Yama's Wedding
When Jun Ruo saw the man issue that command, his face changed completely; there must be some unspeakable secret in that box.
Thinking this way, Jun Ruo was eager to find out what was inside the box.
“Woman!” After the box was opened, everyone gathered around, gasping in surprise.
Yao Guang heard their words and also moved closer, only to see that a woman was indeed bound inside.
The woman was tied up with her hands behind her back, dressed like a noble lady. A cloth was stuffed in her mouth, and as she was stared at by so many people, she blinked her eyes, tears welling up, looking at everyone in fear.
“It's just a woman; how boring.” Old Five came over for a glance and then shook his head dismissively as he walked away.
Yao Guang looked helplessly at Old Five. This man had two great loves in life: wealth and martial arts. Yao Guang discovered this after enduring Old Five's daily harassment towards him and Xue. As for the delicate beauty before them, Old Five showed no pity whatsoever.
“Old Five, untie her,” Jun Ruo said, looking at the beauty in the box. This was unexpected; while other boxes contained stones, this one held a living beauty. Who had sent her as a message? What had gone wrong?
Old Five let out an “ah” as he caught Jun Ruo's warning gaze and could only sulkily return to the box's side. With a wave of his hand, he lifted the woman from the box and tossed her to the ground, carelessly brandishing a knife towards her without regard for her pale, terrified face.
It was truly too unrefined; Yao Guang felt sorry for the woman as he watched Old Five's rough demeanor. She had such a pitiful appearance but ended up with someone as thick-headed as Old Five—what a shame!
“Old Five, you scared her unconscious,” Jun Ruo said unhappily.
Everyone looked down and realized why the woman hadn’t made a sound after removing the cloth from her mouth; she had fainted without them noticing.
Seeing this, everyone fell silent for a moment before bursting into laughter at Old Five.
“Old Five, you really went too hard on her.”
“Old Five, you have no mercy for such a delicate wife!”
The last sentence resonated deeply with Yao Guang, who silently agreed in his heart.
Old Five felt embarrassed under the gaze of everyone, especially when he caught Jun Ruo's reproachful look. He hadn’t expected the woman to be so delicate; a mere light touch had caused her to faint. He knew all too well that women could be quite troublesome.
Old Five approached the woman and gave her a gentle kick, saying, "Hey, wake up." After kicking her a couple of times with no response, he squatted down and patted her face. After just a few taps, a faint red mark appeared on her cheek. Old Five was startled and muttered, "She’s too fragile; it turned red just like that."
Unable to watch Old Five's antics any longer, Yao Guang stepped forward, pushed Old Five aside, and pressed on the woman's philtrum.
Old Five eagerly hoped for assistance, and Yao Guang's actions aligned perfectly with his wishes, prompting him to step back quickly.
Stimulated by Yao Guang's actions, the woman slowly regained consciousness. Upon seeing so many people surrounding her, she timidly took a few steps back.
As the woman woke up, Jun Ruo noticed that the man's expression suddenly turned tense.
"Miss, you don’t need to be afraid; we won’t hurt you," Yao Guang said softly to her.
The woman looked at Yao Guang, who quickly flashed a reassuring smile.
She glanced at Yao Guang, then around at the others, and finally cast a wary look at Old Five. Feeling guilty about what had just happened, Old Five forced a smile, which only startled her further.
Yao Guang shot a fierce glare at Old Five, who defensively rubbed his head and stepped behind someone else.
"Don’t worry; he’s not a bad person," Yao Guang reassured the woman.
After witnessing the earlier scene, the woman seemed to gather her resolve and nodded lightly, still showing faint red marks on her face.
"Can you tell me your name and how you ended up in this box?" Yao Guang asked slowly.
As soon as the woman heard Yao Guang's question, tears began to roll down her cheeks.
Yao Guang was taken aback; he hadn't done anything yet, so why was the girl crying all of a sudden?
"Please don't cry. If something is bothering you, you can tell us," Yao Guang said softly to comfort her.
To his surprise, the girl raised her hand, pointed to her mouth, and shook her head.
What did that mean?
"You are mute," Jun Ruo said after observing the girl's gestures.
Mute? Upon hearing Jun Ruo's words, Yao Guang looked at the woman, who nodded in agreement with Jun Ruo's statement.
Yao Guang gazed at the woman before him. Though she wore simple clothes and had a plain appearance, there was something captivating about her. She donned a blue gauzy top that accentuated her slender waist, cinched with a purple belt adorned with emeralds. A few strands of hair fell gracefully over her shoulders, highlighting her delicate skin that seemed almost translucent. Her face was free of makeup yet exuded a fresh charm.
Her large eyes, still glistening from tears, made her look even more endearing. A gentle breeze swept by, causing the girl to hug herself slightly, revealing her fragile frame.
It was hard to believe that such a woman could be mute.
Jun Ruo's expression showed disbelief as he suddenly drew his sword and pointed it directly at the girl.
"What are you doing?" Yao Guang exclaimed, confused by Jun Ruo's sudden action.
Xue noticed Jun Ruo's movement and calmly walked over to Yao Guang, pulling her aside and signaling for her to remain silent.
Seeing Xue's gesture, Yao Guang quieted down.
"Head of the Family, what are you doing?" Old Five, who had been walking away, turned back upon witnessing the scene and asked.
"Who are you?" Jun Ruo demanded, resting his sword on the girl's shoulder.
The girl trembled in fear, her eyes wide with terror.
"Head of the Family," she is mute, how can she speak?" Old Five stood protectively in front of the woman.
"Step aside, or I'll deal with you too," Jun Ruo said angrily, her sword pointed menacingly at Old Five.
Old Five stared in shock at the sword before him. What was going on with Head of the Family? How could she point a weapon at her own person? He felt deeply hurt and stood there in a daze.
The woman saw Old Five blocking her and began to make incoherent sounds, "Ah ah ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah ah."
From her mouth came a series of disjointed noises, and her hands waved excitedly. Even though Yao Guang couldn't fully understand, he could tell that the woman was desperately trying to defend herself.
"Give me a reason," Jun Ruo shouted, startling everyone present with her fierce tone.
Xue silently observed, deep in thought.
"Ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah." The woman continued to make her disjointed sounds.
"If you don't, don't blame me."
Jun Ruo's sword swept around Old Five and struck directly at the woman. (To be continued.)
