Ye Yu was struck with shock, momentarily lost in thought. After all, he was just an eighteen-year-old boy, and facing a series of unexpected situations left him somewhat bewildered.
"Highest alert, highest alert! Missiles have breached the interior of the starship!"
At that moment, the voice of the Combat Assistance System echoed in Ye Yu's ears. Even the artificial intelligence sounded anxious, as if it were panicking.
Though it was only a brief moment of distraction, the battlefield had already changed dramatically. The relentless missile attacks from the enemy were proving effective; several missiles had broken through the defenses of High Mountain One and had flown directly into the interior of the starship!
In an instant, Ye Yu transformed into a blur, appearing at the control panel. At the same time, his hands moved like whirling blades over the sensor pad, and a massive holographic image of the starship materialized before his eyes.
What had once been a smooth and unified hologram of the ship now appeared mottled with colors, displaying crimson damage alerts across its exterior. Inside the ship, dozens of red beams resembling flowing fire darted about recklessly. However, the Combat Assistance System quickly provided a result: there were only two targets for these fiery beams—one was the energy compartment and the other was the Power Cabin!
The starship seemed powerful, but once its defensive systems were breached, it lacked effective means to counter attacks from thermal weapons. In this critical moment, Ye Yu quickly regained his composure. Almost instantly, he began to operate the emergency defense system.
"Quickly shut down the energy compartment and missile bay!"
"Activate Modular System and lock onto missile trajectories!" Ye Yu issued commands rapidly. The Federation's starships employed a modular design for standardized mass production and to allow for quick replacement of malfunctioning modules during emergencies, minimizing overall damage to the ship.
"Missiles locked on; Group One has reached Module Bay 11--7-8!" The Combat Assistance System soon provided an update.
Realizing that time was running out, Ye Yu ordered all entrances to this Module Bay to be sealed off immediately.
"Initiate internal detonation; blow up these missiles!" Ye Yu not only focused on the missile intrusion here but also needed to assess another missile group's trajectory toward the starship's most critical energy compartment.
As soon as Ye Yu's command was issued, he immediately began to control the defense System, locking another group of Missiles onto a Module Bay. In the next moment, two intense energy fluctuations erupted from the two Module Bays that Ye Yu had sealed off. The originally transparent blue holographic image now displayed two elongated red energy blocks!
"Ong Long Long—" Almost simultaneously, the entire spaceship trembled slightly, as if experiencing an earthquake. This destructive mode of energy cancellation resembled the defensive armor on armored vehicles from a millennium ago, which minimized the destructive power of energy fluctuations by counteracting the attacking force with reverse energy. Of course, the current reverse energy control was far more sophisticated, which was one of the reasons Ye Yu dared to detonate these Missiles internally.
However, shortly after, Ye Yu's eyelids twitched violently, and even the muscles in his face trembled slightly due to intense emotional fluctuations. In just a few seconds, hundreds of Space Battleships had already approached Ye Yu's ship.
At this moment, High Mountain One felt as vulnerable as an unclothed beauty, completely defenseless. These ships showed no mercy; as they drew near, they immediately unleashed a barrage of fierce artillery fire!
Most of these Space Battleships targeted the areas where High Mountain's Laser Cannons had been destroyed, turning those spots into blind spots for defense. The scorching Laser Beams danced like frenzied demons, relentlessly attacking the already damaged regions.
"Battle damage at 48%!"
Almost immediately after those ships initiated their first wave of attacks, the battle damage rate skyrocketed. It quickly surpassed the first-level alert threshold. According to the Federation's battle damage rating system, exceeding this percentage meant that the ship had lost its capability for prolonged interstellar travel!
Ye Yu furrowed his brow tightly and then remembered that he should contact Hulk and Li Zhe. In the chaos just moments ago, he hadn't had a chance to re-establish communication with the other two ships.
"Boss... I'm here..." Soon enough, Ye Yu managed to reach Hulk, but at that moment, it was clear that Hulk was also under severe attack; his holographic image flickered violently.
Seeing Hulk, Ye Yu immediately asked, "What’s your battle damage situation?" Although he had information about High Mountain Two and Ship Three's damage status, it was still not as accurate as what they could observe on-site.
"The signal interference is quite strong here; our Energy Shield can block their Laser Beam attacks. However, given their reckless fighting style, we are still in danger!" After flickering a few times, Hulk's holographic image quickly stabilized.
At this point, Ye Yu noticed that Hulk's Battleship was surrounded by a dense swarm of various short-range Space Battleships—upon closer inspection, there were actually hundreds of them.
Ye Yu couldn't help but click his tongue in frustration, recalling Jin Shan. If he were here, this situation would never have arisen. However, the current circumstances were deteriorating rapidly, and he needed support from others.
"Captain, I've engaged one of their Large Spaceships!" Just as Ye Yu was contemplating his next move, he heard Li Zhe's voice. At the same time, Li Zhe sent over the combat scene between both sides.
Soon, Ye Yu realized that Li Zhe was entangled with a slightly smaller Battleship, both sides exchanging fire through Laser Cannons, while numerous short-range Space Battleships engaged in one-on-one duels like knights.
At that moment, the battlefield appeared to be at a stalemate, but to Ye Yu, it felt extremely precarious. Their advantage lay in surprise attacks to eliminate the enemy's superior forces. However, after destroying all of the enemy's medium-sized ships and one Large Spaceship, they should have been able to press on and eliminate the remaining two Large Spaceships. Instead, the enemy had stabilized the situation and even showed signs of regaining balance!
Suddenly, at that moment, Ye Yu felt a violent tremor beneath his feet, and the entire ship emitted a terrifying rumble! The damage report indicated that the ship's damage rate had already exceeded a critical threshold and was continuously rising!
