When Xue woke up, it was already dark outside. 0

Looking around, he realized he was in a cave. Not far away, Yao Guang was tending to a fire, the flames already dancing as Yao Guang methodically tossed more wood into it. 0

Xue checked his body and found that his wounds had been carefully bandaged by Yao Guang, and the skill didn’t seem too bad. 0

Hearing the noise behind him, Yao Guang turned around and saw that Xue had regained consciousness. With a smile, Yao Guang waved at him, signaling him to come over. 0

Xue walked to Yao Guang's side and sat down. 0

Yao Guang handed Xue a fish and said, "I’m not sure if you want to eat now or if you need to eat at all. The illusion here is quite well done; it’s almost indistinguishable from the outside world. If I didn’t know better, I would think I had just entered a forest." 0

Xue looked at the fish Yao Guang offered and took it. The fish was roasted better than he had expected; while it didn’t look particularly appetizing, he couldn’t help but admire how Yao Guang had managed to find shelter in this cave and food while he was unconscious. Everything he saw upon waking made Xue’s understanding of Yao Guang shift slightly. If it were up to him, he might not have done as well as Yao Guang did. 0

"When did you learn to do these things?" Xue asked while eating the fish, surprised by how good it tasted. 0

Yao Guang turned the fish roasting over the fire and replied, "In one of my past lives, I was a beggar. I had to find all my food myself. Being with them taught me a lot about surviving in harsh conditions; it's something every beggar has to learn." 0

So that’s how it is. The Emperor intended for Yao Guang to experience the hardships of life, allowing him to be reborn with memories from each life. However, little did he know that these experiences would grant Yao Guang unique abilities through each cycle of memory. It was precisely these transmitted memories that enabled Yao Guang to better navigate his life on Earth with each rebirth. If the Emperor knew about this, he would probably be furious. 0

Xue continued eating the fish roasted by Yao Guang. 0

The flames grew stronger. While Xue was unconscious, Yao Guang had many questions he wanted to ask him. Now that Xue was awake, Yao Guang found himself unsure of what to say. 0

Meanwhile, Xue looked at Yao Guang by the firelight and recalled the kiss before he lost consciousness, feeling uncertain about what to do next. The two of them silently continued eating their fish. 0

"Ouch!" Yao Guang exclaimed suddenly as he accidentally got burned by the lively flames while turning the fish. 0

"What's wrong? Let me see," Xue said as he heard Yao Guang's exclamation. He quickly dropped the fish he was holding and took Yao Guang's hand. He noticed a blister forming on her previously smooth skin from the sparks, and his heart ached at the sight. 0

Yao Guang hadn't fully processed what was happening when her hand was grasped by Xue. Under the flickering light, Xue focused intently on Yao Guang's hand, completely unaware that she was quietly watching him. 0

Yao Guang gazed at Xue, wondering if this was really happening or just a dream. For some reason, seeing Xue so concerned for her made her feel as if she were in a dream. Throughout their journey together, she had grown accustomed to his somewhat distant demeanor, but in this surreal moment, he felt like a completely different person. 0

"Xue, is this real?" The words slipped out before she realized it, and she was surprised at her own vulnerability. 0

Finally, Xue shifted his gaze away from Yao Guang's injured hand. Fortunately, the burn wasn't too severe and should heal without leaving a scar. 0

Xue noticed the worry in Yao Guang's eyes and smiled softly. In an instant, he pulled her into his embrace. Caught off guard, Yao Guang fell into his arms. Just as she thought about struggling free, she remembered Xue's injury and decided to stay still. 0

Xue was pleased with Yao Guang's response. He tightened his hold on her and said, "Yao Guang, listen to my heartbeat; it won't lie to you." His deep voice resonated above her head, causing Yao Guang to blush. 0

Yao Guang rested quietly against Xue's chest, listening to the sound of his heartbeat—thump, thump, thump. With her close proximity, his heart raced even faster, beating quicker because of her presence. 0

Sweetly, Yao Guang thought about how despite Xue's usual coldness, when he spoke tenderly, it was utterly disarming. This man was finally hers. A wave of happiness washed over her. 0

As Xue ld Yao Guang close, he felt the warmth radiating from her small frame. Beneath that delicate exterior lay an unexpected resilience he had yet to fully understand. Just like now; if it weren't for him, Yao Guang would have managed just fine on her own here while he had made a mess of things. 0

"Xue, how did you get in here?" After hearing his confession, Yao Guang suddenly recalled something important. 0

Xue explained the entire situation to her. 0

"So that's how it is! That Fallen Immortal is truly despicable; for their own selfish interests, they don't realize how many lives they've harmed! I can't believe Xiao Yao Yu managed to acquire such a sinister object," Yao Guang exclaimed angrily. She had initially thought that human affairs were mundane but never expected such malevolent things existed. 0

"Yes, there must be a larger force behind Xiao Yao Yu; it's impossible for him alone to wield such power. For now, we need to find a way out of here and investigate Xiao Yao Yu properly once we're safe." 0

"Yes." No matter what Xue said now, Yao Guang would obediently listen to his decisions. 0

"Right now, the most important thing is to understand what this space, this environment is all about. Along the way, I've encountered some illusions. It seems that this place transforms into real people and real events based on your innermost thoughts. So," Xue said seriously to Yao Guang, "from now on, we must never separate. We need to stay together at all times and avoid letting our minds wander. We can't allow these illusions to seep into our hearts." 0

"Yes, Xue, how did you get hurt?" 0

Yao Guang's question caught Xue off guard. His injury was caused by the fake Yao Guang he had encountered earlier. She had taken advantage of his moment of confusion and attacked him. Although he had reacted in that instant, he still ended up getting hurt. This made it difficult for him to speak. 0

Yao Guang rarely looked at Xue in such a way; she seemed a bit shy. Could it be that her question made him shy? This thought made Yao Guang particularly curious about how Xue had gotten hurt. 0

"Uh, that's a long story. Let's focus on this illusion for now..." 0

Xue awkwardly tried to change the subject, but Yao Guang, seeing him like this for the first time, was not going to let him off easily. 0

"Xue, come on! How did you really get hurt?" Yao Guang pressed on. 0

Xue was really quite adorable like this; clearly unwilling to answer, yet trying to divert the topic so clumsily that it was obvious there was something more behind it. 0

"Uh, let's not discuss this topic. I just... got hurt like that. It's nothing worth mentioning. In this illusion, we need to be more cautious. Even though we are here as souls, it's just like reality; we can get hurt and even die." Xue deliberately spoke seriously, hoping to shift Yao Guang's attention away from his injury. 0

Haha, Xue even stammered a bit! Who gets hurt and says it like that? Only Xue could do such a thing. Yao Guang suddenly felt that being in this illusion wasn't so bad after all; at least she got to see a side of Xue she had never seen before. 0

"Xue, there must be something behind your injury! Your face is all red!" Yao Guang teased as she poked his cheek. 0

Xue found himself at a loss for words. After all these years, no one had ever dared to speak to him like this. Back when he was in the West as Buddha's disciple and the Wheel King of the West, people only looked at him with reverence; no one would dare show any disdain. Even after being demoted to the Underworld, he remained one of the Ten Kings of Hell, and even Yama King wouldn't casually give him orders. 0

And now, he was completely flustered by this girl in his arms, unable to let her know even such a small thing. 0

Yao Guang looked at Xue Ban, who had not answered her, and her hands became increasingly unruly as she began to poke at Xue's chest. "Xue, come on, how did you get this injury?" Yao Guang's hand intentionally brushed over Xue's wound. 0

Xue felt Yao Guang's fingers lightly caressing his injury, a slight tingling sensation spreading through him, and a wave of heat rising in his abdomen. Meanwhile, Yao Guang remained blissfully unaware of the fire she was igniting within him. 0

"Yao Guang, stop messing around." 0

Yao Guang detected a hint of warning in Xue's voice. If this were before, she would never have dared to be so bold. But now, things were different. Knowing that Xue harbored similar feelings for her, she decided to seize the moment and take revenge for the times Xue had ignored her. In other words, she was deliberately teasing him while he was injured. 0

Instead of heeding Xue's warning, Yao Guang grew bolder. Xue noticed the smirk at the corner of her mouth; this girl was doing it on purpose. It seemed she had gained quite a bit of courage. 0

Xue chuckled at the mischievous Yao Guang. Since she wanted to play, he would indulge her. 0

He lifted Yao Guang's chin and leaned in to kiss her. 0

Yao Guang was taken by surprise by Xue's sudden move. After the initial shock, she found herself lost in the kiss. 0

What had started as a playful tease for Xue quickly turned into something deeper as he became more engrossed in the moment. 0

As for Yao Guang's earlier question, it had long been forgotten. 0
