"Big Brother, no!" The other six Star Lords cried out in anguish from below, and Yao Guang's vision blurred.

Even as Yao Guang and the other Star Lords desperately tried to stop Shu from burning his Starlight, how could they? His demise was a tragedy that had long been destined, unavoidable. Even if it wasn't now, it would happen at some point in the future; Shu had known his fate for a long time.
He never expected this moment to come so quickly, nor did he anticipate showing such a pitiful side of himself in front of Yao Guang, Kaiyang, Xuan, Quan, and Lian Zhen.
He couldn't bear to part with the Big Dipper Seventh Star, but for their sake, he was willing to do this. He had only wanted to leave quietly, but there was no way to do so. He hadn't anticipated that the Dragon Clan would summon the Dragon Lord. He never imagined that the power he once took pride in would seem insignificant before the Dragon Lord. He felt so small that he had no choice but to burn his own Starlight before them. He could only draw upon this final strength, self-destructing his Starlight to gain the ancient chaotic power.
Even if the result of this act meant that the Big Dipper Seventh Star would lose its leader and never be whole again, what did it matter?
The world was filled with too many disappointments and imperfections. Nothing was as he wished; yet this fate weighed heavily upon him—he could neither defy it nor escape it. If he could choose, who wouldn't want to live peacefully with their loved ones?
Since they couldn't all be together, for those he wanted to protect, he was willing to sacrifice his life for their safety.
It was just a pity that he would not witness the loving moments between Yao Guang and Xue, nor see how his younger siblings grew up. His dear siblings had always been under his protection; he had never allowed them to grow on their own. At this moment, Shu began to realize that perhaps doing everything for them wasn't necessarily a good thing! After he left like this, how would they manage in the court?
What would those high-ranking deities do to them after his departure? Initially, because of his presence—even though their status in the court was quite low—the Big Dipper Seventh Star commanded respect due to having the formidable Greedy Wolf Star Lord among them.
Thus, even the other six stars of the Big Dipper were not easily bullied by those deities. But now that he was leaving, would those who appeared noble yet harbored vile hearts become even more brazen in tormenting them?
As for himself, he had lived for a very long time. In truth, he didn't care when or how he would die. However, if he were to perish in this war against the Dragon Clan, perhaps even if he left his siblings behind, the Jade Emperor might treat them better for his contributions to the court!
Taking one last look at Yao Guang and the others, he truly felt reluctant to leave them! Even after so many years together, it felt as if it were just yesterday; he still hadn't spent enough time with them!
Shu closed his eyes, completely immersing himself in the golden light, opening his arms and every pore of his being.
“Cang Houtu above, please hear my wish. I am willing to sacrifice my chaotic life to gain the powers of Father and Mother, to extinguish the Primordial Spirit, ignite the Starlight. I do not seek immortality, nor do I desire spirits. I do not wish for a peaceful end; I only wish to offer my body as a vessel for my desires, even if it leads to my death, to repay the living! May my wishes be fulfilled, as sweet as rain, extinguish!”
As the last word "extinguish" left his lips, Shu felt the pain deep within his Primordial Spirit. His eyes shone with a dazzling light, as if all the Morning Stars had gathered within them. The color was more intense than sunlight and purer than gold. It felt as if he had returned to the beginning of chaos; everything around him had turned dark, leaving only his own radiance. The pain was like being sliced by a thousand blades, akin to the most extreme punishment unfolding upon him. He had never experienced such agony before; it felt as though all his bones were being shattered and reassembled.
Once all this pain subsided, Shu sensed an unprecedented surge of energy filling his body.
This energy seemed ready to overflow from his heart; his body could barely contain it. The power surged within him, crashing and colliding without any control from him. This immense force expanded his body to infinity, causing a sharp pain in his head.
This was the power of chaos! This was the power of Father and Mother! At this moment, all their strength belonged to Shu! He felt as if he had been reborn; his eyes suddenly opened, golden light flickering in his pupils. He gazed directly at the Dragon Lord before him, no longer filled with confusion or retreat but with unwavering determination.
Amidst the vast golden flames, Shu transformed into a rapid beam of light that shot toward the Dragon Lord. This beam was fierce and menacing, unlike any light emitted by ordinary celestial beings; it bore no signs of peace. It was like a sharp sword piercing through the heavens.
At this moment, Shu had nearly lost all consciousness. The only remnant of awareness in his mind was the desire to defeat the Dragon Lord before him.
“No, Shu, don’t!”
As the beam surged forward, Yao Guang felt her spirit follow Shu's lead.
Shu's burning was not merely consuming his own Starlight; it also absorbed what remained of the Starlight from several other Star Lords.
The Dragon Lord watched as Shu's burning beam rushed toward him and shouted, “Come on!”
Instead of feeling tense at such a massive beam of light, the Dragon Lord felt excitement and surprise.
He hadn’t expected that a Star Lord burning their own Starlight could wield such powerful strength. As this force approached him, joy surged within the Dragon Lord; it had been a long time since he faced such a formidable opponent. Finally, he could unleash his full potential.
Contrary to what one might expect, the Dragon Lord did not evade the beam of light; instead, he charged directly into it, colliding his formidable body with the radiant force.
Sparks flew and golden light erupted.
The impact shook the ground and caused the heavens to tremble. Even the Lingxiao Palace above the Ninth Heaven swayed slightly, appearing as if it might topple. Inside the Lingxiao Palace, a rare silence had fallen; the celestial beings who had been bustling and arguing had long since fled to safety.
In this now deserted Lingxiao Palace, the emptiness was even more pronounced. The Jade Emperor sat upon his throne, gazing down at the mortal realm through an illusion. When he saw the Starlight burning and crashing into the Dragon Lord, he let out a soft sigh, a hint of regret flickering in his eyes.
It was truly a pity to waste the power of the Big Dipper Seventh Star. However, if it were not for this, where would he place the Big Dipper Seventh Star once this war concluded?
As for the appearance of the Dragon Lord in this conflict, the Jade Emperor chuckled softly; perhaps even those divine beings around him were unaware of it!
The Dragon Lord had been in seclusion for millions of years and now suddenly emerged. What seemed like a casual occurrence was actually orchestrated by him, having stirred one of the dragons from the Dragon Clan to express their concerns at the entrance of the Dragon Lord's retreat about the impending Dragon War.
Given the Dragon Lord's fiery temper, he would inevitably be unable to contain himself and would emerge prematurely. That was precisely what the Jade Emperor desired.
On one hand, he aimed to compel the Dragon Lord to take action against any Star Lord within the Big Dipper Seventh Star, preventing them from gaining momentum and making it easier for him to maintain control in the future. On the other hand, there remained an agreement from years past that no Emperor could intervene in conflicts between realms.
Now that the Dragon Lord had broken this rule, it would not be long before those from the Underworld and mortals would also take action.
He was unwilling to let those from the Underworld remain passive observers. This war was not merely a conflict among dragons; it was about reopening new territories.
He knew that those from the Underworld had always preferred to watch from afar rather than participate in such wars. However, after centuries of change, things were no longer as they once were. The only way forward was to break old mandates and establish new ones to connect with fresh prospects.
Now he could sit back and enjoy this unfolding drama!
When all settled down, Yao Guang and others were astonished to discover that this strike had not inflicted significant damage on the Dragon Lord; he had only staggered back a few feet. The once brilliant scales on his body had dulled considerably.
However, upon observing him, it was clear that he had not sustained any serious injuries.
With a loud "snap," the Dragon Lord extended his claw and grasped the fragment of light that was Shū.
Within the Dragon Lord's claw, the light writhed in agony. "So this is all there is to it. I thought it would be much more impressive!"
The light struggled painfully within the Dragon Lord's grip, flickering and rolling.
"Let him go!"
Seeing Shū's Starlight in such torment within the Dragon Lord's claw, Yao Guang shouted from below.
It was important to note that although Shū had transformed his body into that beam of light, and his physical form was gone, his suffering still persisted. It had merely returned to its original chaotic state, back to the moment of their creation. Although Shū had lost all memories accumulated over countless years with them, it did not mean that this beam of light was not still Shū.
"You want me to let him go? Is that it?" The Dragon Lord heard Yao Guang's voice and tightened his grip on the beam of light even more.
Then they heard a piercing roar emanating from the light.
"You!" The other Star Lords felt a surge of fury upon witnessing how Shū's Starlight was being treated. It was as if what the Dragon Lord held in his hand was a part of themselves. (To be continued.)
