A Cai only smiled slightly. Although he could smile, upon closer inspection, it was a bit strange—only part of his facial muscles moved while the other part remained still.
I raised my hands and walked over to A Cai.
Behind A Cai, Buzz Cut wore an expressionless face. He reached out and restrained my hands, then the three of them pushed me forward as we headed outside.
A black SUV was parked outside. Buzz Cut lifted me up and placed me in the back seat. A Cai got in the driver's seat and drove us out of the city.
My heart grew colder; this time, there was no Su Mingyue to save me. It seemed I had no hope of escape.
I looked at the three of them; this was a rare opportunity for communication. I felt I had to clarify their intentions and background.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked.
The three remained silent.

The vehicle drove into a mountainous area until it could go no further. Then, Buzz Cut pulled me out of the car, holding onto the rope in his hand as he strode forward.

They moved quickly, ignoring the thorns scattered on the ground. For me, it was a painful experience; I had come dressed in thin summer clothes, and now those thorns scraped against my skin, causing blood to flow freely.
I gritted my teeth and struggled to keep up with the three of them.
As we descended a slope, I hesitated slightly at a ditch ahead. In that moment, the rope on my hands was yanked hard, and I fell to the ground.
A Cai and the others seemed oblivious to my plight as they continued walking briskly, dragging me down the hillside by the rope.
It felt like being dragged by a horse.
I clenched my jaw and rolled forward suddenly, getting back on my feet. It dawned on me that those three had no regard for whether I lived or died. To them, a living me and a dead me held the same significance!
What on earth are they planning to do?
I followed closely behind them, running as fast as I could.
We ran for an entire afternoon, and ahead lay a continuous range of mountains. A Cai and the others were climbing quickly, forcing me to exert all my strength to keep up.
The soil of the mountains was sticky; it had just rained heavily, and many places in Hubei were flooded. The mountain soil was loose and soft, and stepping into it felt like sinking into a marsh.
I was panting heavily when finally, in the evening, A Cai and the others slowed down a bit.
Standing on a hillside, A Cai let out two howls towards the valley below. To my astonishment, pairs of eerie green eyes began to appear in the valley.
There were at least a thousand pairs of eyes!
These eyes started to crawl up the hillside.
I swallowed hard, watching as someone dressed in a Japanese military uniform climbed up from below. Soon, more people followed, all wearing various types of clothing. Some had knives stuck in their chests, and their eyes glinted like those of venomous snakes as they quickly ascended from the valley.
As I looked at these figures, it suddenly dawned on me that they were all from that ancient tomb. Somehow, they had crawled out from within it, and A Cai was summoning them.
Before long, these long-dead individuals surrounded me. Then A Cai continued dragging me forward.
Surrounded by thousands of people who had been dead for decades or even centuries, I felt a wave of panic wash over me. Yet deep down, I understood that they were all manifestations of Yin Yao; they were essentially the same type of being. However, the Yin Yao pretending to be A Cai was evidently much smarter—it could control A Cai's thoughts and speech while the others acted merely like zombies.
I struggled to keep up behind them, and this walk stretched into the entire night, leaving me utterly exhausted.
I estimated that we had already walked out of Hubei Province along this mountain range.
Ahead lay a stretch of yellow earth, suggesting we had reached Shaanxi.
The sun rose, and by this time, I was both tired and hungry, my head spinning. Looking around, I noticed many people’s bodies had begun to decay, emitting a foul odor. Flesh was falling off them in chunks, and many had transformed into the appearance of Yin Yao.
Their turtle-like heads and snake-like bodies covered in scales were repulsive, resembling a large snail without a shell.
As I continued walking, I stumbled and fell to the ground.
However, no one paid me any mind; no one even glanced my way. They simply kept moving forward as if they were heading to a market.

Thirsty and hungry, utterly fatigued, I didn’t know how much longer I could hold on.
With a sigh, I decided to just let myself be dragged along.

However, thousands of years have passed. The desert that once was has now turned into yellow earth, with wind and sand carrying soil, transforming it into what it is today.
Why did these Yin Yao bring me here? What do they want?
