“Like a person?” Qin Hai paused for a moment, then shook his head. “That person was quite bulky; I don’t have much of an impression.”
I replied, “Think about it. If it were Wei Qiang, and his body had been submerged in the water for some time, wouldn’t it look like this?”
Qin Hai had been involved in the case regarding Wei Qiang's death, so he certainly knew what Wei Qiang looked like. Hearing my words, Qin Hai hissed slightly and then said, “Now that you mention it, I really do think so! If it is Wei Qiang... What the hell! How are we supposed to handle this kind of case?”
I felt a bit anxious as well. “Hai Ge, from the surveillance footage, Wei Qiang came out of the women’s restroom. Let’s check there first. And if it really is him, I’m afraid both Liu Yiyi and I will be targeted.”
“You? Why would he come after you?” Qin Hai looked at me curiously.
“I…” I opened my mouth but suddenly remembered that I couldn’t let anyone know about how I had used a ghost to kill Wei Qiang. If that got out, I would be finished. I quickly changed my story: “The engagement between Wei Qiang and Liu Yiyi actually fell apart because of me. Think about it—if I hadn’t been able to see Wang Shao’s ghost, Liu Yiyi and Wei Qiang might have already gotten married by now.”
Qin Hai nodded. “Alright, let’s move quickly. Also, you need to be careful with Liu Yiyi; he will definitely come after you both.”
Qin Hai instructed an Auxiliary Police officer to stay in the monitoring room and began reviewing the footage to see when the murderer entered the women’s restroom. He then walked with me toward the women’s restroom on the third floor.
Upon entering the restroom, a chilling sensation enveloped me.
I looked around and my gaze fell on a drain. The drain emitted a foul odor, but next to it was a patch of water that was nearly dried up—a relatively clear water stain.
“Hai Ge, can you see those water marks?” I pointed at the drain and asked.
Qin Hai examined it closely and shook his head. “No.”
I took a deep breath and said, “That’s right; these water stains are from Wei Qiang. He came in through here.”
"Here? This passage... seems a bit tight." Qin Hai thought it was strange; the sewer entrance could barely allow a baby to pass through, and Wei Qiang's massive frame clearly wouldn't fit.
I was also puzzled. "We can't rely on common sense right now. No, I need to go back. I don't know what kind of grudge Wei Qiang has against this nurse, but I have a feeling he will definitely come after me and Liu Yiyi. I should head back."
With that, I waved my hand and ran towards the dormitory with my backpack. On the way, I called Liu Yiyi, but her phone was already off; she must be asleep.
I felt a bit anxious.
When I arrived at the dorm, Yang Gou Dan and Chi Xiang were sitting together, munching on Spicy Strips while playing League of Legends.
Seeing me, Chi Xiang controlled Sword Princess to unleash her ultimate move and said, "Hey, you're back! We haven't seen you for two nights; I thought I was going to die from missing you."
I walked over and abruptly shut their computers. "Come on, pack your things; we're leaving right now."
Yang Gou Dan jumped in surprise. "Song Fei, what are you doing? I'm about to get my god gear! Just a minute more and I'll take down their crystal tower."
"Forget about that! Go help me protect someone," I insisted.
"I'm not going! Buddha, as a proud disciple of the Buddhist sect and a once-in-a-thousand-years talent, how can I stoop to being a bodyguard? Hurry up; I want to play!" Yang Gou Dan continued munching on Spicy Strips.
"No way, come with me! You can still play when we get there," I tried to coax him.
Yang Gou Dan still refused.
"Go protect Liu Yiyi; she's in danger. Are you going or not?"
"Yang Gou Dan" still wanted to refuse, but "Chi Xiang" grabbed him by the neck and said, "Come on, let's take the computer and go protect "Liu Yiyi." "Dog Egg," we can continue playing over there. Let's go!" As soon as "Chi Xiang" heard it was about protecting "Liu Yiyi," he immediately stood by my side.
I looked at "Yang Gou Dan," who was holding my computer and a bag of "Spicy Strips," feeling a bit helpless. This kid was still too young, not even ten years old, completely unable to understand the hardships of the world.
"Chi Xiang" was pumped up like he had just received a shot of adrenaline. "Song Fei, you're my brother! Let's go have a secret meeting with 'Liu Yiyi.'"
"A secret meeting? Are you kidding me? Let me tell you, this ghost is really fierce. If anything happens to you, it's not my fault," I replied.
Upon hearing this, "Chi Xiang" looked a bit scared. "Why does it have to be about catching ghosts? This is so unlucky."
"Yang Gou Dan" stood at the dormitory door impatiently. "Are we going or not? Time is life; can we afford to waste it?"
With that, "Chi Xiang" and I grabbed our things.
The three of us headed towards the house rented by "Liu Yiyi."
When we arrived in front of her house, I knocked on the door vigorously, worried that something might have happened to her. However, it turned out I was overthinking; "Liu Yiyi" was sleeping soundly. She got up in her pajamas and opened the door. Seeing our frantic state, she paused for a moment, rubbed her eyes, and asked, "Song Fei, what are you guys doing?"
"Come inside. By the way, can your room fit all three of us?" I asked.
"You can sleep on the sofa," "Liu Yiyi" replied.
Once we entered the room, "Yang Gou Dan" clutched his stomach and said, "Oh no, I need to use the bathroom; I've got an upset stomach from eating too much."
I kicked him lightly. This kid loved eating "Spicy Strips," yet he always ended up with a stomachache.
Chi Xiang was circling around Liu Yiyi like a lovesick fool.
I said, "Liu Yiyi, Wei Qiang's body has been found!"
"Huh?" Liu Yiyi paused, rubbing her eyes. "That's good, right?"
"Not exactly." I shook my head. "He was found in the hospital. He... he’s alive again and has killed someone. I think both you and I are in danger, which is why I called them over."
Upon hearing this, Liu Yiyi's face turned pale. She nodded, "I understand."
"Yeah, try not to..." I started to warn Liu Yiyi not to go near the sewer, but then I thought that might scare her even more. "Never mind, once we get through tonight, it will be fine by morning."
Liu Yiyi yawned. "Thank you, Song Fei. With you here, I feel at ease. You all can use the room as you like; I need to get some sleep now. I have two important meetings tomorrow."
I nodded.
Chi Xiang continued to hover around Liu Yiyi. "Yiyi, you should thank me too; I'm here to protect you."
Liu Yiyi simply smiled and ignored Chi Xiang as she went into her room.
I kicked Chi Xiang playfully on the backside and laughed, "Don't get any ideas. Liu Yiyi is in her pajamas now, so you can't really see her. If you saw her at work, I bet you wouldn't dare tease her like this. Right now, Liu Yiyi is not just a college student; she's a cold and elegant goddess CEO."
Chi Xiang sighed. He knew that although he was considered a rich second generation, he was still far behind someone like Liu Yiyi from a prestigious family.
Yang Gou Dan came out of the bathroom and pulled Chi Xiang to play video games.
I saw the situation with Yang Gou Dan and felt a bit worried. If this continues, will Yang Gou Dan become useless, completely absorbed in games? However, I thought I shouldn't worry too much; after all, Yang Gou Dan is only ten years old. At that age, it's natural to want to play, and there's no need to push him too hard.
Sitting on the sofa, I pondered over Yang Gou Dan's situation and then thought about Wei Qiang. The image of Wei Qiang sent chills down my spine.
I began to recall Wei Qiang's death. After he died, there was that eerie Catfish, a truckload of dead Catfish floating white on the water, along with that enormous ghostly figure and the three deceased fishermen. Everything seemed far from simple.
As I continued to think, I eventually fell asleep.
With a creak, the bedroom door opened.
I opened my eyes and saw Liu Yiyi squinting as she walked toward the bathroom. "Are you going to the restroom?" I asked. Liu Yiyi nodded. I glanced over at Yang Gou Dan and Chi Xiang, who were sitting motionless in front of the computer, like monks in meditation.
I found it strange that these two weren't playing games. What were they doing?
I walked over and was about to ask when suddenly Liu Yiyi let out a shriek from the bathroom.
Worried about Liu Yiyi, I rushed over in two steps and pushed open the bathroom door.
Inside, Liu Yiyi was taking a shower. I thought to myself, why are you showering at this hour? Does a goddess need to shower every time she uses the restroom?
While I was still puzzled, Liu Yiyi leaped into my arms, pointing at the toilet. "Song Fei, there's a ghost! I'm so scared."
I held Liu Yiyi's pale figure tightly. "Don't be afraid; I'm here." I looked at the toilet but saw nothing.
Liu Yiyi clung to me tightly, and then my hands began to wander.
Liu Yiyi blushed and told me not to move, but she was wearing nothing at all. How could I possibly stay still?
I looked at Liu Yiyi's chest and remarked, "You’re quite well-endowed."
Liu Yiyi replied, "I want them to be even bigger."
"That's easy enough; I can just give you a massage," I said.
Liu Yiyi laughed lightly and called me a rogue.
Just as we were about to take things further, suddenly, a hand emerged from the toilet. That hand grabbed my backside fiercely. I turned around in terror and saw Wei Qiang's pale face, his eyes filled with hatred.
Wei Qiang ominously said, "Song Fei, you deserve to die... you deserve to die..." His fingers pulled me toward the toilet.
I struggled desperately, worried that this bastard Wei Qiang might seriously injure me. The water in the toilet engulfed my face, making it impossible for me to breathe as I fought against it...
Suddenly, I jolted awake. Looking around, I realized it had all been a dream.
Standing beside me was someone who was touching my backside. I flipped over and saw Liu Yiyi standing there.
"Liu Yiyi? What are you doing?" I asked.
Liu Yiyi blushed again and said, "You sat on my car keys!"
I chuckled, "Here I am dreaming that someone is touching my backside."
Liu Yiyi smiled, "I have to go to work now. You all stay here. I've ordered four breakfasts, and they're on the table. You can eat them later."
I nodded.
Liu Yiyi grabbed her car keys and hurried off to work. I turned to see Yang Gou Dan and Chi Xiang sprawled on the table, fast asleep, probably because they had stayed up too late playing games.
I didn't wake them and ate alone.
While I was eating, my phone rang. I answered it, and Qin Hai's voice came through, "Hey, Song Fei, are you and Liu Yiyi okay?"
"Yeah, everything's fine," I replied while munching on a fried dough stick.
"Good, but things aren't so great on my end. Last night, two more nurses were murdered. If you have time, could you come by the police station?"
