I frowned and immediately took out the Azure Thunder Staff. Glancing at it, I walked toward the back of the house. As I approached one side, I noticed a window was open. Peering inside, the room appeared dark and eerie. 0

The place was in disarray, clearly having been ransacked! 0

"Damn it, I'm late!" I realized the situation was dire. I couldn't care less about laws at this point. I jumped up and landed directly inside Old Peter's house. 0

"Creak!" 0

The floorboards emitted an unpleasant creaking sound. 0

Startled, I looked down; the floor was made of very old wood, so I had to tread lightly. 0

"Bang!" 0

A gunshot rang out! 0

And it was from a silenced pistol! 0

It came from a room inside. 0

I froze for a moment, then rolled on the ground toward the source of the gunfire. That room must be the bedroom. 0

I moved quickly; the entire house felt chaotic. The closer I got to that room, the more I sensed a deep Ghostly Energy and the stench of decay! 0

British Ghost! British Zombie! 0

What the hell am I supposed to do? I had no idea if the Azure Cloud Taoist's Fire Thunder Talisman would still work! But there was no time to worry about that! If necessary, I'd just expend a bit of my Witch Power. 0

I arrived at the door of the bedroom, and the door was closed. I pushed it open forcefully. 0

Inside the room stood a bearded British old man. He was there, with more than half of his head rotting away, and his eye sockets were already infested with maggots, now emitting smoke, likely shot by someone. 0

The old man suddenly turned around and looked at me, then charged at me like a wild beast. 0

I grabbed the Corpse-Subduing Bell and shook it. 0

Ding buzz... ding buzz... ding buzz... 0

The soul-chilling sound was quite unpleasant, but it worked well; as soon as this British zombie heard the sound of the Corpse-Subduing Bell, its movements slowed down significantly. 0

I picked up the Azure Thunder Staff and struck him with it. A cloud of black smoke erupted from his body as he fell into the corner by the wall. The Azure Thunder Staff was far more powerful than peach wood in terms of restraining abilities; with just one hit, I nearly knocked the British man out cold. No wonder even Yang Gou Dan was envious of this staff. 0

I took out a Corpse Fixing Talisman and stuck it on the zombie. I didn’t kill him right away because I might discover something from him. 0

“Gurgle... gurgle...” 0

A muffled sound came from the nearby freezer. 0

I immediately walked over to the freezer and pulled open the wardrobe. This freezer had been there for who knows how many years; as I pulled it, the entire kitchen collapsed with a loud crash, shattering into pieces, revealing a woman inside. 0

It was none other than Mona, who had chased away the thugs! 0

At that moment, Mona's hair was disheveled, and her hands were clutching her neck. Her eyes had rolled back, showing only whites. 0

I realized that Mona was possessed by a ghost. I raised the Azure Thunder Staff and swung it at her backside. With a loud bang, the force of the staff struck her, producing a shriek as an old woman emerged from Mona's body. 0

The impact was quite strong, and coupled with Mona's resilient physique, my hand trembled slightly from the force. 0

Mona was gasping for breath, looking at me and then glancing at the old Zombie I had pinned in the corner. She was startled and quickly turned to find her handgun. 0

Without thinking much, I swung the Azure Thunder Staff and hurled it towards the old woman. 0

"Crack!" 0

It was as if lightning had struck; the old woman was instantly killed, turning into a wisp of black smoke. 0

I hurried forward to absorb the old woman's Demonic Power. She was too weak, and there wasn't much Demonic Power to take. 0

In an instant, I finished absorbing it, and then the old woman transformed into green smoke and vanished. 0

Behind me, I heard Mona's surprised voice. 0

I turned to look at her. Mona's blouse was unbuttoned, revealing a patch of white skin. I noticed that British sizes were quite generous. 0

Mona seemed oblivious to my gaze; she looked at me in astonishment. "China... Daoist Arts?" 0

"You know quite a bit," I admitted without further explanation, nodding at her. Fortunately, Mona spoke slowly enough for me, a novice in English, to understand. 0

"Oh, thank you, Chinese Taoist." Mona got up from the ground and instinctively rubbed her backside. "It hurts so much; it's all swollen. You really hit hard." 0

"Uh..." I felt a bit uncomfortable seeing Mona touch her backside and quickly turned away. 0

Suddenly, Mona burst into laughter, her laughter ringing clear. 0

"What are you laughing about?" I asked, puzzled. 0

Mona coughed twice and waved her hand dismissively. "What should we do about this Loss?" 0

I walked towards Old Peter, furrowing my brow as I asked, "Is he Old Peter?" 0

"Are you here to find him too?" Mona stepped closer to me, turning her head to look at me. "You’re not here for that million, are you?" 0

"Huh? What million?" I turned to Mona. 0

Mona's eyes darted around. "Hey, Chinese Taoist, are you interested in making some money..." 0

She looked at me with a teasing smile on her beautiful face. 0

That smile made me feel a bit hurt; it was as if she were a queen and I was just a commoner in her presence. No, it felt more like I was a pet. 0

I asked again, "A million... pounds?" 0

Mona nodded. "Once the job is done, you get five percent, and I take ninety-five. How does that sound?" 0

"..." I stared at Mona. "You really are fair." 0

Mona smiled apologetically. "I need this money for something important; otherwise, I wouldn't risk coming here to compete." 0

"Ow... ow..." 0

In the corner, Old Peter's corpse began to stir, looking like it was about to break free from the Corpse Fixing Talisman. 0

We had been so engrossed in conversation that we had forgotten about this old zombie. 0

Mona took a step back and said, "Old Peter is already dead. It seems the secret of Avery Manor can only be explored from within the estate." 0

Upon hearing this, I realized we were on the same path. I glanced at Old Peter; his body was already decaying, his clothes hanging loosely on him, and a set of keys dangled from his waist. 0

I thought for a moment, then stepped forward and reached out to unlock the keys. 0

"Be careful," Mona said. Although she was clearly skilled, she didn't understand how to deal with ghosts and monsters. Seeing Loss, she was understandably frightened. 0

I wasn't afraid at all. I managed to unfasten the keyring, which had many keys jingling together. Some of the keys were particularly large; they must have belonged to the estate. 0

After grabbing the keys, I took a quick look around Old Peter but didn't see anything of value. I picked up the Azure Thunder Staff and swung it down towards Old Peter's head. 0

With two loud thuds, the Azure Thunder Staff emitted two bolts of lightning, and then Old Peter's body began to burn fiercely. I quickly placed my hand on him to absorb the Demonic Power emanating from his body. About a minute later, the Demonic Power was stored in my chest. 0

"Ugh... ugh... ugh..." A siren blared outside. 0

It seemed that the neighbors had heard the commotion, gunshots, and flames, so they called the police. 0

As the sirens wailed, there was a loud bang at the door as someone crashed through it. 0

"Run!" Mona grabbed my arm and pulled me toward the back window. When we reached the window, she turned around, lifted me effortlessly, and tossed me out. Then she jumped out after me. 0

I rolled twice upon landing on the ground, feeling frustrated. Did she really have to throw me like that? I could have jumped through that window myself! As I was still grumbling about it, Mona grabbed my arm again and led me away from the backyard. 0

"Bang! Bang!" Gunfire erupted behind us. 0

Bullets struck nearby trees, splintering the bark. 0

Damn, they were really shooting! 0

Mona pulled me into a sprint. Honestly, I was grateful for her grip because she was incredibly fast—completely on par with a top sprinter. Being dragged by Mona, we exited the backyard and rounded a corner into an alleyway. 0

Behind the alley was a dead hutong, and across from it stood a mural sculpture over five meters high. 0

Mona turned around and picked me up again. With a swift motion, she spun around and, using the momentum of her body, launched me into the air like a professional shot putter. 0

I felt myself flying, soaring over the mural before crashing down heavily onto a car behind it. My body landed on the roof of a BMW, setting off its alarm with a series of beeps. 0

I felt frustrated; was there no shred of dignity left for a man? Being tossed around like this was humiliating. But… well, I certainly couldn’t climb that five-meter wall by myself. 0

Before long, Mona, dressed in denim, had scaled the wall and jumped down onto a nearby Peugeot. 0

The Peugeot fared even worse, its roof crumpled down to the seats. 0

“Run!” Mona shouted as she got up and dashed down another path. 0
