What is going on here? 0

Yao Guang looked at the group of people in front of him, wondering if he was seeing things. 0

“Yao Guang, stand behind me.” At this, the two individuals stopped their commotion, and Yao Guang obediently moved behind Xue. 0

“This tree I planted, this road I opened. If you want to pass through, leave some toll behind.” 0

“Pfft.” Yao Guang couldn't help but chuckle softly at those words from behind Xue. 0

“You can still laugh? I think you all are just asking for trouble!” A Red-Clad Woman stood in front, wielding a large knife. 0

“Head of the Family, don’t waste your breath with them. Let me show you what I can do.” A burly man eagerly brandished his knife. 0

“Xue, who are they?” 0

“Yes!” Upon hearing Xue's response, Yao Guang gasped. He had just been wondering how such a group could suddenly appear in the forest. It turned out his guess was correct; these people were the bandits who had been burned alive in the woods, as mentioned by the second one. 0

From behind Xue, Yao Guang looked at the group. If it weren't for Xue's confirmation, he would never have imagined that the people before him were ghosts. “But why can I see them?” Normally, spirits cannot be seen by humans; just like Liu Qing before, Yao Guang couldn’t see her without Xue’s help. Yet he could clearly see this group of people. 0

“I don’t know. They don’t carry any malice; they aren’t evil spirits that harm the living.” 0

So that’s how it is. This meant that these people held no ill intentions, and Yao Guang felt a bit more at ease. He had been worried that if they were evil spirits and outnumbered them, Xue might not be able to handle it. 0

“Alright, Old Five, let me see what you can do.” The Red-Clad Woman readily accepted the man's challenge. 0

“Old Five, you better not mess this up; there are only two of them!” Laughter erupted from the bandits across from them. It seemed that Old Five didn’t hold a very high position among them. To Yao Guang’s surprise, the Red-Clad Woman appeared to be their leader. 0

“Ha! Today you’ll see what I, Old Five, am capable of. Boss, watch closely!” Old Five cracked his knuckles confidently. 0

"Ha!" Old Five let out a sound as he charged towards Xue, wielding his large blade. 0

Yao Guang instinctively reached out to pull Xue away upon seeing Old Five's massive frame, but Xue quickly grabbed Yao Guang's arm with one hand while effortlessly catching Old Five's blade with the other as he approached. 0

Seeing his weapon caught, Old Five attempted to pull it back, lifting the blade but finding it stuck. 0

"Hah!" Old Five grunted, still unable to free his weapon. 0

"Old Five, did you have your breakfast inside your wife's belly?" someone mocked. 0

"Old Five, let me handle this!" another voice chimed in. 0

"Hahahahaha!" The bandits behind them erupted in laughter at the sight of Xue holding Old Five's blade with just one hand. 0

"You bastards, what do you know? I'm just letting this pretty boy have his fun," Old Five retorted angrily. 0

At that moment, Yao Guang felt a surge of confidence. With Xue handling the situation so effortlessly, he figured that even if a few more Old Fives showed up, Xue would still manage just fine. He relaxed and watched the fight unfold, simply admiring Xue's cool demeanor. 0

Old Five turned to curse at his comrades but was internally shaken. His strength was well-known in the Bandit Hideout; even the leader sometimes struggled to withstand his blows. Although he had underestimated Xue and hadn’t exerted all his strength, it seemed impossible for someone like Xue to stop him so easily. 0

Xue maintained a calm and composed expression, as if facing not a much larger opponent but rather an ant he could crush at will. 0

Taking a deep breath, Old Five adjusted his grip on the hilt of his sword and shouted, "Hey!" 0

Seeing his stance, Xue smirked slightly. Yao Guang felt a chill run down his spine at that smile; it seemed Old Five was about to face disaster. He felt pity for Old Five in his heart. 0

In the next moment, Old Five lost his balance and stumbled forward, crashing to the ground as his large blade clattered beside him. 0

"You bastard! Are you playing with your grandfather?" Old Five growled as he scrambled back to his feet, glaring at Xue. 0

"Old Five, come back!" At this sight, the Red-Clad Woman stood up and called out to him. 0

The once cheerful crowd had now settled into a tense silence, their wary eyes fixed on Xue and Yao Guang. Xue stood tall, unperturbed by their scrutinizing gazes. 0

Old Five, having heard the woman's voice, rubbed his backside and limped back toward them. 0

"This young master, we were blind to your greatness and have offended you!" the Red-Clad Woman spoke up. 0

Though her words seemed to convey an apology, Yao Guang detected no sincerity in her tone. 0

Xue continued to ignore them, creating an awkward atmosphere. 0

"Since you understand the situation, why not let us pass?" Yao Guang stepped forward, glancing at Xue. 0

"That won't do. Once you're on our turf, there's no way we're letting you go without something in return; otherwise, where would our dignity be?" The woman’s bright demeanor belied her rude words. 0

It was strange; weren't these bandits supposed to rob ordinary folk? Why had their principles changed so drastically? 0

Yao Guang felt wronged on their behalf. Unbeknownst to her, both she and Xue were dressed in garments prepared by Liu Qing. The attire from the prestigious Xiao Yao Villa was already quite valuable, and Liu Qing had specifically chosen the finest outfits for them. To others, they appeared as a wealthy young master accompanied by his lady on a leisurely outing. If these bandits were after riches, who else could they target besides Yao Guang and Xue? 0

"Then come at us!" Xue replied nonchalantly. 0

"Xue, aren't you just provoking them?" Since earlier, Xue's demeanor had shifted significantly; it felt as though he was intentionally taunting them. 0

"It's fine; I have my own plans," Xue assured her. 0

Hearing his response, Yao Guang realized that Xue must have something in mind. All she needed to do was cooperate with him. 0

"Come on! You can't possibly be this weak; it's laughable!" If she was going to provoke them, she intended to do it right. Yao Guang prided herself on being unmatched in this regard. 0

"Since you're seeking death, don't blame me!" The Red-Clad Woman's eyes flashed with anger at Yao Guang's taunt. It had been a long time since anyone dared to provoke her like this. Perfect; she could use this opportunity to stretch her muscles. 0

The woman casually tossed her large blade to someone nearby. Surprisingly, her weapon wasn't even a sword. 0

In the next moment, the crimson light of the sword flowed from the woman's sleeve. Before Yao Guang could react, that flash of crimson had already reached her and Xue. 0

With a quick tap of her toes, she retreated urgently! 0

Xue protected Yao Guang and moved back several feet. "Stay here and protect yourself," he said before leaping forward. 0

The crimson sword light surged upward, weaving three intricate patterns in the air like a snake flicking its tongue, aiming directly at Xue's brow. Yao Guang, closely watching them both, couldn't help but admire the woman's agility; such exquisite skill was rare, no wonder she was the Head of the Family among this group of bandits. Meanwhile, Xue simply watched as the woman lunged at him. In that instant, he lightly tapped his foot and vanished into thin air! The woman struck at empty space, momentarily stunned. When she focused her gaze again, she saw Xue standing ten yards away. Her expression shifted slightly as she regarded the retreating Xue, who merely grinned and lightly tapped his toes, leisurely approaching her. 0

However, beneath this seemingly slow pace, in almost a single breath, Xue had already flashed to the woman's front. His palm surged with true energy and struck down toward her face. 0

A flicker of surprise crossed the woman's face. Yet despite her astonishment, the Red-Clad Woman did not falter; she slightly shifted her body, condensing true energy at her fist to meet Xue's palm head-on! 0

"Bang—" 0

Their fist and palm collided fiercely, sending shockwaves of fierce energy rippling through the air. Both figures momentarily froze in place; however, after a brief pause, Xue remained completely still while the woman staggered back several steps before regaining her balance. It was evident that Xue's strike had inflicted significant damage on her. 0

"Head of the Family." Her followers rushed in upon witnessing this scene. 0

"Brothers, let's make sure this guy doesn't leave alive today." 0

"Brothers, charge!" 0

Seeing their leader injured ignited a fire in her subordinates; they brandished their weapons and sought revenge against Xue. 0

Yao Guang quickly ran to stand in front of Xue. If a fight broke out, she could assist him to ensure he wouldn't suffer too much. 0

"Stop!" The woman shouted loudly, halting her men. 0

"Head of the Family!" Unwilling voices echoed around them. 0

"It is our lack of skill that has brought shame upon us," she said as she pushed away those supporting her and addressed Xue. 0

Yao Guang admired the woman at that moment. Although she was a bandit, she had a broad mind; losing was losing, and she graciously admitted it, her demeanor calm and composed, neither arrogant nor impatient. 0

"Thank you!" Xue cupped his fists in return. 0

"Since we have lost, we will not obstruct you, young master. You may pass through here," the Red-Clad Woman commanded her subordinates to clear a path. 0

"Xue, let’s go," Yao Guang said to Xue. 0

"May I ask what the Head of the Family thinks of my martial arts?" Xue turned back to the Red-Clad Woman. 0

Not only did Yao Guang find it strange, but even the bandits felt puzzled. 0

"They are indeed very good," the woman replied. 0

"Then, would the Head of the Family be willing to accept my allegiance?" Xue asked. 0

What? Is Xue planning to become a bandit? That was the only thought running through Yao Guang's mind at that moment. 0
