Yama's Wedding
The two of them walked into the Mansion.
From the outside, the estate didn't seem remarkable, but once inside, it revealed a different world. The courtyard was paved with Pebbles, arranged in colorful patterns, while flowers and trees lined the walls, vibrant and full of life. As they surveyed the courtyard, not a single person was in sight. They followed the Pebbles path, and the scenery around them kept changing. It was as if every step revealed a new view, and they silently marveled at it. Though this was someone else's residence, it rivaled a palace; the wealth of this family was evident.
"Welcome, guests. You have arrived; the Master is waiting for you in the Hall," said the attendant before departing.
The two exchanged glances, and Xue stepped forward into the Hall.
In the Hall sat a man. Upon closer inspection, he wore a white robe, exuding a different aura than Xue. If Xue appeared like an immortal being, this man felt more like an ordinary passerby—yet not someone easily overlooked. Even though he sat inconspicuously on the platform, his presence still commanded attention despite Xue's presence in the Hall.
As soon as he saw them enter, he lifted his gaze.
What bright eyes! Yao Guang thought as he looked at the man. His otherwise ordinary features came alive under the brilliance of those eyes.
The man smiled slightly. "Are you two here to see me?"
"Indeed, we are here to solve the Master's dilemma," Xue replied calmly.
The Master turned his gaze toward Xue and Yao Guang behind him. "Oh, is that so?" The two short words seemed to carry immense weight as they left the Master's lips, sounding anything but peaceful.
Unmoved, Xue remained composed. "Master, lives are at stake."
"Ha ha, what do you mean by that?" the Master scoffed.
Unable to tolerate the Master's attitude any longer, Yao Guang jumped out from behind Xue. "How can you not understand? What we mean is that your manor is not clean. We are here to exorcise some ghosts."
Before she could finish her sentence, Xue quickly stepped forward and pulled Yao Guang into his embrace. With a loud thud, three nails suddenly appeared on the pillar behind them. Xue glared at the Master with a hint of anger.
"I dislike what your wife just said; it's unacceptable," he declared, and in an instant, the previously harmless man was enveloped in a chilling aura of menace.
Yao Guang had initially been startled, but once Xue ld her close, her mind went blank. Especially upon hearing that the Master claimed to be Xue's wife, all her dissatisfaction towards the Master was instantly forgotten.
"The Master's actions are too impulsive. We did not come here to fight; I can handle the matter regarding the Mansion," Xue said, locking eyes with the Master.
"Very well, if you are so confident, let’s give it a try. If you cannot resolve it, then your wife and you shall stay here," the Master replied. "Servants, take our guests to their room." With that, a servant appeared at the door. "Guests, please follow me."
Xue followed the servant with an unhappy expression while Yao Guang remained shy and flustered.
As they exited the hall, Xue glanced back at the Master. This Master was not someone to be underestimated; it seemed that obtaining the Solidifying Pearl would not be easy this time. Looking at Yao Guang's flushed face beside him, he felt it might be better for him to endure a bit more hardship.
"Here are your guest rooms; please rest for now," the servant said as they arrived at the door.
After leading them to their room, the servant turned and left.
Yao Guang stared wide-eyed at the room. There was only one guest room! Did the Master really misunderstand her relationship with Xue? At that moment, Yao Guang felt both shy and a little excited.
"Um, are we going to share a room tonight?" Yao Guang asked shyly.
"What?" Xue was still lost in thought about the earlier matter concerning the Master and hadn't fully registered what was being said.
"Never mind, it's nothing." Yao Guang quickly decided that she couldn't let Xue think she wanted to share a room with him. It seemed he hadn't caught on to that idea yet, and she certainly didn't want to walk into a trap.
Meanwhile, the Master sat quietly in the Hall after Xue and Yao Guang left. The man from earlier was no ordinary person. He wasn't truly angry about what the woman had said; he merely wanted to use the opportunity to test the two of them, and he was somewhat satisfied with the results. However, over the past year, many talented individuals had entered this place, yet none had made it out alive! He hoped these two wouldn't disappoint him. "Liu Qing, if this is what you wish for, then let us be together here," the Master's murmured voice echoed in the vast emptiness of the hall, sounding particularly lonely.
