The smell of disinfectant in the hospital was strong, likely because it had just been cleaned, and the entire room was filled with an unpleasant odor. Ye Yu frowned slightly, feeling a bit downcast. He had just woken up to find himself lying in a private hospital room, and there was not a single person around him.
He recalled the last moments before he lost consciousness—he had defeated Peak with a single punch. His physical skill level had returned to the fourth tier, but now he could only sense a faint energy within him, probably at the first tier level. For some unknown reason, he felt a sense of exhaustion.
"Another burst of energy!" Ye Yu wanted to vent his emotions, but unfortunately, there wasn't much energy left in him.
He didn't know how long he had been unconscious or whether it was day or night. The hospital room had no exits except for the door. Suddenly feeling uneasy, Ye Yu remembered waking up on Silver Dragon Star in a hospital as well, and after that incident, he had been thrown into prison.
Ye Yu understood how powerful fourth-tier energy was; Peak had taken his punch at the Third Stage level, and now things were looking grim. Although Ye Yu had never deliberately inquired about Peak's background, he knew that if he had truly killed Peak, the consequences would be severe.
This was Federation Homeworld, the most dazzling place in Federal Radiance. He thought that even with Jin Shan's help, escaping would be nearly impossible. Jin Shan's understanding of Carbon-Based Lifeform Cultivation energy was beyond his comprehension. Ye Yu knew that many top experts lived on Federation Homeworld.
However, Ye Yu shook his head; he knew that in most cases, the brilliance of the Federation remained radiant. With the Federation's medical standards, as long as Peak hadn't died outright, there was definitely still hope.
Ye Yu looked up at the button beside him. He didn't know whether this room lacked surveillance or for some other reason; it had been half an hour since he woke up without anyone coming in.
"Ding—" The call button emitted a soft sound as Ye Yu waited for a response from it.
After waiting for more than ten minutes and nearly losing his patience, the metal door finally opened. Two staff members dressed in formal attire entered—one male and one female. The man appeared to be around thirty years old with a square face; he was not tall but exuded an air of authority. The other was a young woman who was taller than him, with long hair and a serious expression.
"Hello, my name is Ye Cheng, Chief Attorney of Delrin District Law Firm on Federation Homeworld!" The man who introduced himself as Ye Cheng spoke sternly to Ye Yu.
Although puzzled, Ye Yu nodded in response but did not ask any questions, as he assumed the other party would provide him with information.
"Hello, I am Tang Shenshen, an intern lawyer from the First Military Academy!" The woman who introduced herself as Tang Shenshen extended her hand and gently shook Ye Yu's hand, continuing, "I am here to negotiate compensation on your behalf, and I hope you will cooperate with my work!"
"Compensation?" Ye Yu was somewhat confused, unsure when he had become involved in a compensation case.
"You know Peak, right?" Tang Shenshen bit her lip. This was her first case since starting her internship, and although it was simple, she intended to give it her all. However, she was puzzled by her bald supervisor's warning to be cautious of the opposing lawyer's attitude. If the other party remained stubborn, she would also need to make some concessions.
Having just graduated from the Political Science and Law College affiliated with Capitol Hill, Tang Shenshen's first job was in the legal department of the First Military Academy, which she took very seriously. Yet her supervisor's words left this fresh graduate feeling somewhat at a loss.
Seeing Tang Shenshen appear a bit dazed, Ye Yu began to understand the situation better. He hadn't expected the First Military Academy to send an intern lawyer. This meant that even if he was in the right, he could still find himself in a passive position.
"We're classmates!" Ye Yu attempted to stand up, but his body felt weak and he couldn't get up.
"Classmates? One who can smash a classmate's arm into pieces with a punch and nearly injure their lungs?" The lawyer named Ye Cheng raised his thick eyebrows sharply, exuding an intimidating presence. However, Ye Yu had faced Eighth Level experts before and was not intimidated by this level of pressure.
"It’s hard to control oneself in the arena!" Ye Yu rolled his eyes at him. Although he felt some guilt over Peak's injuries, he also felt somewhat relieved given the other party's aggressive stance. If it weren't for his sudden burst of energy, he probably wouldn't even be able to stay at the First Military Academy now.
"Ye Yu, please maintain at least a basic sense of decency!" Ye Cheng felt an inexplicable anger towards this young man who looked like a child lying in bed after having severely injured his nephew. The thought of his nephew's condition and its potential impact on his future combat abilities fueled his frustration.
"Ye Cheng, I understand your anger, but according to the case files and Professor X's testimony at the time, this cannot all be blamed on Ye Yu!"
Seeing Ye Cheng's determined attitude towards Ye Yu, Tang Shenshen quickly stepped in. As a lawyer, she knew she had to always stand by her client.
"Alright! The existing evidence is indeed insufficient to charge him with intentional injury; however, someone has been seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at the Military District General Hospital. Naturally, this cost needs to be borne by this Ye Yu." As Peak's uncle, Ye Cheng was determined to protect his interests. He knew that recovery treatment would be a significant expense even for the Gao Family. After all, the elder of the Gao Family was the current president and needed to maintain a clean image; thus their family did not have much income from benefits.
"How much?" Ye Yu instinctively asked. On one hand, it was because he had the money; on the other hand, he knew that although Peak had a terrible attitude, he bore some responsibility for the severe injuries.
Ye Cheng squinted at the young man before him. He naturally knew that the other party came from the Silver Dragon Guard and even had some connection with the legendary city lord. Therefore, he expected this young man to be quite arrogant, but now it seemed he had misjudged him.
"Not much, just ten billion in compensation!" Ye Cheng thought of this young man who might be related to his family from hundreds of years ago and stated a figure.
"Ten billion! Even the most advanced body reconstruction surgery wouldn't cost that much!" Tang Shenshen had prepared before coming and was well aware of Peak's injuries. Although body reconstruction surgery is expensive, the Military District General Hospital would definitely offer a reasonable price, considering both the First Military Academy's reputation and the Gao Family's influence. While the cost would still be considerable, it certainly wouldn't reach ten billion.
