Yama's Wedding
Shu looked up towards the source of the voice and saw an elderly man hovering in the air, watching them.
The two dragons, who had been particularly arrogant just moments ago, were taken aback upon hearing the old man's voice. They lowered their heads in shame at Shu's hands, remaining still and obedient, no longer moving at all.
Once wild and fierce, the two dragons now resembled worms in a muddy pit, dejected and defeated.
Yao Guang watched this scene in astonishment. If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never have believed that the once imposing dragons could become so docile in front of this mysterious old man.
Shu gazed at the suddenly appearing elder. His deep-set brown eyes were framed by a tangle of gray hair. Yet, his piercing gaze was sharp as an eagle's, as if he intended to swallow Shu whole. The old man's eyelids drooped slightly, exuding wisdom, while the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes bore witness to the passage of time. He was clearly a formidable character.
As Shu locked eyes with the old man, he could distinctly sense the profound magic emanating from him. It felt like an endless river; the aura radiating from this elder compelled Shu to regard him with utmost seriousness.
Unconsciously, Shu released his grip on the two Demon Dragons. Holding them was no longer meaningful; this old man was far more important.
"Are you two still not going to step back? Haven't you embarrassed yourselves enough?" The moment Shu let go of the Demon Dragons, a glint flashed in the old man's eyes as he scolded them.
Upon hearing his words, the already dejected Demon Dragons hurriedly swam out from Shu's hands, timidly transforming into human forms and kneeling before the elder.
Shu and Yao Guang exchanged incredulous glances at this sight. It was well known that dragons were noble beings who would never kneel before outsiders. Even when facing the Jade Emperor, they only bowed respectfully. Yet now, these once arrogant Demon Dragons displayed no signs of dissatisfaction; instead, they appeared genuinely remorseful after being reprimanded by this elder.
It seemed that this mysteriously appearing old man held significant power.
"Dragon Lord, we were wrong!" The two Demon Dragons knelt before him and confessed.
"Dragon Lord!" It was truly the Dragon Lord!
Even Shu did not expect that the seemingly unremarkable old man before him was the Dragon Lord.
Shu was taken aback. He had known for a long time that the Four Seas Dragon King was not the leader of the dragon clan. After their defeat in the past, the dragon clan had been relegated to the Four Seas by the Jade Emperor. He had always felt discontent about this, but at that time, the dragon clan did not resist. It was said that after three nights of discussions between the Dragon Lord and the Jade Emperor, it was concluded that the dragon clan would retreat to the Four Seas.
As for why such an agreement was reached, only the Dragon Lord and the Jade Emperor could explain!
This rumored emperor of the dragon clan had never shown himself to the world, dedicating his time to cultivation.
Even during the great battle of the Divine Demon Five Realms, this emperor did not appear like the rulers of the other four realms.
Instead, he sent out the Candle Dragon and Pterosaur to assist other realms. The spells possessed by Candle Dragon and Pterosaur were enough to make people from other realms envious. This indicated just how powerful the Dragon Lord's abilities were! Unfortunately, no one had ever seen this emperor in action, nor did anyone know just how formidable he truly was!
Shu never imagined that this legendary Dragon Lord would appear in the midst of the Dragon War.
"Step back!" The Dragon Lord said sternly to the two Demon Dragons.
The two Demon Dragons glared at Shu with resentment before retreating in defeat.
"I have not shown myself for many years, and I did not expect that upon my return I would encounter someone like you. It seems that young people are indeed formidable! The Jade Emperor is truly fortunate to have such a divine being like you in his court!" The Dragon Lord said with a kind smile, stroking his white beard as he addressed Shu.
Perhaps to others, this Dragon Lord appeared amiable. However, only Shu, who was speaking with him, understood. At that moment, Shu's veins were bulging, and he felt as if he might explode. While this Dragon Lord spoke to him with a smile, Shu could sense an overwhelming pressure bearing down on him.
"Big Brother, is he alright now?" Yao Guang asked with concern as he watched Shu's current state from below.
Ever since the old man appeared, Yao Guang could clearly sense that Shu had become tense.
Unlike before, when Shu had held back a bit, now he was fully mobilizing all his strength. The atmosphere around him was charged with a different kind of tension compared to earlier.
"This is the Dragon Lord!" Quan said solemnly. The Dragon Lord was akin to the Jade Emperor in the divine realm and the Buddha in the West. However, it was unclear what purpose this Dragon Lord had in appearing here.
Quan couldn't help but worry as he looked at Shu, who was at the center of the storm. The Dragon Lord had entered the battlefield and immediately rushed to rescue the two Demon Dragons in Shu's hands, which didn't seem like a good sign. Yet, judging by his demeanor, he didn't appear to want to be an enemy of Shu. So what was his true intention?
Shu stared nervously at the Dragon Lord before him. He knew that in the past, there had been agreements among the realms—Underworld, West, Four Seas, and the human world—that regardless of which realm it was, no emperor would intervene in wars between any realms. This was both a treaty and a means to protect the safety of each realm. If an Emperor were to act, it would unleash devastating power. For centuries, all realms had adhered strictly to this agreement, unwilling to disrupt the balance. Now that the Dragon Lord had appeared on this battlefield, what could be his purpose?
"Greetings, Dragon Lord!" Since he was indeed a Dragon Lord, Shu felt that he was somewhat subordinate to this Dragon Emperor. Thus, he bowed respectfully to the Dragon Lord.
"You are quite impressive. I haven't felt such spiritual energy from a deity in a long time!" The Dragon Lord smiled as he addressed Shu.
Hearing the Dragon Lord's praise, Shu showed no expression on his face; he simply stood up straight.
"However, your aura is quite familiar!" The Dragon Lord's keen sense of smell detected something about Shu's presence and seemed to recall something as he turned to Shu Xing Jun.
"Thank you for your kind words, Senior!" Shu replied with another respectful gesture.
"Hahaha! You are too humble! But your aura does remind me a bit of Father and Mother!" As soon as the Dragon Lord caught a whiff of Shu's essence, memories of Father and Mother from ancient times flooded back to him. How could this Star Lord before him carry their essence? Perhaps it had been so long since he last emerged that he had forgotten what Father and Mother smelled like!
The Dragon Emperor never expected that everything he had just guessed was correct! Shu and Yao Guang were indeed born of Father and Mother. Therefore, even after countless reincarnations, they still carried the essence of Father and Mother within them. Although the aura had weakened significantly after so many cycles, the power of Father and Mother remained strong, leaving a considerable force within Shu and the others.
Of course, the Dragon Lord did not think too much at this moment; he simply believed that Shu might have cultivated a technique inclined towards that of Father and Mother, which made him feel the aura resembling that of Father and Mother.
"Emperor, I am deeply honored; I am overwhelmed with fear!" Upon hearing the Dragon Lord mention the aura on him, Shu was taken aback. As expected of the Dragon Lord, no one had ever sensed the faint remnants of Father and Mother's essence on him after hiding for so many years.
Yet this seemingly elderly Emperor could discern his aura at a glance, demonstrating that the Dragon Emperor's magical prowess was something he could not contend with.
Now, Shu felt even more anxious. He wondered what the Dragon Lord felt when he saw his descendants fleeing in panic. He also questioned what business this Emperor had on the battlefield.
"May I ask what brings you to this battlefield, Emperor?" Even knowing that speaking up might offend this Emperor, Shu felt compelled to voice his inquiry. He needed clarity; if this Emperor was here to assist the dragon clan, then Shu would not hold back. Even if it meant standing alone, he would ensure this Emperor stayed here.
"I come when I wish and leave when I wish! How dare you, Star Lord, speak such nonsense!" After hearing Shu's words, the previously smiling Dragon Lord suddenly changed his expression and glared fiercely at Shu.
Seeing the look on this Emperor's face, Shu understood. It seemed that the dragon clan was indeed planning a rebellion, and it wasn't just the four dragon kings; even the Dragon Lord was involved in this uprising.
"Then I ask you to stay here, Dragon Lord!" Since a confrontation was inevitable, Shu spoke bluntly to the Dragon Lord.
"Good, you have spirit!" The Dragon Lord responded with a smile instead of anger as he looked at Shu. (To be continued.)
