I quickly tossed the Wooden Zen Staff under the car and walked over. "Sir, we are from the Criminal Police Team. Here is my badge." I pulled out my Auxiliary Police Certificate and showed it to the Shepherd. 0

The old man glanced at me and then at my certificate. "You’re an Auxiliary Police? Are you trying to take advantage of an old man who can't read?" 0

I smiled awkwardly. "Sir, it's precisely because I'm an Auxiliary Police that I have it tough. By the way, you know Ma Xiang, right?" 0

"Of course I know him; I'm his distant relative," the old man replied, holding his whip and looking towards the grave. He frowned slightly. "What’s going on here? Did you blow up a grave?" 0

I quickly responded, "Of course not! It's just that something happened. The police sent me, an Auxiliary Police, to check the cemetery. This kind of tough job always falls on us. However, while I was inspecting the area, I noticed that a tower seemed to have collapsed, which is why this place has sunk in. Sir, do you know anything about that tower?" 0

Upon hearing this, the old man's brow furrowed. "Oh dear, that tower collapsed? I hope nothing serious happens." 0

"You know something? Please tell me," I urged, handing him a cigarette and then deciding to give him an entire box of Red Nanjing. 0

The old man accepted the cigarette and his mood brightened. "Ah, that tower? That’s been a story from hundreds of years ago. My great-great-grandfather saw it. It was over five hundred years ago when our area was troubled by a Water Demon. They say that Water Demon was a Turtle Spirit that had turned into a monster, often crawling up to the riverbank to eat people. A Master from Jinshan Temple intervened and subdued that Turtle Spirit! However, since its shell was too hard, the Master couldn't completely exorcise it. So, they built a Pagoda where the Master personally sealed the Turtle Spirit inside. They placed seals on the outside of the Pagoda that would take five hundred years to completely seal off that Turtle Spirit!" 0

Listening to the old man’s words made me believe him somewhat. 0

He continued, "The Demon Suppression Tower used to be built halfway up the hill. Villagers nearby would occasionally offer incense to the Master inside the tower. Then one year during my great-great-grandfather's time, there was suddenly heavy rain and a landslide occurred. After the rain stopped, the Demon Suppression Tower was buried by mudslides, and no one knew where the Pagoda went. But by then, there were no more troubles from the Turtle Spirit, so no one thought about these things anymore. If it weren't for you mentioning a tower today, I would have forgotten this story." 0

I chuckled at what he said. "Ah, sir, you tell stories so well! But I did see that tower had indeed collapsed; if the Turtle Spirit inside escapes, it could cause trouble." 0

The Shepherd tucked the cigarette into his pocket and chuckled lightly. "Kid, what trouble could there be? I think it's just a legend; after all these years, even the mightiest monster must have kicked the bucket." With that, he drove his flock away. 0

I returned to my car and got in with a serious expression on my face. 0

The Shepherd felt at ease, but I was anything but calm. I knew all too well that the Turtle Spirit had indeed escaped! It was the one that had consumed the Essence of a Construction Worker and Ada, and it was its malevolent energy that had turned the wronged Ma Xiang into a White-haired Zombie! 0

The key issue was that I still had no idea where that Turtle Spirit had gone! 0

Ada, sitting in the passenger seat, noticed my grim expression and asked, "Brother Song, what's wrong?" 0

"The monster has gotten out, that's for sure. If we can't catch it in a short time, I estimate we'll be in big trouble later! It has survived five hundred years without being killed; damn, it must be incredibly powerful! Why did Ma Xiang have to bury him in that spot? Now that the seal has been broken and the demon has escaped—what the hell! The worst part is we can't even find out where it went!" I said, feeling anxious. 0

Ada replied, "Brother Song, you don't really believe that old man's words, do you?" 0

I shot him a glare. "Of course! If what he said wasn't true, how would you have lost your Essence?" 0

Ada paused for a moment and nodded. "Then, Brother Song, could it be that the Turtle Spirit crawled away to a nearby Mountain?" 0

I shook my head. "No way. After five hundred years, its physical form must be long gone; it's probably just a wisp of soul now. Unless it's attached to something or someone, it can't go anywhere... What the hell! Ada, that suit! Damn it, it must be that suit!" 0

"What?" Ada asked. "Brother Song, didn't you burn that suit?" 0

"Yes, I did burn it, but when I did, one button was missing. Lin Xia and I thought we lost it ourselves; now it seems that's not the case! Damn it, the Turtle Spirit's soul must be on that button!" Suddenly enlightened, I started the car and sped back. 0

Upon arriving at the Zhenjiang County Bureau, I called Qin Hai. 0

Qin Hai quickly answered with a cheerful tone. "Hey, Master Song! Where are you? The leaders at the police station are eager to see you; after cracking such a big case, they definitely want to give you some credit." 0

I brushed off his comments. "Forget about that; something big has happened. Are you and Brother Chen still there?" 0

"No, Captain Chen went back to Donghai City last night. I'm the only one left here, arguing with their bureau leaders," Qin Hai said quietly. 0

I replied, "Alright, I'll meet you at the bureau." 0

After hanging up the phone, I stopped my car at an intersection and said to Ada, "Okay, I need to head back now. You can go home by yourself." 0

Ada nodded and said, "Brother Song, I will remember your kindness. When you catch that Turtle Spirit, make sure to be careful." 0

I nodded in response, not in the mood for small talk. I just reminded Ada that she needed to take Placenta for three consecutive months before heading towards the County Bureau. 0

Upon entering the County Bureau, I found Qin Hai. Two plump-looking leaders were chatting with him, and the three of them seemed to be enjoying themselves. 0

As I walked in, Qin Hai immediately stood up and said, "Song Fei, come over. This is Director Niu from the Public Security Bureau of Zhenjiang, and this is Director Liu. These two are bureau heads, and this is my master, Song Fei." 0

The two directors reached out to shake my hand. I had something on my mind and didn't give them much of a smile. I simply said, "It's getting late; I need to head back to Donghai City. There's still some business to attend to." 0

Qin Hai added, "That's fine then. Directors, we'll take our leave. I'm just catching a ride back with Master Song Fei." 0

The two directors waved their hands dismissively. 0

Qin Hai and I walked out of the County Bureau together. 0

Qin Hai kept smiling. 0

I found it strange; there was nothing good about that smile. I asked him, "Come on, Qin Hai, what's going on? You're smiling like that; it can't be anything good." 0

Qin Hai wrapped his arm around my neck and said, "Song Fei, you don't understand. You haven't even left the school gate yet. Do you know how hard it is to get on good terms with two department heads? Oh, by the way, here's your Bonus." With that, Qin Hai pulled out a stack of red bills and stuffed them into my hand. 0

I took a look and saw it was only ten thousand yuan. "What the hell! This is so stingy! For such a powerful Zombie, just ten thousand? I risked my life for two Talismans, and each Talisman costs ten thousand!" 0

Qin Hai just chuckled. 0

I wasn't laughing. While driving, I explained, "Here's the thing: those four workers turning into Corpses wasn't caused by Ma Xiang. In fact, Ma Xiang's body was also a victim. Beneath Ma Xiang's grave, there was actually a monster sealed away..." 0

As I drove, I recounted the situation with the Turtle Spirit to Qin Hai. 0

After listening, Qin Hai turned to me with a blank stare. "What are you talking about, Song Fei? Don't scare me like this—you're saying there's a monster that has been sealed for five hundred years?" 0

I replied, "I don't know exactly how many years; we'd need to check the local county records at Jinshan Temple to find out when that Demon Suppression Tower was built. But no matter how many years it's been, that monster is incredibly powerful. If given enough time, it could drain the life out of everyone in Donghai City. At that point, Donghai City would truly become a ghost town. The longer we wait, the harder it will be to deal with that monster." 0

Qin Hai thought for a moment and asked, "What are your thoughts now?" 0

I said, "I need to go back and discuss this with Yang Gou Dan. I can handle ordinary monsters, but if it's a high-level demon like this one, I have no confidence at all." 0

Qin Hai replied, "Alright, I'll talk to Captain Chen about this. If you need anything, just let me know directly." 0

I nodded. 0

The car sped up to one hundred fifty as I drove. Two hours later, we had returned to Donghai City. 0

Once in Donghai City, I didn't head straight to Lin Xia's house. Although I suspected that the Turtle Spirit might be at Lin Xia's place, a five-hundred-year-old monster would undoubtedly possess high intelligence. If I went there and startled it, that would be troublesome. 0

I entered the dormitory with my bag slung over my shoulder, holding the Zen Staff. 0

Inside, Yang Gou Dan was indeed engrossed in a game. 0

I walked over and abruptly shut down Yang Gou Dan's computer. 0

He was taken aback for a moment, then shouted at me, "Damn it, Song Fei, are you going crazy as soon as you arrive?" 0

I tapped Yang Gou Dan on the head. "Dog Egg, something big has happened. Damn it, a monster that has been suppressed for five hundred years has escaped from Zhenjiang, and now that monster is right here in Donghai City." 0

Yang Gou Dan paused, then angrily replied, "What does a monster have to do with me? You shut down my computer just because a monster showed up? I'm about to gear up, damn it." 0

I ignored Yang Gou Dan's protests. "Dog Egg, this isn't just any issue; we need to figure out a solution." 0

Yang Gou Dan was about to continue complaining when suddenly his eyes widened. He stared at the Zen Staff in my hand and exclaimed in surprise, "What the hell! Song Fei, did you go steal their temple treasure from Jinshan Temple? You're impressive! I didn't know you had it in you!" 0
