On stage, as Wang Han's voice fell, the passionate music erupted. Amidst the music, Piao Duan Diao exclaimed, "Now, let's welcome the two teams for this Opening Match. They are ig and Penguin Entertainment!"
With thunderous applause, the five members of ig, dressed in red and black uniforms, walked onto the stage from backstage. Shortly after ig took the stage, the five members of Penguin Entertainment, sporting uniforms emblazoned with penguin images, followed suit. The two teams stood on stage, waving to the audience below.
Once all the players had appeared, Wang Han glanced at his script and smiled, saying, "Alright, these two teams are quite familiar to everyone. Before we start the match, let's take a look at the interview videos our staff conducted with these players."
The pre-match interview videos were quite common in other competitive events. This was what many referred to as the pre-match trash talk segment. The idea had actually come from Mark's suggestion to Li Hong. The popularity of League of Legends matches meant that pre-match trash talk played a significant role.
For many fans of Goddess Alliance, this pre-match banter could further heighten their anticipation for the match. Sure enough, after Wang Han finished speaking, many insiders perked up; they were eager to see what these players would say during the interview segment.
The big screen began playing previously recorded interview videos. The first player featured was ig's starting Jungle player Ming, also known as Xiao Ming among Goddess Alliance players. Perhaps due to it being his first time in such a setting, Xiao Ming appeared quite reserved and nervous.
When asked by the interviewer for his thoughts on this match, Xiao Ming stammered, "I don't know... maybe we'll win."
As soon as he said this, a wave of good-natured laughter erupted from the audience. Given that there were many players involved, each had only a brief moment of screen time. After Xiao Ming's interview came those of his teammates. The questions posed were similar: asking them for their views on this match.
Compared to Xiao Ming, the other players seemed much more at ease but still somewhat reserved. In response to this pointed question, their answers were mostly similar—just generic phrases about how strong their opponents were and that they would do their best.
Following these rather dull responses was an interview with ig's star mid-laner Position. When Position's face appeared on the big screen, everyone fell silent. They were curious about how Position, the strongest player in the National Server, would respond to this question.
In response to the host's inquiry about his thoughts on this match, Position smiled and said, "No matter what happens, as long as Goddess Alliance exists for a day, we ig will be the strongest team."
The interviewer asked, "Why do you feel that way?"
"Because as long as I'm on ig, we can't possibly lose," Position replied with a smile on his lips.
From his demeanor and actions, everyone could tell that Position was not just boasting; he genuinely possessed an unshakeable confidence. As soon as he finished speaking, cheers erupted from the audience. Position's words were incredibly uplifting; even those who weren't his fans had to admit that what he said was bold.
Scallion laughed heartily while Zhang Mazi looked disappointed by the previous four players' conventional responses but was pleasantly surprised by Position's unexpected confidence.
Xiao Ma Ge crossed his arms thoughtfully and remarked, "This guy talks big. But until they compete head-to-head, we won't know who's stronger."
Li Hong curiously asked Xiao Ma Ge, "Is your mid-laner really up to par?"
Although Li Hong rarely played Goddess Alliance himself, he knew of Position's prowess. While others might view Position's words as arrogant, Li Hong saw them as facts. The title of Mid-Lane Demon King had spread among Goddess Alliance players far and wide. Could godv from Penguin Entertainment really stand up against Position?
Xiao Ma Ge shook his head and replied, "How would I know? I don't keep track of these things; that's managed by professionals at the club. But I can tell you that this Great God is indeed strong."
Hearing this, Scallion leaned in with a grin and said, "Xiao Ma Ge, don't joke around. Position is a mid-lane killer; isn't your Great God just a victim?"
Scallion's comment infuriated Xiao Ma Ge.
Rolling his eyes at Scallion's cheerful demeanor, Xiao Ma Ge grumbled back, "All your chatter doesn't matter; we'll find out who's better once they compete."
"Then let's wait and see," Scallion replied nonchalantly.
Soon after ig's interviews concluded, it was Penguin Entertainment's turn for interviews.
Facing the camera, these young guys appeared somewhat shy and their responses lacked any sharpness. However, just when everyone thought the interviews were over, the camera shifted to a bespectacled chubby guy.
The interviewer asked him directly: "Hello Great God! I'd like to interview you; what are your thoughts on this match?"
Godv replied confidently: "I have no doubts; we will definitely win."
The interviewer paused briefly before pressing further: "Why do you say that? Do you have some secret strategy?"
Godv smirked dismissively: "Position is someone I often solo kill. If he can't beat me, how could ig possibly defeat us at Penguin Entertainment? It's a foregone conclusion."
As soon as he said this, even Li Hong was taken aback.
Who is this unremarkable guy? He frequently solo kills Position? That's shocking!
In various live-streaming rooms' chat sections exploded with comments far more intense than before.
"Inflated ego! You think you can solo kill Position?"
"Exactly! Maybe practice last-hitting against bots before making such claims."
"Who is this guy? Why hasn't anyone shut him up over at Penguin?"
"This guy is so full of himself; he probably doesn't even remember his own name."
"Solo killing Position? He'll probably get schooled by him later."
The chat was filled with mockery and insults directed at godv.
Compared to Position’s established reputation as a superstar player recognized worldwide—godv was merely an unknown newcomer in LPL’s vast sea of talent.
Given these reasons alone made it clear whom people should believe. At least ninety-nine percent of viewers chose to ignore godv’s statements entirely.
Solo killing Position? He should take a good look in the mirror—does he really think he's capable of that?
Amidst all the uproarious insults flooding in from viewers online, a few comments praising godv quickly got drowned out in the overwhelming tide of negativity.
"This guy is strong; I've encountered him in ranked games."
"His LeBlanc really wrecked Position! I witnessed it myself; anyone who says otherwise is lying..."
"This guy is genuinely impressive..."
Unfortunately for those few comments lost amidst countless others—no one paid them any mind.
Even if someone did notice them—they would simply scoff in disbelief.
No one would believe that this guy was anywhere near as strong as he claimed to be.
