoyou, "Do you know why there are so many police cars around?"
"You know?" Yang Xiaoyou rolled her eyes.
"Hmph! When my dad treated one of his students to dinner yesterday, I overheard something at the table. It seems like the Minister of National Defense has been assassinated," Qi Menglu said proudly, as if showing off her insider information.
Upon hearing this, both Yang Xiaoyou and Nobunaga Hideyoshi exchanged glances filled with concern. Although Qi Menglu mentioned the Minister of National Defense, it was clear she hadn’t heard correctly. If there were no mistakes, it should have been news about the Minister of National Defense and State Affairs.
Uh-oh, this must have been caused by my shot.
With that thought in mind, Yang Xiaoyou felt a sense of foreboding. She hadn’t intended to stir up such a commotion; how could that fellow come personally? It seemed this situation had escalated more than she had anticipated!
