Amidst the rising and falling sounds of explosions, the air was filled with the hoarse cries of people gripped by despair and fear. They watched helplessly as the refuge they had painstakingly found transformed into a Fire Sea, their hard-earned supplies scattered and diminished by the shockwaves of the blasts. Those who had fled to this place, hoping for a stable life, now saw their dreams shattered in an instant, returning to the chaos of their past. Yet, they were unwilling to surrender; even the Zombies had retreated, so why should they give up on survival in this haven? No one was willing to concede defeat. Suffering clung to them like a parasite, impossible to shake off, but it also made these unfortunate souls cherish life even more. They fought to live, believing that eventually, everything would become beautiful.
Lin Yi closed his eyes, unable to bear the sight before him. The roars of anger from those whose homes had been destroyed pierced his heart. He felt as if he had entered a hell filled with Zombies, surrounded by demons and death, with only the fight for survival ahead of him.
Members of the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps heard the explosions and quickly grabbed their weapons, stepping out with calm expressions. Having endured countless bloody battles, they were far more composed than ordinary people at this moment; they understood that negative emotions could be fatal in the struggle for survival.
In that instant, Lin Yi's mind flooded with information. He "saw" a dirty Black girl squatting on the ground, crying uncontrollably while those around her fled without a glance in her direction. He "saw" a woman breaking free from others' grasp and plunging into the Fire Sea, and he also saw a man within that Fire Sea who was barely clinging to life. At the edge of this residential area, Lin Yi "saw" a vehicle with three rows of seats occupied by five people who were watching the Fire Sea with strange expressions. From these five individuals, he sensed a stench of death—a repulsive odor.
With a rush of movement, Lin Yi dashed toward that vehicle without even greeting anyone. Pachy watched Lin Yi's bizarre form with his mouth agape enough to fit an apple. While others might still be confused, he knew that Lin Yi had not taken any Potential Gene Drug at that moment. How could an ordinary person achieve such an abnormal speed? The only explanation was what Lin Yi's attending physician had previously said: he was no longer human.
Lin Yi did not dwell on these thoughts; even after his initial excitement about suddenly having superpowers faded quickly into calmness. Yet this was ultimately a miracle that granted him greater chances of survival in this chaotic world.
The vehicle was about three kilometers away from Lin Yi, which would typically take an ordinary person over ten minutes to cover. However, Lin Yi reached it in less than ten seconds. Those along the way only felt a gust of wind pass by before seeing nothing else.
"This mission has turned out poorly; I don't know how we'll explain it back!" A long sigh came from inside the vehicle as the others fell silent. They had been sent by their leader for revenge but had yet to find their target and could only randomly plant bombs in several suspicious locations.
They were cold-blooded killers who wouldn't care about the lives of fleeing outsiders. Thus, despite causing significant casualties due to their momentary "carelessness," they remained indifferent. They understood that many would die in this chaotic world—who could possibly care for anyone else?
"Then you won't be going back!" A voice as cold as an ancient glacier suddenly came from outside the car window.
"Who is it?" Everyone inside the vehicle instantly grabbed their weapons; one person even held a Laser Gun, which was particularly rare even in these tumultuous times.
"The one sending you to hell!"
Before that statement could finish echoing, those inside the vehicle suddenly felt a violent jolt as if the entire compartment shook violently, throwing them into disarray.
Lin Yi listened to the terrified screams from within the vehicle and felt a surge of satisfaction. Then he stood firmly on the ground with his legs spread apart like a horse stance; his arm muscles bulged rapidly, resembling hills ready for battle.
"Drink!" With a low roar, Lin Yi exerted his strength and hurled the car, along with its occupants, straight into the Fire Sea. The massive figure that seemed to weigh over three tons in the eyes of others was thrown as if it were weightless, landing in the flames.
Before the people inside the car could plead for mercy, they felt as if they were tossed like a child's ball into the Fire Sea. The fierce flames instantly ignited the leather seats and the clothes of the executioners, and their piercing screams echoed in the air. But the angry tongues of fire quickly found new entry points, diving into their mouths. The raging flames enveloped these sinners, and even fire could not cleanse them of their sins.
Everything happened too quickly; those who had once treated others' lives as mere weeds were now on the brink of death. Perhaps it was only at that moment, facing death, that they truly understood its terror.
Lin Yi was not a good person in the truest sense; what he did now was not solely for revenge on those affected. He also hoped that these people would no longer entangle themselves with him in the future.
The piercing sirens of the fire department rang out at that moment. A slight smile appeared on Lin Yi's lips as he vanished into the shadows like a ghost after a few swift movements. When he reappeared, he was back in his dormitory. At this moment, other members of the Mercenary group were busy extinguishing fires and rescuing people. Although the flames were large, they were relatively unaffected since they lived closer to the residential area.
"Lin Yi, what’s going on with you?" Pachy asked as he approached Lin Yi, who had returned without him noticing. He sensed an invisible aura of killing intent emanating from Lin Yi.
"It’s been like this since I woke up; you should have noticed by now," Lin Yi explained casually, aware of what Pachy was asking.
Pachy merely nodded and left. He didn’t want to pry further, but given the chaotic situation, it was at least a good thing that such circumstances had arisen.
Following the firefighters were two police officers responsible for maintaining order in this area. However, they seemed to be newcomers who knew nothing about handling such situations; they only asked about what had happened upon seeing people outside. Lin Yi couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly—thousands lived in this area, and after such a massive explosion, only two police officers showed up. It seemed no one took this place seriously.
The ambulances arrived last and were delayed. At this point, Aik had already bandaged many people with help from Ika and Jiao Jiao, nearly exhausting the Mercenary group's supplies. Once the ambulances arrived, they dutifully loaded some seriously injured individuals and drove off. Meanwhile, those affected by this inexplicable disaster showcased humanity's kindness; anyone capable helped search for missing persons or treat the injured. In one place existed two starkly different natures of humanity.
Suddenly, amidst the flickering flames, a young Blonde Woman approached with a fiery red rose in hand, swaying her graceful waist while looking at Lin Yi with an alluring smile.
Lin Yi was an ordinary man; seeing such beauty made his heart skip a beat. However, the atmosphere around them felt strange—as if hell and paradise overlapped at that moment. On one side were flames representing death; on the other was vibrant spring life.
The Blonde Woman said nothing as she gazed at Lin Yi and stepped closer. Lin Yi's legs stiffened slightly, but he ultimately did not retreat. Holding the rose close to her body, she slowly approached him. As she drew nearer, her ample bosom pressed against Lin Yi's chest while her crimson lips almost brushed against his neck. Despite believing himself to have strong self-control, facing such allure made it difficult for him to maintain composure.
The seductive Blonde Woman breathed softly; her breaths alternated between rapid and slow beside Lin Yi's ear, igniting a restless yearning within him. In that moment, Lin Yi seemed to be lost in this woman's tender embrace, unable to awaken from her enchantment.
"Mr. Lin," she spoke softly, her voice enchanting and captivating. "Does it smell good?"
Lin Yi nodded under the influence of his consciousness, but in an instant, a thought flashed through his mind. The two people who had been close together suddenly separated as Lin Yi stepped back.
"Giggle," the Blonde Woman covered her mouth and chuckled, adding a touch of allure to her demeanor.
"Glug~" Lin Yi pretended to be serious as he swallowed hard and said, "What do you want?"
"Why be so serious? I wouldn't harm you," the Blonde Woman replied, her waist twisting like a water snake. Her smooth, jade-like arms reached out, attempting to rest on Lin Yi's shoulder.
Just as her hand was about to land, Lin Yi moved almost imperceptibly, evading her "attack."
"Alright, I just wanted to give you this rose!" the Blonde Woman exclaimed with mock annoyance. A hint of blush appeared on her originally fair face, making her look even more charming.
"No reward without effort. Since this is our first meeting, I don't think we are familiar enough for you to give me flowers," Lin Yi forcibly suppressed the fluttering in his heart. He kept reminding himself that the most beautiful things in the world are often traps before one falls into them.
"Fine, I won't bicker with you anymore; I have things to do!" The Blonde Woman seemed genuinely upset and tossed the rose at Lin Yi's feet.
Caught off guard in a daze, Lin Yi failed to catch the rose. As he bent down to pick it up from the ground, he noticed that the Blonde Woman had already vanished from his sight. Strangely enough, when he picked up the rose, it transformed into a blank piece of paper with a line of nonsensical words written on it.
