Standing at the door, Lin Zhengfeng anxiously opened it and eagerly looked up the stairs.
Li Hong couldn't help but chuckle; this old man was quite amusing. He wondered if the old man would be furious enough to grab a knife when he learned the truth.
Lin Ruxian's mother also came out of the kitchen. It was important to properly greet her granddaughter on her first visit. As for finishing dinner, that could wait.
With expectant eyes, Lin Ruxian appeared at the top of the stairs, holding Yuchen, who looked adorable and beautiful in her white dress.
"This..." Lin Zhengfeng was supposed to be calm, but at that moment, he was completely flustered.
His hands trembled as he stood at the door, staring at Yuchen without daring to speak. What should he do upon seeing Yuchen for the first time?
In contrast to the awkward Lin Zhengfeng, Lin Ruxian's mother clearly had much more experience. She quickly walked up to Lin Ruxian and smiled, saying, "Lin Ruxian, this must be Yuchen?"
"Yes, that's right, Mom. This is Yuchen."
Lin Ruxian nodded at her mother and then turned to Yuchen, saying, "Yuchen, quickly greet your grandmother and grandfather!"
It was unclear what kind of mysterious agreement Lin Ruxian had reached with Yuchen. After Lin Ruxian said this, Yuchen obediently turned to Lin Ruxian's mother and said, "Hello, Grandma."
Even Lin Zhengfeng, who was shivering on the side, heard Yuchen cutely call out "Grandpa."
"Ah, good, good! Come inside quickly, it's so cold out here!" Upon hearing Yuchen call her "Grandma," Lin Ruxian's Mother immediately beamed with joy.
Lin Zhengfeng was no fool; he quickly got into the spirit of things. "Yes, come in quickly. It's so cold outside; we can't let my dear granddaughter freeze!"
Welcoming the two inside, Lin Ruxian's Mother returned to the kitchen with a smile, eager to get busy.
Rarely this happy, she thought it would be nice to prepare a few of her signature dishes for Yuchen to taste her cooking.
Lin Zhengfeng was also not idle. While Lin Ruxian's Mother worked in the kitchen, he busily assisted her. He might not know how to cook, but helping out was no problem at all.
Thus, the couple busied themselves in the kitchen preparing meals, leaving only Li Hong, Lin Ruxian, and Yuchen in the living room.
Knowing that Yuchen hadn't eaten since coming home from school and had now been brought to Lin Ruxian's house, Li Hong gently patted Yuchen's head and asked, "Are you hungry, Yuchen? If you're hungry, Daddy can make you something delicious."
"I'm not hungry," Yuchen shook her head.
Sitting on the sofa beside them, Lin Ruxian saw Li Hong asking if Yuchen was hungry and quickly covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. "This little rascal has been sneaking snacks at home; how could she be hungry?"
Instantly, Yuchen jumped up in protest. "You big bad egg! Didn't you promise to keep it a secret?"
Li Hong rubbed her head to calm the suddenly agitated Yuchen.
Lin Ruxian's words had solved a long-standing mystery for him. Why did all the snacks he brought home always seem to disappear without a trace? Now it was clear: it was undoubtedly Yuchen's doing.
With a stern face, Li Hong said to Yuchen, "You're not being good! Didn't I tell you to eat fewer snacks? If you keep eating so many, I might not buy them next time."
Hearing Li Hong's threat that he wouldn't buy anything next time, Yuchen's face immediately fell. After a long pause, he finally responded with a soft "oh" under Li Hong's persistent questioning.
Seeing Yuchen's sorrowful expression, Li Hong felt quite troubled.
Children have a natural craving for snacks; it's part of their nature. Just like their boundless energy, it cannot be suppressed. However, Yuchen was currently in the teething phase, and consuming too many candies and snacks would do him no good—only harm.
The only thing Li Hong could do was to buy fewer candies and snacks in the future. Completely cutting them off wasn't an option; at this age, if you deny a child all snacks, the consequences could be more severe than one might imagine.
Knowing this, Li Hong's home still kept a supply of candies and snacks.
However, it seemed that snacks were already affecting Yuchen's regular meals. As a responsible father, Li Hong felt he could no longer indulge Yuchen.
Candies had to disappear, and the amount of snacks needed to be halved.
If the situation didn't improve, Li Hong would have to consider a complete ban on these items.
Lin Ruxian had no objections to Li Hong's thoughts. Almost the moment he suggested it, she expressed her agreement.
The only one opposing was Yuchen. Faced with overwhelming odds and knowing his voice as a minor held no weight, Yuchen had no choice but to sadly accept Li Hong's suggestion.
Delicious candies and fragrant snacks would have to say goodbye from now on.

While Li Hong and Lin Ruxian discussed Yuchen's future in the living room, in the kitchen, Lin Zhengfeng and his wife were also engaged in some conversation.
"This girl doesn't look like Lin Ruxian to me," Lin Ruxian's mother said while slicing eggplants to Lin Zhengfeng, who was washing vegetables.
Lin Zhengfeng shook his head and smiled, "What's the big deal? It's normal for a daughter to look like her father rather than her mother. Just look at Lin Ruxian; she looks just like me."
"That's true," Lin Ruxian's Mother remarked. "The girl does resemble Li Hong quite a bit, especially that nose—it's almost identical."
Lin Zhengfeng recalled Yuchen's face, then thought of Li Hong's features, nodding in agreement. "That's right, that nose is definitely like Li Hong's. But if this girl takes after her father, that's really unfortunate. Just look at Li Hong's looks; poor girl..."
"Oh, come on! You can't say that. Lin Ruxian looks just like you, and she certainly isn't unattractive," Lin Ruxian's Mother shot back at Lin Zhengfeng.
Lin Zhengfeng chuckled, "That's because I have good genes! You know I was quite the handsome lad back in my youth, famous around these parts. With looks like mine, how could she turn out badly?"
"Shameless! You only say that to impress me."
After placing the eggplant into the hot oil and stirring it a few times, Lin Ruxian's Mother said to Lin Zhengfeng, "Alright, the dish is almost ready. Go call Lin Ruxian to help me serve the food; it's time to eat."
