The young man sighed and said softly, "There's nothing we can do. Clearly, communication or pressure has failed to achieve our goals."
"I just want to know, what consequences will this bring?" Li Hong asked, his hands trembling.
He understood that the decision from above was beyond his ability to contest. All he could do was cooperate with the plan to the best of his ability. However, at that moment, he felt an immense pressure.
If things escalated, Li Hong would not feel relief at being rescued; instead, he would be engulfed in deep self-reproach.
The young man fell silent. Even he could not provide Li Hong with an answer to that question. No one knew how things would unfold after resorting to unconventional methods; all they knew was that the orders had to be executed.
As a professional, he couldn't fathom why those above would make such an unwise decision. Taking the risk of war to rescue an ordinary person—no matter how advanced that person’s virtual technology was—seemed unwise.
Yet, the young man wouldn’t question why. His mission was always to act according to orders; the word "why" simply did not exist in his dictionary. Perhaps those above had their own considerations; regardless, it was not something he could know.
Thus, faced with Li Hong's inquiry, the young man could only respond with silence.
Li Hong took a deep breath and then asked the young man, "When will this happen?"
"If all goes well, at midnight tonight, we will implement the night raid plan. We will forcefully break through the blockade and escort you to the coast, where the Navy will take you back home," the young man pondered.
This was classified information, but in order to gain Li Hong's cooperation, he had no choice but to inform him of the plan in advance.
Li Hong felt as if he might bite his own teeth off; this truly was an unconventional plan. If they went through with it, it seemed likely that the American Empire would be ready to kill!
However, at this point, Li Hong had no room for compassion.
"Alright, I will prepare in advance. But I have one request: please do not let my wife and child come to harm. I don't know what means you will employ, but please protect us," Li Hong earnestly pleaded.
He knew that from this moment on, the safety of his family rested entirely in these people's hands. If anything went wrong, it would truly be too late for regrets.
The young man understood Li Hong's meaning and nodded gently. "We will try our best to end the conflict quickly and ensure your safety. During this time, please maintain your current state and do not let them see any signs of trouble."
"I understand!" Li Hong nodded firmly.
Finally, the young man added a last piece of advice: "By the way, there are many satellites overhead constantly monitoring this area. Therefore, we can probably only provide one transport vehicle. You should not bring anything else; saving your lives is what matters most."
"Alright, I understand."
"Yes! That's basically it." The young man glanced at the device and continued, "The mission will be carried out by us. Your family only needs to prepare for escape. All dangers will be handled by us, so there's no need to worry."
With that, under Li Hong's surprised gaze, the young man pinched his thumb, and the miniature Electronic Jammer shattered instantly. The room returned to its previous calm.
The old man spoke up, "Prepare the injection. Wang, go heat this syringe with hot water."
The young man nodded and, amidst the sound of rushing water, flushed the shattered pieces of the jammer down the drain.
As for heating the syringe, it was merely a ruse; there was no such thing.
"What about my daughter?" Li Hong turned his gaze towards the feeble Yuchen on the bed, anxiety gnawing at him.
The old man shook his head, frowning as he said, "Mr. Li, I must responsibly inform you that the situation is not optimistic. The patient is suffering from acclimatization issues and has contracted North American Viral Gastroenteritis. The virus is spreading rapidly."
"Is it serious?" Li Hong furrowed his brow.
The young man had returned to his position; since they were discussing the illness, there was no need for him to intervene.
The old man's expression grew grave as he explained, "It is serious in some ways. If timely treatment is not administered, the patient's gastrointestinal system will likely suffer permanent damage, making future eating quite troublesome. However, it's not entirely hopeless; this type of complex viral infection can be perfectly suppressed with a newly produced Antibiotic."
"Then hurry up and use the Antibiotic!"
The old man blinked, his eyes sparkling with intrigue as he replied, "This Antibiotic is currently produced in very limited quantities and is extremely hard to find on the market. We did not bring any with us this time. Mr. Li, don't worry; we will immediately send someone to gather the medication once we return and come back tomorrow to treat your daughter."
"Can Mr. Li afford any delays?"
With that, fearing that Li Hong might not grasp his meaning, the old man kept blinking rapidly.
Li Hong smiled; such an obvious hint was impossible for him to miss. It was common knowledge that someone was eavesdropping nearby. The old man's words were merely a precaution for safety.
The mention of Antibiotic was a ruse; what the old man meant was simple: to relay a false message through those listening outside—that Yuchen's condition was severe and required an extremely rare Antibiotic. This medication would only reach Li Hong by tomorrow.
But Ming... probably would never appear again. Tonight, they were about to execute their plan.
Li Hong guessed their intention to deceive the American Agent; they likely wanted to use this false information to make the outside agents believe that nothing unexpected would happen until tomorrow. Since Yuchen was still critically ill, even if there were any plans, it would be impossible to act at this time.
"No problem, thank you!" Li Hong said with an excited, tearful voice to the others.
It was true, but smiles appeared on the faces of everyone present.
In fact, the old man was not spreading false information as Li Hong imagined. He spoke the truth about Yuchen's condition; even the need for rare Antibiotics was not a fabrication.
Yuchen's illness genuinely required that kind of Antibiotic for treatment. However, before coming here, these highly skilled elders had already guessed Yuchen's specific situation and had prepared this precious Antibiotic in advance. In other words, while the old man did not lie about Yuchen's condition, they had already administered the Antibiotic to him beforehand, and what they brought was merely a grand lie to placate the Americans.
Yuchen's condition was not only being monitored by them; the Americans were also keeping an eye on it. In fact, they already had a clear idea of what methods to use for treatment. The matter of needing rare Antibiotics could not be hidden from the CIA Agent outside; it wouldn't be long before they could confirm the truth of this information.
