The chieftain was taken aback when he saw me emerge from behind the door. He instinctively glanced at the cup of water, which remained untouched. Furrowing his brow, he then smiled and said, "Why hasn't our guest had any water? Is our Miao people's Azure Green Tea not to your taste, Han people?"
I waved my hand dismissively. "I'm not thirsty, Chieftain. We have some matters to discuss and would like to ask you about my two friends."
"Oh. I haven't gathered any news yet, but my mother often chats with the villagers; she should know. Follow me, and we can ask her," the chieftain replied as he led me toward the back room.
At that moment, I was certain—there was no mother there, only a Giant Python.
Without hesitation, I grabbed a teacup from the table and smashed it over the chieftain's head!

The cup shattered against his skull, leaving a gash on his head.
With a thud, the chieftain collapsed to the ground.
I picked up a nearby object and dashed toward the door. Kicking it hard, I sent it crashing down.
The two men standing at the entrance were still in shock. Without saying a word, I swung the object and struck one of them on the head.
With a loud thud, he fell to the ground, his head tilted at an odd angle. It was unclear whether he was dead or alive, but there was no blood flowing from his wound.
I didn’t have time to ponder this; I kicked the other man in the stomach, knocking him down as well. Then Liu Yiyi and I bolted out of the door.
Once outside, the village felt eerily silent.
We raced down the path we had come from. To be honest, at that moment, I couldn’t care less about finding anyone—Zhao Yin or Stone Cheng—I was too overwhelmed by the strangeness of this village. Just that Giant Python alone sent chills down my spine.
Liu Yiyi and I ran along the path back to safety.
As I reached the corner, I was surprised to see the woman who had been dancing earlier still there. She was dancing while clutching her stomach, struggling with a look of agony on her face.
I glanced at her.
With a sudden scream, the woman collapsed to the ground, and beneath her, a pool of water mixed with blood began to spread.
"Oh no, her water broke. Wait, it seems like she's having a difficult labor," I exclaimed in shock, turning to Liu Yiyi.
"Is there still hope?" Liu Yiyi asked.
"I'll go check," I said, rushing over and bending down to help the woman.
She continued to writhe on the ground, and then more fluid gushed out from beneath her. Suddenly, a fleshy egg emerged from her.
I froze for a moment. What was happening? How was she giving birth to a Meat Egg? Was she delivering Nezha?
Both Liu Yiyi and I were stunned.
At that moment, the Meat Egg began to shake violently, while the woman continued to hold her belly. More and more Meat Eggs started to emerge from her.
Soon, over ten of these eggs had appeared, all shaking. With a loud thud, one of the eggs cracked open, and out jumped a slender black snake. The snake flicked its tongue and quickly slithered toward Liu Yiyi.

I lifted my foot and stomped down on the snake.
"Yikes!"
The snake let out a pained cry before transforming into a puddle of black liquid.
At that moment, more Meat Eggs began to crack open.
My heart raced as I grabbed Liu Yiyi and ran toward the corner.
"Hey!"
A shout came from behind us.
I turned to look and stopped in my tracks. "It's Stone Cheng and his employee."
"Ah?" Liu Yiyi also glanced back.
Indeed, it was Stone Cheng and his employee, both waving at us and urging us to come over.
I hesitated for a moment. What if we ran into that village chief? Plus, there was a large snake kept in the Village Head's House.
I shouted to Stone Cheng, "Hurry up, come here! Let's get out of the village first!"
Stone Cheng remained where he was, still waving at us with an urgent expression, as if he wanted to tell us something important.
I felt puzzled and even more hesitant. Just then, someone dashed out from the corner, heading straight for me and Liu Yiyi.
The person looked ragged, with messy hair. I squinted and realized it was that crazy guy from before. I never expected him to suddenly charge at us again.
I lifted my foot to kick at the lunatic.
However, this time he sidestepped my kick and lunged forward, grabbing my chest with both hands. Thankfully, he targeted me instead of Liu Yiyi. If he had grabbed her like that, I would have been done for.
Seeing that the madman had a hold on me, I quickly executed a throw.
As I lifted the madman to my waist, he suddenly whispered, "Don't go over there. Those two have already been controlled. Follow me and run..."
"What?" I was taken aback.

"Go!" Liu Yiyi made her decision before I did. She grabbed my hand and chased after the madman.
I didn't know why Liu Yiyi would heed the madman's words, but I knew she was a very intelligent woman. She rarely made decisions, and if she did, it was likely the right one—something she had already confirmed.
Together, Liu Yiyi and I followed the madman.
He reached the village entrance but didn’t take the path we had come from; instead, he ran down another road.
I hesitated for a moment when suddenly a few brightly colored triangular snakes came slithering after us. These snakes weren't particularly thick, but their colors indicated they were highly venomous. Liu Yiyi and I dared not hesitate any longer; we followed the madman down a slanted path leading away from the village.
The weeds along the way were thick, making it hard to see any footprints, and there were thorny bushes that scraped against my legs painfully.
The snakes behind us pursued relentlessly, and Big White seemed terrified as well. Liu Yiyi's palms were sweaty. Honestly, if it weren't for the madman leading us, we would probably be even more panicked right now.
The madman hopped through the jungle, moving quickly.
Ahead was a hillside, and the madman picked up speed. Liu Yiyi was running up, but being a woman, her stamina was somewhat lacking. I gave her a gentle push from behind.
We climbed towards the Mountain, and it seemed that the snakes behind us had slowed down.
I paused for a moment, but there was no time to think about anything else. We continued upward. There was a slope above us, and the madman turned around to wave at us before we made our way over.
A strong smell of Sulfur wafted through the air.
I hesitated for a moment, then it dawned on me why the snakes had slowed down; it turned out there was a Sulfur Mine here! Snakes are creatures of the shadows, preferring cool places, and what they fear most is Realgar! This place not only had Realgar but was essentially a Sulfur mine! The intense smell of Sulfur was overwhelming even for me, let alone for those snakes behind us.
Ahead was a Puddle bubbling with steam; it was a hot spring. Many hot springs are warm because of the underlying Sulfur Mines.
Sulfur is actually a traditional Chinese medicine, but it requires caution since it is toxic. In small doses, it can enhance vitality, kill pests, and treat certain cold-related illnesses. Externally, it can be used to treat skin diseases. Moreover, burning it and using the smoke can effectively treat Hemorrhoids.
In summary, while large amounts can be deadly, small doses can be quite beneficial.
We moved inside.
The madman sighed in relief and slowed down. He circled around the hot spring and entered a cave.
Inside the cave were pots and pans; it turned out to be a room.
The madman said, "Alright, it's safe here."
Liu Yiyi and I stared at him in astonishment. At that moment, I realized why he had suddenly appeared. Earlier that morning, we were heading to the village chief's house when this madman had suddenly jumped out. I initially thought he meant harm, but now I understood he wanted to prevent us from going to the chief's house because he knew it was dangerous there.
This time, the madman had shown up again to lead us here. If we had taken the same route towards the village outside, we would have been caught by the swarm of snakes in no time! Snakes may not have legs, but they are incredibly fast when they move in a straight line.
"What exactly... is going on? Who are you?" I stared at the madman.
He chuckled lightly, running his fingers through his messy hair, revealing a face twisted in a bitter smile. "Retribution."
"Retribution? What retribution?" I asked. "What happened to our four companions?"
The madman shook his head. "Aside from you two, I've only seen two outsiders—the ones you just encountered. I haven't seen the other two. As you can see, this place, Village, has completely turned into Snake Village!"
"Snake Village?"
"Yes, Snake Village!" He smiled again, tinged with desolation. "Damn it, Snake Village! The men in Village have all become snakes."
"That's not true." I was taken aback. "There are still many men here, right? The chieftain is still human."
The madman shook his head. "You outsiders don't understand. Once a snake becomes a spirit, it can cast its own curses. Do you know what Gu Master fears the most?"
