Yama's Wedding
“Celestial Assembly!” The voice of the Jade Emperor echoed from within Lingxiao Palace.
The Jade Emperor was summoning them!
Upon hearing his voice, Yao Guang and Kaiyang hurried towards Lingxiao Palace. As they entered, they were met with a sight that left them astonished. The once impeccably dressed deities looked even more disheveled than Yao Guang and Kaiyang. Although they had not suffered any serious injuries, their appearance was far worse than usual. Their clothes, which were typically spotless, were now covered in dust, and their neatly combed hair was now a tangled mess.
“Pfft!” Seeing the state of the other deities, Kaiyang couldn't help but laugh.
Yao Guang shot a fierce glare at Kaiyang Star Lord. She wanted to laugh too, but considering the seriousness of the situation, she forced herself to hold it in.
“If you don’t want to die, shut up!” Looking at the interaction between the two, Shu gently admonished Yao Guang and Kaiyang. These two were truly a handful; even in such a serious setting, they could still find something to laugh about. It was hard to tell if they were just too carefree or simply fearless.
“Big Dipper Seventh Star, you have arrived!” The Jade Emperor greeted them as he noticed the seven of them entering the hall.
“We are here, Your Majesty!” Their strong voices resonated throughout the palace. Compared to the other deities, the Big Dipper Seven Stars looked significantly better.
“You must have sensed it by now; the Dragon Clan has launched an attack. We must go to battle!” The Jade Emperor addressed the seven of them.
“We are willing to go!” Shu and the others replied firmly to the Jade Emperor.
“Good!” The Jade Emperor slammed his hand on the table in front of him and cast an approving glance at Shu Xing Jun and several other Star Lords. He knew that in this time of crisis for the court, only the Big Dipper Seven Stars were willing to take on the responsibility of defending justice.
“My loyal subjects, quickly go capture that Demon Dragon. You may mobilize any soldiers within this court as you see fit,” the Jade Emperor added.
Fearful that the Big Dipper Seven Stars could not mobilize the Soldiers, the group knelt before the Jade Emperor.
"We are willing to serve the Big Dipper Seven Stars," they declared.
"Good, my loyal subjects, go forth. I shall await your good news in the Lingxiao Palace!" the Jade Emperor responded to everyone below.
Shu and Yaoguang received this command and, along with several other Star Lords, rose to lead the Soldiers straight into the mortal realm.
Unbeknownst to them, the Jade Emperor watched their departing figures from behind. The Big Dipper Seven Stars could be a formidable force; however, the power possessed by these seven Star Lords was overwhelmingly strong, even warranting caution from the Jade Emperor himself.
The Jade Emperor sighed inwardly, thinking that if it weren't for the unity of the Big Dipper Seven Stars, he would not have resorted to such measures. At this moment, he hoped they would not blame him for being ruthless. If they were in his position, perhaps they would understand his difficulties.
Long before summoning the Big Dipper Seven Stars for an audience, the Jade Emperor had privately handed a decree to Erlang Shen. When the time came for desperate measures, Erlang Shen would present this decree. By then, the Big Dipper Seven Stars would understand. He only hoped they would obediently follow Erlang Shen's arrangements and not resist his orders recklessly; otherwise, it was likely that none of them would be spared.
The celestial beings remaining in the court glanced at their Jade Emperor, who suddenly flashed a fierce gaze. Everyone lowered their heads slightly, pretending not to notice the ruthlessness in his eyes. It seemed another celestial being was about to face misfortune; it was better to keep a low profile.
Shu and Yaoguang led their Soldiers down to the mortal realm.
Since their separation that day, Xue had received little information about Yaoguang. He found a house in the human world and spent his days leisurely fishing, playing chess, and savoring tea—living quite carefree. Although he felt anxious inside, Xue knew that worrying wouldn’t help.
At that moment, he saw seven brilliant lights streak across the sky. Coupled with the sudden tremors while he was fishing at the pond—where all the fish leaped onto dry land—it seemed that Yaoguang and Shu had descended into the mortal realm. Was the war between the dragon clan and heaven about to begin? Xue calculated and confirmed it indeed was!
Watching as clouds darkened ominously, he wondered what calamities awaited humanity. Transforming into a beam of light, he flew off into the distance.
"Bold Demon Dragons! How dare you act so recklessly here!" Shu and the Star Lords arrived in the mortal realm just in time to see several Demon Dragons casting spells in the sea, attempting to summon waves against heaven.
Kaiyang raised his Fire Cloud Gun as soon as he saw them, hovering in mid-air and shouting loudly.
"Who dares to obstruct us?" One of the dragons opened its mouth and spoke human language, glaring at Kaiyang and his companions.
As the tension between both sides escalated, Shu stepped forward on auspicious clouds and addressed the dragons below, "We are the Big Dipper Seven Stars, sent by the Jade Emperor to capture the Demon Dragon!"
With a wave of his sleeve, Shu spoke politely to them.
"I thought you were some kind of deity, but it turns out you are just the Big Dipper Seven Stars. As ancient beings, you have sullied your reputation by associating with the Jade Emperor. How can you still show your faces before us?" One of the White Dragons retorted rudely.
Yao Guang focused and realized that this White Dragon was likely Aoyin, the eldest prince of the East Sea Dragon King.
"Aoyin, do not speak so arrogantly!" Yao Guang shouted angrily, unable to tolerate their insults towards the Big Dipper Seven Stars.
Upon hearing Yao Guang's reprimand, Aoyin curled his tail and whipped up waves in the sea, charging toward Yao Guang.
Seeing the massive wave rushing toward him, Yao Guang drew his treasure from his side—two Twin Swords. He swiftly spun his swords in a dazzling display of skill that left onlookers bewildered. The enormous wave that had been aimed at him was effortlessly split in two by Yao Guang's gentle sword movements, passing harmlessly on either side before crashing back into the sea. Sheathing his swords, Yao Guang returned to Shu's side.
"If you surrender now, I can plead with the Jade Emperor for your lives!" Shu glanced at Yao Guang, who remained still, and continued addressing them.
"We'll see how you plan to spare us!" The Demon Dragons were clearly enraged by Yao Guang's earlier display of power.
The four dragons coiled their tails in unison and forcefully struck the sea, creating a wave even larger than the one that had surged toward Yao Guang. It threatened to engulf the entire area as it barreled toward Shu and Yao Guang.
Yao Guang, Kaiyang, and the soldiers behind them had never witnessed such a terrifying wave or heard such a roaring storm. The massive wave acted like a barrier between them and the dragon clan. Even with their profound magical abilities, Yao Guang and Kaiyang were astonished by what lay before them—the wave shattered the surface of the sea, howling winds filled the air, and lightning flashed while thunder roared like a stampede of thousands of horses.
The chilling sound echoed in the air.
"Unaware of your own demise!" As he spoke, Shū's anger flared upon witnessing the scene before him. He had just tried to mediate, unwilling to see innocent lives lost, but these Demon Dragons were not only stubborn but also relentless in their approach. It was time to show no mercy!
"Bind!" Shū stepped forward, positioning himself in front of everyone. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a net that was initially no larger than a handkerchief. However, as it floated in the air, the net expanded until it matched the size of the waves created by the Demon Dragons. The net enveloped both Shū and the torrents of water before him. Inside the net, the waves churned violently. Shū gripped his hands tightly, staring intently at the net as he brought his palms together in front of his chest, chanting an incantation under his breath. Golden light began to flow from his hands into the net. In the darkened sea, only the shimmering golden glow illuminated Shū's face, which bore a hardened expression, his sharp eyes fixed straight ahead.
Before long, the net completely encased the waves, slowly transforming until it condensed into droplets of water. Once he saw that the water had solidified into beads, Shū stepped forward and placed them into his pocket before turning to face the Demon Dragons. "Demon Dragons, will you admit your mistakes?"
Seeing Shū's expressionless demeanor as he addressed them, the other Star Lords who knew him well understood that these Demon Dragons were likely facing dire consequences.
Shū was known for his impatience, especially when it came to those who refused to learn from their mistakes. These two traits were precisely what the Demon Dragons had displayed. When angered by enemies, Shū often wore a stoic expression. His fury was usually quenched only by the destruction of an entire clan.
Yao Guang and Kaiyang watched Shū with growing concern for the Demon Dragons. Why did they have to provoke him?
The Demon Dragons were taken aback by Shū's display of power. They had just summoned waves that could easily topple mountains, yet this seemingly frail Star Lord had effortlessly neutralized their attack. They stared in astonishment at this figure clad in black.
The Soldiers, initially frightened by the massive waves, erupted in cheers upon seeing Shu Xing Jun dispel them. Those who had retreated earlier now surged forward with renewed vigor. Kaiyang looked down on these Soldiers; he had seen them cower when faced with danger. Had Shū not intervened, Kaiyang suspected they would have fled without a fight, bringing shame upon their ranks. He couldn't help but admire his older brother's formidable skills that allowed him to withstand the onslaught of these Demon Dragons.
"You? You! That's the Water Condensation Technique!" an elder from the Aquatic Race trembled as he pointed at Shū.
Upon hearing this, the Demon Dragons gazed at Shū in disbelief. While others might not understand, those from the dragon lineage were well aware of what the Water Condensation Technique entailed. Many deities could manipulate water to some extent; however, historically only dragons could condense water into beads. Even with various magical artifacts, none could match a dragon's prowess. Yet here was a Star Lord who could use an artifact to condense vast amounts of water into a single droplet. Though he relied on an artifact, it was evident that this Star Lord possessed extraordinary skills comparable to those of dragons. The Aquatic Race members silently chastised themselves for having overlooked such talent within their ranks.
"But what does that matter? It's merely a trivial skill; it cannot halt our advance!" retorted one of the dragons defiantly.
Suddenly, several Demon Dragons shook their bodies and let out a long roar; in an instant, fierce winds whipped through the area, shaking mountains for miles around!
The sea was tumultuous. Several Demon Dragons shimmered with scales that glinted in the light, their claws outstretched as they twisted and coiled in the air, emitting a series of Dragon Roars that reverberated across the waves. The roar stirred the sea, causing countless surges of water to rise, whipping up tornadoes that rolled and boiled upon the surface.
The dragons' eyes blazed like torches, gleaming with the ferocity of wild beasts.
With eyes as large as bronze bells, they fixed their gaze on the Soldiers before them.
"We are Dragonborn, proud and fierce. If you wish for us to submit, then come and fight!"
At these words from their leader, the battle spirit of the dragon kin surged high. Amidst the crashing waves, their long shadows danced upon the water, wherever they went, chaos followed.
Beneath them stood a hundred thousand Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals, roaring with fervor as drums beat in rhythm to their battle cries.
"Greedy Wolf Star Lord Shu has come to fight!"
After this upheaval, all of Shu's resolve surged within him.
With that, he soared forward alone to meet the challenge. (To be continued.)
