Li Hong's home was only a few minutes' drive from Sweet Potato Technology's location in Baisheng Building. Before long, he arrived at Baisheng Building.
As he stepped into the elevator, the first button he pressed was for the twelfth floor.
While Sweet Potato Technology was important, he had at least left some instructions before leaving. Since he had managed to get through this period, it wouldn't hurt to check in a little later.
However, what weighed heavily on his mind was his brother company, Sweet Potato Films, located on the twelfth floor of Baisheng Building. He couldn't help but wonder how Charlie had been managing Sweet Potato Films during the past half month that he hadn't been around.
In truth, after the members of Soul Clan were sent to the Virtual Helmet manufacturing factory, Sweet Potato Films had become much simpler. Now, Sweet Potato Films was increasingly resembling a legitimate Film Company, no longer resembling the Amateur Troupe it once was.
Upon entering the twelfth floor of Baisheng Building, Li Hong was greeted by the large LED wall of Sweet Potato Films. Below the LED wall was the reception area.
Shaking his head, Li Hong couldn't help but chuckle. The previous version of Sweet Potato Films certainly didn't have such a setup. It seemed that during his absence, Charlie had accomplished quite a lot!
The person responsible for reception at Sweet Potato Films was a strikingly attractive woman. Even with Li Hong's discerning eye, she could be considered a rare beauty, easily scoring an eighty out of a hundred for her looks and figure.
However, Li Hong wasn't interested in flirting; he was eager to see the new changes at Sweet Potato Films.
Li Hong's reluctance to engage with others didn't mean that this receptionist would allow a stranger to just waltz into their company.
The receptionist knew that they were a well-known Film Production Company in the industry, with countless stars and big shots inside. There were numerous paparazzi trying to sneak in and take photos without permission.
As the front desk receptionist, she had been informed on her first day that no one without an appointment could enter except for company personnel.
Now, there was an audacious guy who completely ignored her role as both receptionist and gatekeeper and attempted to barge into the company—what a slap in the face!
"Hey, you there! Stop right there!"
Hearing the shout from behind him, Li Hong paused and turned curiously to look at the receptionist. "Hey? Are you calling me 'old man'?"
The receptionist shot him an incredulous glance. "Who else would I be calling? You really think you're something special, huh? I've caught plenty of paparazzi here, but I've never seen anyone as bold as you. You actually dared to ignore me and try to break into our company?"
After hearing the girl's words, Li Hong suddenly realized that she must have misunderstood something.
So, he quickly explained, "No, I think you misunderstood. I'm not an outsider as you might think; I'm the owner of this company. My name is Li Hong. If you don't believe me, just call your manager out, and you'll see."
Since they were all part of the same family, and considering that this girl was just doing her job diligently, Li Hong had no interest in embarrassing his own employee.
It was crucial to clarify the misunderstanding before it escalated. As for hiding his identity and then being discovered by the general manager during a confrontation with security—only a foolish protagonist from some online novel would do something like that.
Sure enough, after Li Hong revealed his identity, the girl immediately covered her mouth in surprise. She wasn't foolish; since he was standing right at their company's entrance, it was highly likely that he was telling the truth. If he were a fraud, calling the manager would quickly reveal that.
Thinking this through, the girl hurriedly said to Li Hong, "Sir, please wait a moment. I'll call our manager right now. Until we confirm your identity, please don't make things difficult for us."
"Okay, no problem," Li Hong replied awkwardly.
This was part of her job responsibilities; he couldn't blame her for that. Besides, it was clear that the receptionist was new and didn't recognize him as the biggest boss, which was perfectly normal. Li Hong wasn't a narrow-minded person who would hold it against her.
Not long after she finished the call, a man in a suit walked out.
With his slicked-back hair and flamboyant appearance, Li Hong almost didn't recognize Charlie at first.
Raising his hand to shield his eyes from Charlie's flashy look, Li Hong couldn't help but ask with a mix of amusement and disbelief, "What happened to you? It's only been half a month since we last met, and you've learned to spruce yourself up?"
"Boss, are you making fun of me? That's not fair! I didn't choose this outfit; I was forced into it. The company has grown so much now that I have to entertain countless guests. If I don't dress well, how can I manage?" Charlie explained while shaking his head.
Then Charlie turned to the anxious receptionist beside him and said, "Wang, this is our chairman at Sweet Potato Films. You better remember this next time. If you stop our boss again in the future, you might end up in trouble."
Li Hong shot Charlie an annoyed glance and reassured the girl, "Don't listen to him; you're doing great. This is a good thing! Why would I blame you? Keep up the good work, and I'll give you a raise!"
The receptionist, who had been feeling uneasy after hearing Charlie's words, suddenly brightened up after Li Hong spoke. "Thank you, Chairman!" she exclaimed.
This truly was an unexpected delight. Not only did she manage to stop her own chairman without any repercussions, but getting a raise on top of that made her feel like her boss was genuinely a great person!
Little did Li Hong know that his casual remark had significantly boosted his favorability in the receptionist's eyes.
At that moment, he was walking inside the company alongside Charlie.
Thinking about the adorable receptionist, Li Hong praised Charlie, who was walking ahead, saying, "You really know how to pick them. Now we even have a receptionist who looks like she could be a star. You have no idea; when I saw that we had a receptionist at our company, my jaw almost dropped to the floor."
Although he knew Li Hong was joking, Charlie still explained earnestly, "Boss, we should have set up a receptionist long ago. In the past, when our relationships in the entertainment industry were poor and no one came to visit us, it didn't matter if we had a receptionist or not. But now that we are operating normally, we do need to have some essential personnel in place."
"Yeah, I get that."
Li Hong understood that Charlie was speaking the truth. Previously, Sweet Potato Films had enemies everywhere; having a receptionist wouldn't have made much difference. But things were different now. Sweet Potato Films was starting to operate like a normal film company, and it was necessary to have the right personnel in place.
However, Li Hong couldn't help but tease, "But there was no need to hire such a beautiful girl as the receptionist! Come on, do you have some unhealthy thoughts?"
Charlie's eyes nearly popped out of his head as he quickly shook his head in denial. "No, no, no! Boss, if you're enjoying yourself, don't drag me into this. This beautiful receptionist is something we learned from our peers in the industry. After all, we are a film company; we need some attractive faces to make a good impression."
