Chapter 174: The Imperial Capital
"Hey, there are still security personnel accompanying us." Casually brushing off the apologetic fellow, Yang Xiaoyou noticed two familiar figures beside the leading teacher.
It was Lucas, the impulsive yet highly skilled close-combat fighter, and Fein, whose slightly curly hair indicated he was older than Yang Xiaoyou.
"That's right. The sentiments between our two countries are quite oppositional, so it's best to be prepared. Not just us; once we gather, there will definitely be some unified security arrangements. However, the number won't be too large, just in line with our current ratio," Zhu Qibiao explained with a smile.
Ever since he learned that the program was developed by Yang Xiaoyou, he had been exceptionally attentive to her needs, trying to accommodate her requests as much as possible.
Upon hearing this, Yang Xiaoyou didn't mind much. The school's security personnel were rotating shifts, and perhaps that was why these two had been kept until the end.
Meanwhile, the two fellows who clearly couldn't understand Chinese were chatting among themselves, completely oblivious to whether others were discussing them.
"Hey, you! Hurry up and get some food! Do you know how much trauma you caused Xiao You last time? Hmph! If you don't go, I'll make sure Xiao You's issue isn't resolved," Huang Wei said to Wang Cheng with a smug expression while sitting next to Yang Xiaoyou on the plane.
Huang Wei and his friends had long been annoyed by this fellow who initially looked down on them but now seemed a bit humbled. Taking advantage of this apology from Wang Cheng to Yang Xiaoyou, Huang Wei seized the opportunity to boss him around, always acting as if he were standing up for Yang Xiaoyou.
Yang Xiaoyou rolled her eyes at this. Spending too much time with these fellows would surely attract strange looks from others. Unfortunately, it was too late to distance herself from them now.
However, she wasn't fond of Wang Cheng either. Out of respect for her teacher, she couldn't pursue the matter further. Now that Huang Wei was using her name to confront him like this, she decided to turn a blind eye; after all, bad people have their own ways of dealing with each other.
"Delicious! This tastes so much better than what I would have gotten myself!" Huang Wei exclaimed while munching on a pastry, his expression exaggerated like a character from a comic strip. The other members of the FFF Group followed suit, treating Wang Cheng like a servant.
Zhu Qibiao, who was leading the group, had already coughed several times in an attempt to intervene but was ignored by this group with thicker skin than city walls. Since Wang Cheng had overstepped first, Zhu Qibiao felt it wasn't appropriate to directly stop them in front of Yang Xiaoyou. After being ignored again, he decided not to intervene any further and let them continue.
Perhaps he thought that letting Wang Cheng experience some humiliation would be beneficial for his growth.
At the same time, Wang Cheng, treated like a servant, wore an exceptionally grim expression. His inherent pride made this humiliation feel unbearable; he truly wished he could disappear. Yet in order to salvage his image, he couldn't resist too strongly and could only swallow his anger.
At that moment, he felt a deep sense of regret. If he had known it would turn out this way, he wouldn't have come here at his own expense. It seemed that this hellish existence would accompany him throughout his entire journey.
"If it weren't for that wretched Li Hong, I wouldn't have ended up like this." With this thought, Wang Cheng forcibly suppressed his anger. He had been so close to success, only to be knocked back to square one. He had to do everything he could to salvage the situation.
He truly didn't want to give up this opportunity; if he succeeded, he could rise above and trample all those who had once looked down on him.
"Has Fein fallen for someone? He shouldn't be into this type, right?" Watching Fein, who had been chatting with Lucas but then moved over to Li Hong's side to engage in a half-hearted conversation in English, Yang Xiaoyou felt a bit surprised.
However, he quickly noticed that Fein didn't seem to have any romantic intentions. His demeanor resembled that of a security personnel gathering information about an important individual.
Realizing this atmosphere, Yang Xiaoyou was slightly taken aback; he hadn't expected that the girl dressed somewhat plainly might hold some significance.
These actions were all subconscious behaviors of Fein. Ordinary people would find it hard to grasp their meaning, but Yang Xiaoyou understood perfectly well.
Moreover, if both of them were intentionally lingering around for the sake of this girl, it would make things even more interesting.
Regarding Hive Security Company, Yang Xiaoyou only grasped the overall situation. When it came to details, Nobunaga Hideyoshi was far more adept. Just as the other party trusted him, Yang Xiaoyou largely believed in Nobunaga Hideyoshi's abilities and methods, confident that he wouldn't act without reason.
"Professor Zhu, welcome to Beijing! Hehe, are these the students participating in the competition? Your school certainly has a wealth of talent." Upon arriving at the airport in the capital city, among the many welcoming banners was a prominent one that read 'Welcome Yuying Middle School Representatives.'
A young Suit Man approached Zhu Qibiao with a smile.
"Not at all; a few are just here to broaden their horizons. But your school seems to be thriving and is on track to catch up," Zhu Qibiao replied calmly after shaking hands with him.
Although both sides appeared friendly in tone, Yang Xiaoyou, sensitive to the atmosphere, detected a subtle hostility between them.
Perhaps it wasn't outright hostility, but there was definitely a sense of competition.
Clearly, those who came to greet them couldn't be outsiders like those from the Royal Academy of Basic Studies; they were likely representatives from local institutions in the capital.
Recently, there had been a surge in development from Huaxia University Affiliated High School, which seemed eager to join the ranks of the top two schools.
Unlike the two schools that could directly send seed teams, their school was represented by a delegation that had emerged from national competition.
However, Yuying's current status is not something that can be easily shaken by anyone. Many schools are envious, but only a few dare to challenge it. Both Yuying Middle School and the Royal Academy of Basic Studies welcome this kind of competition and challenge that can stimulate the school's motivation.
Without such pursuers, complacency will only lead to a rapid decline.
"Li Hong, it's nice to see you again. Last year, you made it into the top five with your first-year design. This year, I suppose your goal should be to aim for the top spot," a young teacher greeted Li Hong after some casual conversation.
Having speculated about Fein's actions on the plane, Yang Xiaoyou now realized that Fein's greeting was not solely due to Li Hong's abilities.
Upon arriving at the designated reception hotel, Yang Xiaoyou noticed that her group was among the last to arrive. Even the people from the Royal Academy of Basic Studies were already there. Aside from one familiar figure, everyone else was a stranger.
The familiar figure wore glasses and had acne, appearing somewhat timid. Yang Xiaoyou recognized him as the boy who had stood in front of Qi Menglu when she went to rescue her.
Although she instinctively felt displeased with this fellow who was close to Qi Menglu and looked somewhat sleazy, she had to admit that he had shown courage by stepping up for Qi Menglu last time. This somewhat mitigated her annoyance.
However, despite this mitigation, Yang Xiaoyou was absolutely opposed to his apparent intentions of pursuing Qi Menglu. As for why she felt this way, she couldn't quite articulate it herself. Perhaps it was because he was too ugly or too weak; if he couldn't defeat her, he had no right to pursue Qi Menglu.
Well, having found a suitable excuse, Yang Xiaoyou laughed lightly. Feng Lin could defeat her, so he could pursue her; as for others, they could just get lost.
Today is Grandpa's birthday, and I have to go out for dinner. I stayed up until after two last night just to finish everything. What a hassle!
