A Crimson Figure stomped heavily on a car parked by the roadside, crushing it completely and producing a tremendous noise that attracted the attention of a nearby group of Corpse.
However, sensing only the dense aura of the virus, they merely turned their heads and continued moving in the direction they had initially been drawn to.
The onlookers, who had witnessed this change from the shadows, felt their hearts leap into their throats. Indeed, the characteristics of the Corpse and Advanced Infected were exactly as Yang Xiaoyou had described.
As long as the fast-moving Advanced Infected did not come under attack and did not realize that the source of the disturbance was 'food,' their special virus, similar to saliva secretion known as Host of the Queen Bee, would not be released. Similarly, due to the peculiar interaction between viruses, if the secretion of Host of the Queen Bee did not occur, lower-level Corpse would not gather due to the sounds made by their kind. This was an instinct developed by low-level Corpse to enhance their hunting efficiency without being disturbed by their own kind.
Four figures either jumped from vehicles on the street or climbed up the walls beside houses, all subtly aimed at the shadowy spot where Yang Xiaoyou was hiding.
Whether it was Low-Level Corpses or Advanced Infected, once they engaged in combat or detected 'food,' their aura of Host of the Queen Bee, which could be assimilated by their kind, would change. At that moment, if any noise were made, it would inevitably trigger a primal response from the Horde.
Thus, in this dire situation resembling a tattered rag, Yang Xiaoyou had to ensure that at the instant an Advanced Infected revealed itself and when the Host of the Queen Bee changed, he would kill them all before any sound of battle could arise!
If even one slipped through and made a noise similar to stepping on a car while approaching, those already in hunting mode would undoubtedly attract other instinct-driven Corpse.
In the shadows, holding an Assault Rifle steady and aiming towards Yang Xiaoyou, Qian Kai was ready to provide support at any moment. Sweat began to bead on his palms as he felt immense pressure to hit his target.
Just as those few Advanced Infected were about to draw near, a look of disbelief crossed Qian Kai's face—he looked as if he had seen a ghost!
His reaction seemed to catch the attention of others around him. Originally worried about the approaching Advanced Infected, everyone shifted their gaze toward what had been a perfectly normal-looking Yang Xiaoyou, revealing expressions of shock.
As soon as Huang Yue opened her mouth to speak, she was silenced by a hand over her mouth from beside her—Zhang Liang. His face also bore an expression filled with astonishment.
At that moment, standing quietly behind cover, although it was clear that Yang Xiaoyou's legs had not yet returned to normal and his face looked close to death, several blades were gradually levitating behind him, continuously splitting apart.
Most astonishingly, those blades floated in mid-air without any visible means of support!
It seemed that an invisible force was manipulating them!
Thirty-two thin blades, almost translucent, floated rhythmically behind Yang Xiaoyou on the mountainside, creating a dreamlike sense of rhythm.
As the first Advanced Infected revealed itself, Yang Xiaoyou, who stood silently with his eyes closed, opened them at that very moment.
The blades that appeared to be floating sluggishly behind him suddenly froze, with eight of them aiming their tips directly at the target, completely sealing off any escape routes for the enemy!
A faint yet chilling sound of slicing through the air echoed as the Advanced Infected, which had just noticed Yang Xiaoyou and was about to spit out its 'saliva,' was ruthlessly sliced by several silver streaks of light!
There was no time or space given for evasion; seven blades struck its body, causing sprays of blood to erupt as they tore through its defenses, fully exposing its head. The last blade showed no hesitation and pierced straight through its skull.
Without a sound, the dismembered pieces of the Advanced Infected began to drop to the ground.
At that moment, the other three Advanced Infected, who had been nearly within arm's reach, finally appeared in Yang Xiaoyou's line of sight.
Meanwhile, the remaining twenty-four blades adjusted their positions in batches, dividing into three groups to lock onto the last three targets.
Standing in the center of a beautiful crimson pattern surrounded by chunks of flesh, Yang Xiaoyou elicited a sense of shock from those around him!
What was that? Magic? Superpowers? Spells? A trick?
Even Qian Kai, who was on the verge of breaking through to a new level of understanding, felt his knowledge being overturned. He had been taught that there were no monsters or deities in this world; once one reached a certain level, they could see their true nature.
But before him...
"Damn it! Why are you all just standing there? Move!" Yang Xiaoyou called out as he limped over quickly. His pitiful movement shattered the dreamlike and mythical aura surrounding his lethal skills completely.
The image of an extraordinary master collapsed in an instant.
After eliminating the four obstacles, the foolish creature could only follow its instincts, completely under the control of Yang Xiaoyou and her Horde. It no longer posed a significant threat. With precise lures, they successfully separated the Horde, and after forcefully taking down about ten of them, they reached the city exit.
Upon seeing the aimless Corpse that was still unaware of its 'companion's' death, along with the continuous low growls from deeper within the city, a sense of lingering fear and survival washed over everyone’s hearts.
Several crises, especially the last one, had made them acutely aware of the difficulties they faced. Now, looking at the flames rising and the shadows flickering densely along the streets, they understood that if they didn’t find a way out and took a detour, their fate would be quite dire.
They glanced at the seemingly on the verge of collapse young man, his eyes filled with complexity.
The strange methods employed in their escape were unspoken among them, yet they all understood that even if they told others, no one would believe it.
Indeed, who would believe such phenomena without witnessing them firsthand?
"Well, the good news is we made it out. But the bad news is obvious: our Assault Rifle ammunition is nearly depleted, and the jade pendant has shattered. If we want to hunt in the great Snowfield, we only have the hunting rifle brought by our two hunter friends. We also have our close-combat Hunt to rely on. Let’s head to Hunter's Lodge to gather our supplies. If conditions are right, we can rest there for a night and set off early tomorrow." Looking at the shocked and exhausted group, Yang Xiaoyou felt a slight relief wash over her. Soon after, fatigue and hunger began to creep in.
The mental exhaustion had taken a toll on their physical strength as well; it seemed they would need to use some of their food from that side.
Hopefully, luck would be on their side and they could find traces of prey along the way.
As they left the city area and began walking deeper into Greenland, the drop in temperature became quite evident. The temporary snow cover grew thicker, making their trek far more exhausting than their earlier adventure under sunlight.
Yet thinking of the threats behind them, even Huang Yue, who had the weakest constitution, gritted her teeth and pressed on without uttering a word. Finally, under the guidance of the two hunters, they arrived at a wooden cabin nearly buried beneath snow.
"This is our shared hunting lodge. We use it for convenience when hunting. Whoever uses up food needs to replenish it themselves. There are about four or five more like this one owned by others. If... if they don’t make it out, we might consider taking some supplies from there." Leading everyone inside, one of the hunters quickly lit a fire with some firewood and added a blackened iron pot before stuffing some snow inside.
Having witnessed life-and-death situations along their journey, both hunters sincerely doubted anyone else could have escaped. In their line of work, encountering risks was common; there were unspoken rules within their community where each group had its own territory—familiar yet non-intrusive.
However, having gone through such an experience made them see beyond life and death; they no longer felt bound by those unspoken rules and began considering taking food from others’ cabins.
Hearing what the two hunters said brought a slight relief to Yang Xiaoyou. In truth, hunting in the icy plains was challenging due to scarce prey; it was normal not to find targets. But in this Cold Air environment, if food ran low...
"By the way, you must be Danish," she said lightly as she noticed the melting snowwater in the pot and turned to address the exhausted Male Tour Guide who was still trying to comfort his companions.
Hearing that the boy who could use "magic" was actively asking about himself, the man's expression showed a hint of anxiety, but he still nodded. "However, my father has settled in Iceland for this generation."
"It's okay. When we cross the ice fields, our destination will be the Early Warning Radar Base in the Kingdom of Denmark. At that time, your identity will be Fordland Holger Waldemar Christian, and your father will be Joaquim Holger Waldemar Christian. You settled in Iceland because of your mother," Yang Xiaoyou patiently established an identity for him while also informing him of some details and the behavior expected of him.
At the same time, he arranged identities for himself and the Demoness as Hong Kongers, and amusingly enough, their relationship was set as distant relatives of the Danish tour guide.
This left everyone quite confused.
"Alright, I can't explain everything to you right now. It's best if you carry that confusion with you, as if your elders didn't tell you about our relationship. I'll find a way to handle it when the time comes." Facing their puzzled expressions, Yang Xiaoyou didn't delve into the reasons but continued to inform them of some necessary behaviors, which weren't too difficult.
In fact, aside from adding a hidden name for the father and his own non-public name, he simply needed the tour guide to honestly share his experiences when the time came.
"If you want to leave the island quickly, remember my words: although there may be some troubles after leaving, clearly those troubles won't be more terrifying than staying on this island." He stuffed them with knowledge like a duck being force-fed, yet Yang Xiaoyou wasn't overly worried about being exposed quickly.
After all, aside from one identity, most of the time he just needed everyone to act naturally.
However, at that moment, the wooden door of the Hunter's Lodge was kicked open. A few sturdy men, their faces weathered and shoulders covered in snowflakes, frowned upon seeing everyone inside.
