Hearing the other person say that again, Yang Xiaoyou turned to glance at the fellow, then said with a hint of amusement, "I mean, the document won't just run into my files by itself. You didn't move it over, did you?"
He truly hadn't expected someone would take such actions. While academic plagiarism was quite common, it usually happened in the shadows and rarely came to light. After all, this was merely a youth-level innovation competition.
They were from the same school, so he never thought someone would stoop to such shameless behavior.
Upon hearing the instructor's opening remarks, it was clear that the other person was the student who had misappropriated the chip. The timing was just too coincidental.
With all these probabilities aligning, Yang Xiaoyou didn't need any evidence to conclude what the other person had done. It was similar to when Lin Min and Demoness had their doubts about him. However, personal conviction couldn't be used as evidence.
To be honest, what he had come up with this time was quite thoughtful; it was entirely based on his own ideas and aligned with his thought processes, utilizing a lot of his usual accumulation of knowledge.
Designing another equivalent topic in the same amount of time would be nearly impossible.
"Haha, I moved it in? Hey, you don't think the topic I'm currently using originally belonged to you, do you? Tsk tsk," Wang Cheng laughed mockingly upon seeing that the other person didn't get the hint.
"That's exactly what I mean," Yang Xiaoyou replied nonchalantly in response to Wang Cheng's sarcasm.
Wang Cheng had initially planned to wait for Yang Xiaoyou to become furious or make a desperate mistake before he pressed on further. However, he found himself hitting a wall as Yang Xiaoyou brushed off his taunts effortlessly.
Was this fellow so dense that he couldn't even recognize sarcasm?
"Yang Xiaoyou, academic issues are serious matters; some things shouldn't be said lightly," Wang Cheng said coldly after a snort.
The entire process had already been grasped, and even if the other party brought in the person who helped design the program, there was no fear of confrontation.
When they saw the two suddenly start arguing for no apparent reason, both Huang Wei and Zhu Qibiao along with Li Hong were somewhat surprised.
Once they understood what the two were discussing, Zhu Qibiao frowned and said, "Classmate Yang Xiaoyou, are you sure you know what you're talking about? Do you know what Wang Cheng's project is?"
"If it's based on my design, then it should be a thing with thirteen modules called Splice, nine core modules and four additional functional modules," Xiao You replied while stroking his chin.
"Hmph, you used my computer yesterday. It seems you copied my work in an attempt to steal my results. I trusted the school's security and was careless; I didn't expect to run into this situation," Wang Cheng said with a disdainful expression, clearly having prepared his retort in advance.
Hearing both sides present their arguments made Zhu Qibiao feel a bit stuck.
Meanwhile, Huang Wei and the others surprisingly chose to support Yang Xiaoyou. "This teacher really has great skills; we were all taught by him personally."
However, upon hearing this support, Yang Xiaoyou felt an overwhelming urge to give them a good beating. With their displayed level of understanding, claiming they were taught by him was more of a hindrance than help.
As expected, after verifying the basics of several people, Zhu Qibiao shot a slightly dissatisfied glance at Yang Xiaoyou, indicating he had formed his own judgment.
Before he could speak, Yang Xiaoyou interjected, "Alright then, how about we discuss the functions of this thing? I'm sure everyone knows the core modules. What about the additional modules? Hmm, I believe that in such a short time, the thief should only be able to understand the program but not add anything new."
In response to Yang Xiaoyou, Wang Cheng quickly chimed in, "One temperature sensor, one pressure sensor, one burning module, and one stability module. Overall, we aim to create a robot that autonomously responds to changes in temperature and force. The program has been fully confirmed; we just need the materials to start working on Splice."
"Well then, teacher, you should remember what materials I applied for. Did I use a computer back then?" After shifting the topic, Yang Xiaoyou immediately directed his question at Zhu Qibiao.
Upon hearing this, Zhu Qibiao's expression shifted slightly. Although many components could be interchangeable, a closer inspection would reveal whether both sides matched adequately.
After hearing this statement, Wang Cheng's face darkened. He hadn't expected that his fellow student had already secured the application for components so early; this was beyond his expectations. However, as long as he held firm and didn't relent, the other party would definitely have no way to deal with him.
There were many ways to leak the program, but this was the only one in front of him.
"Don't worry, there's no need to look so grim. I'll give you a chance. If you can create that so-called robot using these modules, then I'll admit that the program is yours. Remember, you must use the original program," Yang Xiaoyou said with a hint of a smile on his face. He had pushed the other party to this point and was now giving them an opportunity; he didn't believe they wouldn't seize it.
"It's mine to begin with. Why do I need your acknowledgment? I'm starting now, just wait and see," Wang Cheng replied immediately, as if afraid Yang Xiaoyou would change his mind.
"Good luck," Yang Xiaoyou said cheerfully as he waved his hand and took away all the materials prepared by Zhu Qibiao except for the chip. It seemed he was ready to get started, completely unconcerned about the missing chip.
Well, once that fellow fails, I can just take it and install it directly, skipping even the copying step.
As for why Yang Xiaoyou was so sure the other party would fail...
"To think it’s been turned into a multifunctional robot—what a joke." Shaking his head, Yang Xiaoyou went next door to the circuit board welding lab to begin his work.
Zhu Qibiao had given Yang Xiaoyou seven units of time, so during these seven units, he proceeded methodically with improvements on other aspects.
At the same time, seemingly to prove that he was indeed the rightful owner of the program, Wang Cheng immersed himself in the laboratory.
However, his expression changed from initial confidence to calmness, and then to a heavy gloom. He started by preparing the circuit board and copying the program but ended up constantly redesigning and rearranging things. To meet requirements, he even added several new modules to the program while arguing that he hadn't made changes—only additions.
Despite this, it wasn't until just before the list was finalized that Wang Cheng managed to splice together this strange contraption.
"Ahem, these four modules are mainly for testing the core module's functionality, so they don't have any practical use. They simply move automatically when they sense temperature changes," he said as he pulled out a vehicle made from various spliced circuit boards equipped with wheels. He then used a lighter to trigger its infrared sensor, causing the vehicle to move a few steps forward.
However, some functions of those four modules were not utilized at all. He had added several extra modules of his own just to barely achieve what was in front of him.
In any case, having completed the design, he couldn't help but glance smugly at Yang Xiaoyou over there. That fellow had too much faith in his own abilities.
"Not bad, your project. The core module is the most important part. You can keep adding whatever functions you want. If it's just simple design, it could be done without it; this is merely a test," Li Hong said, offering some reassurance. She genuinely admired the design.
However, beside her, Zhu Qibiao frowned and fell silent.
After hesitating for a moment, he turned to Yang Xiaoyou and asked, "What do you think?"
"What do you expect me to think? This thing has been turned into a multifunctional robot, and it was forced to add those four external modules just to meet their requirements. Can't you see that? Um, let me borrow the chip for a moment." After giving a disdainful glance, Yang Xiaoyou pulled out the ugly 'robot's' chip and connected it to a circuit board in front of him that had a large cup on it.
He poured some soybeans and tea into the cup, then shrugged and said, "Actually, I'm just making a Soy Milk Maker."
After that, he pressed the switch. The temperature was detected, heating began, and stirring commenced. Thanks to the monitoring of force and temperature, the soy milk turned out quite smooth.
Once the stirring was complete, Yang Xiaoyou poured himself a cup and took a sip. Looking at the three stunned fellows in front of him, he asked, "Soy milk? Want some?"
Designs ultimately need to serve a purpose; they can't just have random features for no reason. Compared to Wang Cheng's seemingly complex but utterly hollow 'robot,' Yang Xiaoyou's Soy Milk Maker—though amusing—was clearly more functional. Both Zhu Qibiao and Li Hong understood that the program was indeed created by this newcomer for his Soy Milk Maker. At least those four functional modules were designed for Luo Chi's purpose.
To be continued.
