Yama's Wedding
Xiao Yao Hao carefully surveyed the courtyard, and suddenly his eyes widened as he stumbled forward uncontrollably for two steps.
In his eyes, a red figure appeared ahead. Was that Liu Qing? Was that really Liu Qing?
Xiao Yao Hao gestured to Xue with his eyes, afraid of disturbing the person in front. Xue gently patted his shoulder, nodded, and then quietly retreated outside the courtyard. The world within this courtyard belonged to them; it had nothing to do with him.
Without alarming anyone, Xue stepped out of the courtyard and looked up to see Yao Guang waiting for him under a tree ahead.
"You told him!"
"Yes."
Xue knew that Yao Guang could understand his actions without needing further explanation.
Sure enough, Yao Guang approached, tugging at his sleeve, and asked, "Was that the right thing to do?"
Xue made a shushing gesture and led Yao Guang to a different spot, briefly recounting what had just happened with Xiao Yao Hao.
"Yes, that's about it. Xiao Yao Hao asked me just to take a distant look at Liu Qing, so I granted his request."
"What! He actually ambushed you? He's truly despicable! Are you hurt? Let me see." Upon hearing Xue's words, Yao Guang's first reaction was concern for Xue's well-being. She quickly examined him from head to toe and then anxiously began to check him over again.
Xue chuckled and pushed her hands away. "Don't worry, I'm fine. Really, I'm not hurt." To reassure Yao Guang, he even turned around.
"Are you really not hurt?" Yao Guang looked at him skeptically.
"Trust me, I'm really fine." Xue patted Yao Guang on the head, comforting her.
With Xue's affirmation, Yao Guang felt relieved and settled comfortably into the chair. "I knew it! That Xiao Yao Hao is no good. Just look at him, he even ambushed you! Luckily, you're a deity; otherwise, you would have been hurt. He really has no sense of decency," Yao Guang rambled on about Xiao Yao Hao's faults, feeling at ease.
Xue watched Yao Guang chatter away with a smile, remaining silent.
After a while, Yao Guang suddenly sensed something was off. Why hadn’t Xue said a word? Normally, if she talked this much, Xue would have grown impatient by now. Confused, Yao Guang looked up and met Xue's gaze, who was resting his chin on his hand and looking at her with a gentle smile.
Yao Guang's mind went blank again. What was Xue trying to do, staring at her like that? How could she bear it?
Seeing Yao Guang's momentary daze, Xue chuckled softly.
This made Yao Guang feel even more flustered. The usually serious Xue had already captured her heart, and now he was smiling at her like this. It felt as if she knew nothing anymore; all that remained was Xue's faint smile. Her mind, her eyes, and every part of her seemed to be filled with that smile, leaving no room for anything else.
"You, you, you..." Before she could finish her sentence, Yao Guang suddenly felt something trickling from her nose. She looked down and found her hands covered in bright red blood.
Then, Xue smiled as he helped Yao Guang deal with her nosebleed. Just moments ago, he had been watching her in a daze; the next second, he saw the silly girl across from him bleeding from her nose. He couldn't help but be taken aback—anyone would find this situation amusing.
As he laughed, Yao Guang felt even more embarrassed. Her face turned crimson as the trickle of blood transformed into a steady flow. Now Xue couldn't afford to laugh anymore; he quickly searched for something to help stop Yao Guang's bleeding.
To stem the flow of blood, Yao Guang tilted her head back to look at Xue as he tried to help her. She couldn't help but recall what had just happened and felt utterly humiliated. How could she bleed in front of him over something so trivial? But then she caught sight of Xue’s face so close to hers that she couldn’t resist; the blood flowed even more fiercely.
Xue was puzzled as to why the bleeding hadn’t stopped despite his efforts; it seemed to be getting worse instead.
Yao Guang had no choice but to push Xue away slightly and said in a soft voice, "Okay, okay, just stay a bit farther away from me. I can’t breathe properly."
Xue stared in surprise at Yao Guang, who was asking him to keep his distance for the first time. He glanced at her nose and realized it might be blocked, making it hard for her to breathe.
Obediently, Xue moved to a chair further away from Yao Guang. Although he still wanted to laugh inside, he dared not do so now for fear that any progress made in stopping the bleeding would be in vain.
However, Yao Guang was far too weak; just a little stimulation caused her nosebleed to flow uncontrollably. It seemed she needed to hasten her efforts to resolve the matter with Xiao Yao Hao and quickly obtain the Solidifying Pearl to stabilize Yao Guang's soul.
Xue furrowed her brows, pondering how to expedite the process.
Yao Guang sat across from Xue, noticing the frown on Xue's face, and felt her nosebleed threatening to return. It was hard to blame Yao Guang for her lack of composure; Xue was someone she admired. Moreover, although Xue had been immortal for a long time, his looks were undeniably exceptional. Otherwise, how could the first beauty of that realm, Flower Fairy, have pursued him for thousands of years? Typically, Xue's expression was devoid of emotion, yet this cold demeanor was captivating. Just moments ago, he had smiled, appearing extraordinarily handsome and charming.
Now, with his brows slightly knitted and lost in thought, he looked so serious that it felt as if one could spend an eternity by his side just watching him.
Yao Guang realized she couldn't keep staring at Xue like this; who knew what embarrassing thing she might do next?
She cleared her throat to draw Xue's attention and then asked, "Xue, is there really no other way for Liu Qing and Xiao Yao Hao?"
"Well, there isn't a better solution. Perhaps it's because they care too much that they are now even more reluctant to meet. The pain runs too deep; we can only watch them from afar."
Yao Guang had only intended to ask casually, hoping to find a topic to distract herself from what had just happened. She didn't expect Xue to respond so earnestly and with apparent sentimentality. This made Yao Guang worry about the two of them; although she didn't particularly like Xiao Yao Hao, she could see Xiao Yao Hao's genuine feelings for Liu Qing. Deep down, Yao Guang still hoped that Liu Qing could let go of her pain before reincarnation.
"I wonder how they are doing now?"
Xue and Yao Guang exchanged glances and gazed out the window.
