In the heart of Sin City, there lies a verdant neighborhood reminiscent of a garden. It is now the transition from late summer to early Xia Chiu, and the song of cicadas has nearly faded away, yet this place still brims with vitality. Occasionally, one might catch a glimpse of unknown creatures darting through the thickets, vanishing without a trace like shadows. However, more often than not, it is the adorable children walking under the shade of trees, bursting with energy like the rising sun.
To the southeast of this neighborhood stands an ancient loft constructed of white walls and black tiles, connected by simple pathways made of blue stones. This loft is without walls, hidden within dense foliage, exuding an air of mystery as if it leads to a secluded path.
Yet, it is not truly mysterious; although few people come and go, no one pays it much attention. The locals have seen it many times before and have visited it often, so there is little interest in gazing at these buildings again. Everyone in Sin City knows that this is where the most powerful individuals on the planet reside.
Even so, this place remains ordinary because it is home to Long Yin Yue, the lord of Sin City. Long Yin Yue's ancestors were among the first pioneers of the Federation thousands of years ago; they ushered in the age of great exploration for the Federation. They also established a once-thriving independent regime. The Dragon Family was then the most prominent family, but after a century-long war, only the Dragon Family remained from that initial group of pioneers.
The Dragon Family understands why they have endured on this land for millennia; thus, they have always maintained a low profile and lived modestly. The current lord, Long Yin Yue, is particularly generous and unconventional, which has contributed to Sin City's prosperity.
At this moment, the highest-ranking individual on this planet stands before a massive wooden desk, freely expressing himself on a sheet of white paper. A gentle breeze occasionally stirs the paper, creating ripples across its surface. In front of the desk is a two-meter-wide wooden window that has been pushed open.
The Dragon City Lord has a tall figure with fair skin and no beard; time seems to have left few marks on his face. His prominent worm-like eyebrows are strikingly noticeable. His upright short hair gives off an impression of resilience; only when one notices the strands of gray at his temples does it remind them that the leader who has guided Sin City for decades is not as young as he once was.
Perhaps feeling tired, the Dragon City Lord suddenly lifts his head and gazes into the distance where a six-story school can be faintly seen, along with what seems to be sounds of students studying. A slight smile appears at the corner of Long Yin Yue's mouth as if he has witnessed something exceedingly delightful.
At that moment, Long Yin Yue furrows his uniquely shaped eyebrows and sets down his writing instrument. He slowly turns to look at the slightly ajar door across from him. Then he gently shakes his head and picks up a steaming cup of tea beside him, taking a small sip.
About a minute later, a long-haired woman with skin as smooth as jade and a waist like a willow enters. Perhaps she hurried in too quickly; her fair face bears a slight blush that looks just right. The prominent curve of her chest draws attention in an alluring manner.
The sound of her high heels clicking against the wooden floor creates a rhythmic beat. However, the Dragon City Lord seems to have anticipated her arrival; his expression remains unchanged except for a fleeting glimmer in his eyes.
"Mr. Long," she says as she steps inside, slightly bowing to express her apologies. Yet her alluring presence captivates attention even more than her words.
Long Yin Yue prefers not to be called "lord" but rather "Mr." He feels that if he were not the lord of this planet, he would likely be teaching classical studies at that nearby school.
Upon hearing the enchanting woman's words, Long Yin Yue furrows his brow again as an unusual expression crosses his face. As the ruler of this planet, encountering such bizarre occurrences is new to him.
"At that time, Captain Zhan Hao personally led the Silver Dragon Guard to intercept them. However, just as our Silver Dragon Guard fired missiles at that ship, it vanished without a trace like shadows. That was the last scene witnessed by those present. We gathered various resources for investigation—even Diviners came—but no one could provide us with a reasonable explanation!"
Seeing that Long Yin Yue remains silent, the enchanting woman hurriedly explains again. She knows that while this lord may act casually, he must understand such strange events thoroughly.
“Diviner, what is it?” Long Yin Yue's lips suddenly curled into a faint smile. Even in this era of competing voices, divination was hardly a respectable pursuit.
The Enchanting Woman felt a twinge of anxiety, regretting her decision to mention the divination. Her tall, snow-white figure trembled slightly, revealing her nervousness.
“She—it's the will of the gods. We shouldn't harm each other,” the Enchanting Woman forced herself to say. She always believed in seeing things through to the end; even if she couldn't uncover the reasons, there had to be a conclusion.
“Hahaha! The will of the gods! Perhaps she is right!” Long Yin Yue suddenly burst into laughter, his mirth ringing out freely, yet it carried an oppressive undertone.
The Enchanting Woman took a step back, unsettled by the seemingly deranged lord before her. She couldn't understand why this refined and cultured lord was acting this way.
“Sir, there’s one more thing…” Once Long Yin Yue finished laughing, the Enchanting Woman tucked her long fingers, as smooth as jade, behind her ear and straightened up to remind him.
“The Silver Dragon Guard's stolen ship has disappeared ten units away from Sin City… uh, I mean Silver Dragon Star. According to reports from the search team, that ship has been destroyed!” The Enchanting Woman seemed a bit anxious; although everyone referred to this planet as Sin City, its true name in the Federation was Silver Dragon Star, and the entire Silver Dragon Star was known as Silver Dragon City.
Many millennia ago, when humanity's ancestors first arrived at this planet, the vast expanse of clouds formed a rare sight that resembled a giant dragon from Federation mythology. In Federation culture, dragons were considered auspicious signs. After a thousand years of wandering, people finally found a habitable planet that appeared to be coiled around a massive dragon; thus, they collectively named it Silver Dragon Star.
To modern eyes, this name might seem somewhat arbitrary, too casual for anyone to explain its origins to future generations. People often forget that many things are quite simple; some just prefer to shroud them in mystery.
Long Yin Yue merely nodded in response. Losing a ship seemed like just another incident. Although ships were common means of transportation and could be found everywhere, this was a vessel belonging to the Silver Dragon Guard; thus, it should not be taken lightly.
“Since it has been destroyed, there's no need to pursue it further,” Long Yin Yue said as he picked up a teacup beside him and took a gentle sip, his gaze drifting slightly.
The Enchanting Woman was taken aback. She knew that while this lord was bold and generous, he would never suffer losses without reason. Although ordinary citizens might remain unaware of the Silver Dragon Guard's ship theft incident, influential figures would certainly know about it. At that point, this proud lord would face significant embarrassment. To dismiss it so casually now left the Enchanting Woman shocked.
“What’s wrong, Ye Han? Is there something else?” Long Yin Yue noticed the woman standing silently before him and understood her thoughts but did not wish to elaborate.
The woman known as Ye Han hurriedly bowed and asked, “Is there anything else? Should we continue searching for the missing ship?”
“Leave this matter to me; I have my own plans!” Long Yin Yue waved his hand dismissively as if he had more important matters to attend to.
Ye Han understood the meaning behind Long Yin Yue's words; it was clear that she was not the only one investigating this matter. With no leads of her own, the lord would naturally not waste any more time.
However, Ye Han also knew that there were some things she was not meant to know. She slightly bowed to Long Yin Yue and then turned to leave.
Long Yin Yue watched Ye Han depart, remaining silent. After an unknown amount of time had passed, he suddenly spoke to the empty hall, "Come in."
As soon as the words left his lips, a silver shadow appeared before Long Yin Yue like a gust of wind. Long Yin Yue merely raised an eyebrow, looking at the middle-aged man dressed in Silver Dragon Guard attire, whose appearance was rather ordinary. Such a person would go unnoticed in a crowd, yet upon closer inspection, he exuded an aura reminiscent of a mountain looming over a chasm.
"Have you broken through?" Long Yin Yue asked with a hint of a smile on his lips.
The middle-aged man cupped his fists and bowed slightly to Long Yin Yue. "I must thank you for your guidance; it enabled me to break through in one go." He seemed to understand what Long Yin Yue was referring to and answered without hesitation.
"Well then, how is the investigation going?" Long Yin Yue shifted the topic directly.
Upon hearing Long Yin Yue's question, the middle-aged man straightened up and replied seriously, "Combining Director Ding's data with the filtered entry and exit records from Aviation Port during this period, along with the timeline of the ship's disappearance, we have basically figured it out!
The escaped Short Woman should be a student from that school known as the cradle of generals in the Blue Seal Empire. They came to the Federation to complete their graduation project. As for the other individual named Ye Yu, I conducted inquiries through my friends in the Federation but found no information on this person. All I know is that he is a mixed-blood, likely a descendant of those Star Wanderers! Both of them are closely related to the missing ship.
However, strangely enough, while the ship vanished, we only found an unrecorded Type 9 mech. I suspect that Ye Yu's identity is not so simple; hence, he has been detained in Wasteland Prison alongside that person. The next steps will require your decision!"
Long Yin Yue squinted his eyes into slits, revealing a smile that was both amused and enigmatic. "It seems things are getting more interesting; I really must meet this young man!"
