“Phantom Blade? Your foundation?”
Ye Yu raised an eyebrow at Jin Shan's words, feeling somewhat puzzled. He vaguely remembered the moment he received a fatal blow, a strange energy had indeed been circulating around him. However, due to the severe injuries he sustained at that time, his awareness of his body had dropped to an all-time low, and he naturally did not delve into the source of that energy. Now, hearing Jin Shan mention Phantom Blade, he began to understand a bit more.
“When I forged the Phantom Blade for you, I added a protective function that could automatically activate its contained energy when you faced a lethal attack, ensuring your safety.”
Jin Shan rested his chin on one hand, looking at Ye Yu as he continued, “I just didn’t expect the force of the attack you faced this time to be so powerful that Phantom Blade exhausted all its energy to protect you yet still failed to prevent damage to your foundation.”
“Is there nothing you can do?” Although Ye Yu had not spent much time with Jin Shan, he felt an inexplicable trust in him. Hearing that his own foundation had been damaged left him with only one hope resting on Jin Shan.
Jin Shan shook his head. He seemed to sense Ye Yu's thoughts and continued, “I am not omnipotent, and my understanding of your Carbon-Based Life is not comprehensive. At least that force which damaged your body’s essence is something I have never encountered before.”
“That person’s combat power is at least above the Seventh Stage. I tried several full-force attacks and even exchanged injuries for injuries, but I couldn’t harm him at all!”
Ye Yu recalled the battle scene with lingering fear. Against opponents at the Sixth Level, he still had some fighting chance. But before that assassin, he felt an overwhelming pressure from a different level altogether; even mustering his courage only allowed him to ensure he could deliver one strike.
“What a fascinating life form; an individual can possess such immense attacking power.” Jin Shan approached Ye Yu and waved his hand casually, causing a Holographic Virtual Screen to appear before them. The information on the screen flashed rapidly as Jin Shan stared intently at it.
Time passed without him noticing until the Holographic Virtual Screen automatically shut down. Jin Shan then continued, “Your body is fine now; however, you cannot use your previous energy anymore. Otherwise, your body won’t be able to withstand it and will suffer irreversible damage.”
Upon hearing Jin Shan's words, Ye Yu felt indifferent; he had mentally prepared himself for this outcome. But just as his hopes had begun to rise, they were about to be dashed again? Subconsciously, Ye Yu focused on a nearby cup of water. A thread of Mental Power emerged from him, and instantly the previously motionless cup began to float.
“Hmm?” Jin Shan reacted quickly and immediately noticed the anomaly. After reviewing the diagnostic information again, he continued, “It seems I still don’t know much about this kind of power. The current instruments are unable to detect this intangible force at all; I thought it had already disappeared.”
Ye Yu let out a sigh of relief. The existence of Mental Power meant that he still had some hope. After all, this Psychic Power would grow stronger with his continued practice.
"Can I still use my Mental Power?" Ye Yu asked Jin Shan again, feeling uneasy. However, he didn't remain idle; the Mental Power that had been dormant in his mind suddenly transformed into invisible energy that scattered outward at Ye Yu's thought. At that moment, even with his eyes closed, Ye Yu could clearly sense the environment around him.
Soon, Ye Yu was pleasantly surprised to discover that his Mental Power had actually increased slightly. Considering he had been in a coma for some time and hadn’t practiced at all, the fact that it had grown even a little was quite a surprise for him.
Jin Shan, being exceptionally perceptive, noticed the smile on Ye Yu's lips and understood the answer. He said, "Alright, Miss Ling'er must be waiting anxiously outside. I'll head out now." Without waiting for Ye Yu's response, he leisurely walked out.
Long Ling'er then entered the room, looking like a forest sprite. Her water-green long dress brought life and vitality to the somewhat plain hospital room.
"Brother Yu, how are you? When can we go out together for some good food?" Long Ling'er gracefully approached Ye Yu, her fair cheeks adorned with a rosy hue. With each smile and movement, she exuded a warm feeling akin to a gentle spring breeze.
At this point, Ye Yu had mostly regained control over his body and felt almost like his usual self. He stood up and said, "Now that you've mentioned it, I'm hungry! Let's go right now!"
"Our great hero is awake!"
Just as Ye Yu finished speaking, a clear voice with a hint of mature charm came from the doorway. The newcomer wore casual attire but could not hide the youthful allure of her figure.
"Auntie!"
"Sister Fei!"
The visitor was Long Ruofei. She had just received news that Ye Yu was awake and rushed to the hospital immediately. She had been staying in Sin City because she had encountered assassins who were bold enough to target even her. If she didn't investigate thoroughly, it would mean she was living in constant danger. For the Dragon Family and to some extent for Silver Dragon Star, Long Ruofei's safety was not something to be taken lightly.
"Ling'er, please step outside for a moment. I have something to discuss with Ye Yu." Long Ruofei didn't hold back and gestured for Long Ling'er to leave, as this matter was not good for her.
"Aunt, why do you want me to go out? Is there something you can't say in front of me?" Long Ling'er immediately flushed red at Long Ruofei's words.
"Be good, Ling'er. Aunt has something very important to discuss. I'll be done soon." Long Ruofei looked at Long Ling'er with affection and comforted her gently.
Born into the Dragon Family, a prestigious lineage that had lasted for millennia, Long Ling'er naturally wouldn't act so willfully. In the end, she listened to her aunt and reluctantly stepped out, glancing back three times.
"There’s a decision that needs to be made by you." Once the automatic door closed completely, Long Ruofei put away her smile and looked at Ye Yu with a serious expression.
Seeing Long Ruofei's demeanor, Ye Yu felt a sense of unease in his heart. No matter what, he had just woken up and shouldn't be receiving terrible news. However, the fact that Long Ruofei wanted to avoid discussing this in front of Long Ling'er made him increasingly anxious.
"Sister Fei, just say what you need to." Whatever was coming would come; Ye Yu forced himself to appear calm as he looked at Long Ruofei.
Long Ruofei sighed as she gazed at Ye Yu. "You’ve been unconscious for over ten days. Our intelligence department has been working tirelessly during that time. This morning, we finally uncovered information about the assassin."
"He is one of the top ten assassins on the Assassin's List. According to our assessment, he possesses at least Eighth Level combat power and has an Ability related to space. The last time he acted was eighteen years ago when he killed a Federation fugitive with Eighth Level combat power!"
