There is nothing more terrifying than being conscious yet unable to move. In that moment, Lin Yi thought of many things, but despite his unwillingness and struggles, he found himself powerless under the pressure of absolute strength.
Carlo watched as Lin Yi's expression gradually twisted into a grimace, yet his body remained completely still, leaving him puzzled. However, being a clever individual, Carlo understood that regardless of what was happening to Lin Yi at that moment, it was clear he could no longer move.
With a sharp sound, Carlo unsheathed his razor-sharp claws without hesitation.
"Die!" Carlo roared as he lunged toward Lin Yi's chest, showing no mercy. But just as Carlo's claws were less than an inch away from Lin Yi's chest, he felt an invisible force halting him in his tracks. To his horror, he realized that his entire body was being firmly suppressed by an immense power, rendering him utterly immobile.
"Hahaha, we are all on the same side; why must we harm each other?" A loud and hearty laugh echoed from the seaside, growing closer. When Lin Yi turned to look, he saw two men in their thirties with short hair. They had the stature of Europeans but sported black hair like Asians. Dressed casually in black trench coats, they walked with an effortless grace.
In just a few blinks, Lin Yi felt as if the two men had instantly crossed the distance from afar; it seemed as though space had lost its constraints on them. There are always greater mountains and stronger individuals; Lin Yi finally understood the meaning of that saying.
In the next moment, an even stranger scene unfolded. Lin Yi and Carlo's bodies, which had been nearly touching, suddenly pulled apart by ten meters as the two Trench Coat Men approached.
"You..." Lin Yi barely managed to utter a word before realizing he could move again. Not far away, Carlo also stood up from his crouched position. Both men stared incredulously at the smiling Trench Coat Men before them, unsure of their intentions.
At this point, aside from the two newcomers, only Lin Yi, Douglas, Number 19, Taishan, Fire Dragon, Ying Sa, Carlo, and Benito remained on the ground. The others had already boarded helicopters during their earlier fight and were preparing to retreat when this unexpected turn of events occurred.
"Who are you..." Taishan appeared calm but his eyes revealed confusion; he too was uncertain about who these individuals were.
The newcomers didn’t even glance at Taishan; they casually scanned Lin Yi and Carlo before one of them said, "You are all Mercenaries; shouldn’t you set aside your grudges?"
Lin Yi recognized that these individuals were formidable. However, asking him to let go of someone who intended to kill him and raised Zombies was absolutely out of the question.
"Who do you think you are? These two keep Zombies; they are not worthy of being compared to us!" Fire Dragon’s temper flared. Having waited for an opportunity to strike without success, he exploded in anger.
A sharp crack echoed across the wilderness as Fire Dragon felt a stinging pain on his face; his head buzzed and spun as dizziness overtook him.
"Is that why you dare to talk to me like this? It seems your physical condition is not bad," a cold voice suddenly murmured from behind the Fire Dragon.
Suppressing a strong sense of discomfort, the Fire Dragon turned to look at the man who was talking to himself. In the next moment, intense flames erupted from his body!
"You dare to hit me!" The Fire Dragon swung his crimson fist directly at the man's handsome face. However, an eerie scene unfolded; the man actually vanished right before everyone's eyes. The Fire Dragon's punch missed its target, but he didn't lose momentum and instead struck the ground with a powerful blow, sending a wave of heat surging through the area.
In the next instant, an unbelievable sight occurred—the previously vanished man suddenly reappeared behind the Fire Dragon. Without hesitation, he delivered a kick to the Fire Dragon's back, causing him to lose his balance and crash face-first into the dirt.
Lin Yi watched everything unfold; the man's strength was terrifying, moving with a speed that seemed to transcend space itself. Even when Lin Yi unleashed all his mental power, he could barely keep up with the man's movements. Moreover, this person possessed formidable combat skills. But none of that was an excuse for bullying his brother; even if he couldn't win, he had to fight back!
With a shout, Lin Yi summoned every ounce of strength within him, his speed skyrocketing to a level almost impossible for the naked eye to catch. He was already close to the man, and in a flash, he found himself right behind him. Without thinking twice, Lin Yi threw a punch at the man's back.
A terrifying sound wave tore through the air as Lin Yi's fist moved. He knew that if he landed this punch, no matter how strong his opponent was, he would surely be injured. But in the next second, Lin Yi was stunned—his fist passed right through the man's back. No, it was just an illusion; Lin Yi quickly realized what had happened.
Lin Yi believed his speed had reached its peak; even if he couldn't injure his opponent, there was no way for him to disappear so easily!
Suddenly, Lin Yi felt a sharp pain in his back. He knew that since he had missed his attack, it was time for his opponent to retaliate. He didn't retreat because he had just expended all his energy on that last punch and wouldn't recover in such a short time.
"Anthony, the Alliance sent us here to mediate!" A sharp voice came from another Trench Coat Man, stopping Anthony's actions.
Lin Yi felt cold sweat soaking his back. Although he hadn't faced Anthony directly, he could tell that Anthony's strength was formidable. A man who combined speed, power, and Psychic Power—how monstrous could one person be?
"Excuse me everyone, Anthony was just joking," said the man who had intervened as he surveyed everyone. "Let me introduce myself; I am Graham, and this is Anthony. We are mission officers from the Mercenary Alliance headquarters' secretariat. It's nice to meet you all."
The man who called himself Graham not only had a handsome face but also appeared particularly polite and courteous. After introducing himself, he slightly bowed to everyone. However, Lin Yi snorted coldly; it was clear that they were here to assert dominance. Otherwise, why wouldn't they clarify things from the start instead of resorting to violence? At this moment, the Fire Dragon had gotten back on his feet; although he wanted revenge badly, Lin Yi held him back firmly. The situation was unclear; acting impulsively would only lead them into danger.
The others quickly gathered closer to Lin Yi; after all, they were still on the same side. As for Carlo, he could only stand at a distance and silently watch Douglas control Benito without saying a word.
As they watched the scenes unfolding below from the helicopter, Will felt his understanding of reality being shattered in a matter of moments. He questioned whether he was dreaming. The others, except for the members of the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps, were left with their mouths agape in astonishment. Although they wanted to rush down to help, some inexplicable reason held them back.
"I think they're raising Zombies; why aren't we going down?" Lin Yi asked. He was a somewhat stubborn person, and once he had made up his mind about something, it was hard for him to change it.
Graham seemed not to have heard Lin Yi's question and instead took a few steps forward to ask, "I wonder when Mr. Lin Yi will report to the Alliance?"
"Alliance?" Lin Yi had been too preoccupied since waking up to grasp many things.
"Then let Sister Ying introduce it to you!" Graham said with a smile, pointing at Ying Sa, who was standing with her chest puffed out and staring intently at him.
Lin Yi turned to look at Ying Sa, his eyes filled with questions. Ying Sa paused for a moment, her face inexplicably flushed, but she still spoke up: "Previously, the Mercenary organizations were not officially recognized by various countries. Later on, in order to survive under the oppression from different nations, we established the Mercenary Alliance. Anyone who formed their own Mercenary group automatically became a member of the Mercenary Alliance. Once you are part of the Mercenary Alliance, if you encounter oppression from national forces, you can rely on the Alliance's strength to survive. Therefore, the Mercenary Alliance often needs support from various Mercenary groups to assist those being oppressed. To facilitate this, the headquarters of the Mercenary Alliance used membership fees collected from various groups to establish a Special Forces unit that maintains daily operations. This is what we refer to as the Alliance headquarters, which is responsible for all Mercenary matters. Newly formed Mercenary groups need their Captain to handle related procedures personally. My Mercenary group has been established for over a year now; I have already reported in."
After Ying Sa finished explaining the basic situation, Lin Yi looked at Douglas and the others; they all nodded in agreement. Due to Lin Yi's prolonged unconsciousness, they had not had the opportunity to report to the Alliance.
"Now Mr. Lin Yi understands, right? Moreover, with the emergence of this Zombie Crisis, countries need civilian forces to help resist it, which has led to our alliance being recognized as legitimate. Thus, we have grown stronger during this crisis and can provide you with more support. Of course, since the headquarters has no other sources of income, it primarily relies on relief from your Mercenary groups; only then can we train more warriors to fight against evil forces!" Graham continued smilingly, leaving everyone with a refreshing feeling.
Lin Yi frowned; his mind felt a bit muddled just now, but he still asked, "What about those raising Zombies?"
Graham did not respond immediately; however, a sickly red hue appeared on his previously pale face, clearly indicating his displeasure at Lin Yi's insistence on this issue.
