"Hey, you stole my snacks." Yang Xiaoyou shot her a glare, her annoyance evident. From the pocket of her jacket, a small creature peeked out, its round, dark eyes staring at the familiar fellow in front of them, seemingly greeting it.
This little creature had an unexpectedly strong vitality. Usually, when Yang Xiaoyou went out, she would take it with her to prevent it from starving to death without anyone to feed it.
If she left it with Qi Menglu, it would likely be taken over. As for Feng Lin, well, she already had a cat to care for.
"Oh, I remember now! You're that glutton from the plane, Xiao You Yang," Fia said with a mischievous glint in her eyes, emphasizing the word "glutton."
Although this might seem impolite, Fia's playful demeanor made it more charming than offensive; it was part of her inherent charisma.
Normally, when they encountered a beauty of this caliber, Huang Wei and his friends would have been howling by now. However, the trouble they had caused earlier still held them in check, making them surprisingly quiet. Yang Xiaoyou noted their silence with a sense of relief.
But when she casually glanced back at the group behind her, she could feel the flames of their gazes burning into her—an unmistakable expression that clearly conveyed their intent to "burn him."
"Hehe, are they your friends? Quite interesting! I didn't realize you were so skilled at gambling; I noticed just now," Fia said cheerfully after taking a couple of steps and spinning around.
"Really? I'm part of this Electronic Innovation Competition. I have strong hands-on skills and am good at finding patterns. A bit of luck helps too," Yang Xiaoyou replied. Drawing from Liang Wuxuan's earlier insights about herself, she didn't outright deny luck but instead presented a mix of truth and embellishment.
She aimed to showcase a hint of talent without drawing too much attention.
While chatting casually with Fia, Yang Xiaoyou sensed that Fia's focus wasn't entirely on her. Behind them, Weimar appeared relaxed but had tense muscles as if ready to explode at any moment.
Noticing this state, Yang Xiaoyou felt a slight shift in her expression; their conspicuous presence in such an environment clearly had its reasons.
Just as they exchanged a few more trivial words and Yang Xiaoyou prepared to excuse herself and distance herself from potential trouble, a sudden loud "bang" echoed from the corners of the entertainment venue. Instantly, thick white smoke billowed up from all four corners.
The unexpected turn of events stunned the patrons inside Entertainment City for a moment. Then someone shouted "Fire!" and chaos erupted—screams and panicked voices filled the air. Some took advantage of the situation to grab chips and hurriedly slipped out.
But at that moment, Yang Xiaoyou's pupils constricted; this white smoke was not the kind produced by fire.
Just as that thought flashed through her mind, numerous bottles and jars rolled toward the center from the corners before bursting one after another. The dense white smoke rapidly spread throughout the interior.
“Damn it, why did it have to be the Revenants? Of all times to provoke them, it had to be now. And in this location, no less,” Yang Xiaoyou lamented, feeling a wave of despair wash over him.
The most concerning part was that Fia's interests were now tied to ensuring her survival. As Yang Xiaoyou's mind raced with these thoughts, he turned to look at Fia, only to see her putting on a gas mask, her expression comically prepared as if she had been ready for this all along.
Meanwhile, Weimar had already donned her gas mask and was holding her specially equipped weapon, positioning herself protectively beside Fia.
Although there was only one guard visible here, since Fia had intentionally lured the enemy out, it was certain that she had more plans in place.
After taking a moment to assess the surroundings and closing his eyes to sense the atmosphere, Yang Xiaoyou made a rough judgment and prepared to lead Huang Wei and the others away.
Unfortunately, just as he reached out to grab Huang Wei, he realized that their original position was now completely empty; several fellows had vanished without a trace.
After a brief moment of chaos, most of the tourists who hadn’t escaped Entertainment City were now unconscious from the gas.
The scene shifted from one of intense activity to eerie silence. The only sounds were the soft whirring of slot machines and the distinct click-clack of high heels echoing through the air.
In the thick white smoke where visibility was nearly zero, these sounds felt particularly ominous.
Slowing his breathing and filtering the air around him, Yang Xiaoyou quietly crouched beneath a gambling table, making no sound as he observed his surroundings.
He had not misjudged; Fia had indeed come to Japan with the intention of drawing out the Revenants. This time, far from her traditional sphere of influence, the Revenants would likely go all out.
“High heels? Is that Charming Shadow? Tsk tsk, I wonder if there are any fellows of equal rank,” Yang Xiaoyou thought coldly as he listened to the footsteps approaching.
He didn’t mind someone causing trouble for Fia; however, her life was paramount. In this low visibility situation, combined with his own stealth abilities and influence, Yang Xiaoyou was confident that no one would detect him.
Whether or not he needed to intervene would depend entirely on how things unfolded.
Even if he did decide to act, he must ensure that his identity remained concealed—ideally, both sides should remain unaware of a third party's presence.
“Big sister, is that you again?” After some time in silence, Fia’s muffled voice came from one direction as she spoke through her gas mask.
From her tone, it seemed she had already crossed paths with Ming Mei Shuang Ying.
"Hehe, sister, don't hide anymore. I'm here to take care of you." The charming voice that could make one's bones feel weak echoed through the air.
However, just as the words fell, the seemingly harmonious conversation was abruptly interrupted by a series of gunshots from all directions.
The targets were the sources of the two voices, as well as the mutual attacks among the gunmen. Their words triggered a chain reaction: sounds were exposed, shots were fired, shooters revealed their positions, and outsiders opened fire. This cycle plunged the scene into chaos.
In this pitch-black environment with extremely low visibility, each shooter had a remarkably precise grasp of their surroundings.
After a considerable exchange of fire, the scene suddenly came to an eerie halt, as if both sides had reached an unspoken understanding.
"Oh? So sister was deliberately luring us out? Quite well-prepared, I see. But switching roles between prey and hunter isn't that simple," the unique magnetic voice of Charming Shadow resonated again. This time, however, Fia did not respond.
Crouched beneath the gambling table, Yang Xiaoyou had just dodged a stray bullet and now wore a hint of amusement in her eyes. It was still Charming Shadow who appeared to be in control, while Shadow of Death remained completely hidden.
Aside from Weimar, no one else on Fia's side had shown themselves. The arrangements on both sides were intriguing.
