"Withered vegetables and rotten beef, damn it! Is there nothing edible here?" Lucas complained as he rummaged through the empty two-story wooden cabin. 0

Food and fresh water were essential, no matter which step they took. Although he had some emergency supplies like compressed biscuits and nutritional capsules, those were only for desperate situations. He needed to find other sources of sustenance whenever possible. 0

However, the cabin that Yang Xiaoyou had brought him into seemed as if it hadn't been inhabited for years. No matter how thoroughly he searched, he found nothing useful among the supplies. 0

"The difficulty of finding food in a deserted place exceeds my capabilities. Now, let's check on our 'Doctor.' Fortunately, although the wound on his leg is inflamed, it doesn't seem to show any signs of viral infection." After laying the 'Doctor' flat on the floor and examining him, Yang Xiaoyou pondered for a moment. 0

This frontline agent from the United Arab Emirates was indeed physically exceptional, much stronger than his partner. The fact that he managed to escape alone confirmed this. 0

Yet, this high-level agent, who should have had a strong will, was clearly showing signs of mental breakdown. The infected bloodthirsty farmers were beyond ordinary comprehension; even Lucas and his team were encountering them for the first time. There must have been something else that had happened to this agent. 0

"Water, water," Lucas said with measured urgency. He checked the agent's wound, cutting away the inflamed and festering flesh. After using the precious remaining mineral water to clean it up a bit, it wasn't long before the agent known as 'Doctor' slowly regained consciousness. 0

His awakening was quite traditional; however, Yang Xiaoyou was serious as she said, "It's gone; your portion for cleaning the wound has been used up." 0

This indifferent tone jolted the 'Doctor' awake despite his still-dizzy head. As he recalled his situation, he felt another wave of despair rising within him. 0

Fortunately, Lucas threatenedly shook his fist to help calm the 'Doctor,' whose head was still throbbing. 0

"Where are we now? We aren't still in that damned town, are we? Those fellows aren't even human! They could survive with their heads blown off and even become stronger! Their screams are enough to make anyone nauseous; I never want to see them again!" It seemed that he had regained some energy or perhaps was venting his inner fears. This time upon waking up, the 'Doctor' didn't wait for anyone to ask questions; he laid everything out clearly. 0

It turned out that after Yang Xiaoyou and her team left yesterday, the two of them had planned to use the remaining time to ask local townsfolk some questions. However, these agricultural townspeople were quite hostile towards outsiders. 0

At that time, the two of them complained for quite a while. If they had known what would happen later, they might have even thanked those farmers for their 'friendly' attitude. 0

Initially, they were simply unwelcome and rejected everywhere. But when they found themselves in a more remote area of Passing By, a man who claimed to be from Interpol, a Frenchman, stealthily stopped them and warned them to leave quickly. 0

Once back on the street, they understood the meaning of that seemingly casual warning. It was as if all the townsfolk had gone mad, attacking and chasing them with everything they could find. 0

What was most terrifying was that those townspeople, who appeared to be just strong from working on the farm, exhibited an insane level of strength. A rusty pitchfork was thrown with such force that it pierced through solid wooden walls and lodged itself there. 0

The power behind their swings could easily break through fences as thick as a fist, and when they collided with the 'assistant,' it could shatter several of his ribs. 0

Moreover, their vitality was astonishing. Even after bullets had penetrated their skulls, they continued to advance. The most grotesque sight was when several people had their heads blown off, and one individual’s head exploded entirely, with repulsive tentacles emerging from the neck, increasing the threat instead. 0

Later, when he tried to escape, his thoughts were muddled; only the assistant had died. Under cover from him, he barely managed to flee after being struck by a large man wielding a chain-linked animal trap. 0

That imposing figure, which instilled a sense of dread in him at first glance, seemed to have merely brushed him aside. The main target appeared to be someone else; otherwise, he would not have escaped so easily. 0

"Now do you understand what kind of monsters we are facing?! They will all die! They will!" 0

The memory seemed to awaken his inner fear again, causing the 'Doctor's' emotions to become unstable once more. 0

Before Afeifa could step forward to offer comfort, Lucas landed a punch in his abdomen that made him double over as if he were about to vomit. However, the force was controlled just right; he wasn't knocked out but rather seemed to be trying to help him 'snap out of it.' 0

There was no thought of treating him like a patient at all. 0

Hearing the other person's words, Yang Xiaoyou couldn't help but sigh. The variations of the subsequent viruses in his memory were numerous, but at that time, his main focus had been on survival. Unless absolutely necessary, he had not actively participated in all the Virus Incidents, so he was not well-informed about some of the extended virus types. 0

It was evident that the special Sample obtained back in Tokyo had some specific connection to the changes before him. Both involved humans being infected while alive; however, in terms of capability, they were far inferior to the Licker and others, yet still significantly stronger than ordinary Corpses. 0

Especially considering that if it were a Corpse, under the current high temperatures and blazing sun, its active state would likely diminish from a normal week to just three or four days. Even in a state of suspended animation, it could last at most half a month. The living Infected Entity before him, however, seemed unconcerned about such Aspects. 0

Even if its lifespan might plummet, it wouldn't be easy to delay that fate. Fortunately, under these circumstances, it seemed that the viral capabilities they carried when attacking should not surpass those of a Corpse, which alleviated some concerns. 0

"The Sample collected by the company in Tokyo was similar to an infection modeled after a parasite. Although the current situation differs somewhat from back then, based on descriptions, the infection route is likely quite similar. It can continue to move and attack even after being hit in the head. If nothing unexpected occurs, this type of parasite needs to reside in the Spinal Cord's central nervous system to control the Human Body's movements. If it can extend from a severed neck and manipulate arm movements, it should be located around the chest area." Based on known analyses and previously gathered conditions, Yang Xiaoyou broke down the current problem and then shared his insights with everyone without reservation. 0

In this situation, killing those strange Infected Entities was not impossible; however, directly attacking the chest would not only cover a larger area but also risk tentacles directly invading the brain. Therefore, to ensure a 100% kill rate, it was best to attack both the head and chest simultaneously. Additionally, once they actively exposed their heads, attacking should be able to hit their core directly. 0

Undoubtedly, even if they could kill them this way, it would require much more effort compared to dealing with Corpses. The chest, head, and related mobility points like legs and spine were optimal attack targets. 0

"Moreover, he just mentioned Interpol. Along with those Mossad people, it indicates that we are not alone in this fight; others will help share the attention. Given this obviously mutated virus..." After laying out the issues, Yang Xiaoyou glanced at the somewhat astonished crowd before him. 0

"Are you sure this will kill them?" Lucas asked with a hint of skepticism. Just from that useless doctor's description alone, they had pinpointed weaknesses. Although it sounded reasonable enough, he still felt something was off. 0

"Only one way to find out." Upon hearing this remark, a glint of wickedness flashed in Yang Xiaoyou's eyes as he swiftly drew a dagger and plunged it into the 'doctor's' chest. Blood splattered onto his face—red mixed with a sickly yellow hue. 0
