Situ Yu was the brother of Flower Snow Moon, which explained why both of them possessed such stunning beauty. Unfortunately, from Situ Yu's tone, it seemed that their relationship was not as harmonious as one might expect. Every unfortunate family had its own troubles, and Jufeng did not wish to delve into the reasons behind this. After all, surviving was what mattered most.
Due to weather conditions, flights from the north had been significantly delayed, so by the time the plane arrived in the capital, dusk had already fallen. The thick clouds made the onset of night feel even more abrupt.
Jufeng could not reach Flower Snow Moon, but Situ Yu knew where she was. However, after discussing with Jufeng, he found it puzzling why Flower Snow Moon had been able to alert him at the onset of danger while he himself had suddenly gone missing.
He had never doubted his sister's abilities; he never would.
Under Situ Yu's guidance, Jufeng and his group of four quietly entered a secluded area. It was a tranquil neighborhood, and Situ Yu pointed out the location of a particular villa. As for how to infiltrate it, that responsibility fell to Jufeng.
The group appeared to wander casually through the area. Now that the lights were coming on, they still could not conceal the darkness lurking in some corners. After assessing the situation, Jufeng bid farewell to Situ Yu and Tong Bailong and planned to sneak in with Wenming, who was more agile.
In a corner of the villa, shadows danced lightly. Jufeng gazed at the illuminated second floor nearby, feeling a stir within him.
"I have a feeling that someone in that room across is waiting for me; there's an unsettling emotion about it. What do you think?"
Wenming's figure hid deeper in the shadows. "I’m not sure; we’ll find out once we go in."
"Alright, let’s go."
As soon as he finished speaking, their figures vanished from sight. Interestingly enough, at that very moment yesterday, another person had quietly visited this villa.
Great minds think alike; that was essentially what it meant.
The guards at the villa were fewer than usual, allowing Jufeng and Wenming to slip into one side of the building without much effort. Jufeng reached a corner of the wall, crouched on one leg with his hands crossed over his bent knee. Wenming placed his foot on Romain's knee and then both exerted force simultaneously; Wenming's figure swiftly ascended to the second floor. Afterward, Wenming turned back and extended his hand outward. Jufeng leaped from his position, his palm meeting Wenming's in mid-air. With a gentle pull from Wenming, another figure joined him on the upper floor.
Easily reaching the second floor, Jufeng and Wenming leaned against the wall and approached a window where Flower Snow Moon worked. Romain gestured slightly before taking the lead and opening the window.
A rush of night wind swept into the room, causing the curtains to flutter wildly.
"It’s been a while; I didn’t expect to see you here again."
As Jufeng had just landed, a somewhat familiar voice echoed through the room. He focused his gaze and saw, deep within the room, Politeness leisurely sipping tea, while Flower Snow Moon stood nearby, looking somewhat dejected. It wasn’t until she caught sight of Jufeng that her expression brightened slightly.
Politeness had sharper senses than Flower Snow Moon and was naturally quicker in her movements. Just as Flower Snow Moon was about to exchange a few words with Jufeng, Politeness darted forward.
With a quick step on the floor, Politeness instantly closed the distance to Jufeng, her movements swift and precise as she launched an attack. Although Jufeng was not as fast as Politeness, the difference was minimal, allowing him to react effectively. He leaned back slightly, arms crossed protectively over his chest, and instead of retreating, he advanced toward Politeness. In their last encounter, it was precisely this unpredictable movement and technique from Jufeng that had caused Politeness considerable trouble. However, now she found no better way to counter and continued with her assault.
Neither gained an advantage in their exchange; they merely swapped positions.
Politeness turned around, facing Jufeng with her back to the window, a challenging look on her face as she said, "Do you still want me to beat you down?"
Jufeng did not seem angered by her words; perhaps he simply didn’t care about Politeness's threat. Instead, he continued walking toward Flower Snow Moon as if nothing were amiss, openly exposing his back to his opponent.
"No, this time you won’t have the chance."
Politeness froze for a moment at those words, her heart tightening. The muscles in her legs tensed suddenly, and she felt a cold sweat trickle down her back instinctively.
The curtains blown by the wind gradually returned to their previous stillness, revealing someone hiding behind them—a gunman and another person.
Civilization did not fire the gun, but even the mere act of raising it made Politeness hesitate to move. It seemed like a scene from the past when Flower Snow Moon had held a gun without being able to control the bullets properly. The old act was playing out once more, but the outcome was entirely different this time.
Seeing this unfold, Flower Snow Moon rarely smiled brightly and teased, "I didn’t expect you, Politeness, to have such luck. It seems you have a benefactor helping you again."
The latter part of her statement was directed at Jufeng.
Upon hearing this, Politeness relaxed her tense nerves slightly and shrugged. "In this line of work, one always has to pay back their debts. But really, can’t you treat your benefactor better?"
"Benefactor,?"
Jufeng noticed the subtle meaning in the conversation between the two and exchanged a questioning glance with the graceful Flower Snow Moon. After receiving her consent, he allowed Civilization to lower his gun.
"Civilization, my brother."
Jufeng introduced Civilization to Flower Snow Moon, who nodded politely at him. Civilization returned the gesture but seemed to disregard Politeness entirely.
Civilization holstered his gun, and Politeness discreetly adjusted his breathing, keeping his gaze fixed on Civilization. Upon hearing that Civilization was indeed his name, he felt a slight pang in his heart and quickly interjected, "Your name is Civilization? What a coincidence. Hello, I'm Politeness."
It felt as if five hundred lifetimes of glances had led to this fleeting encounter in this life—a destined connection that evoked a sense of nostalgia. With Politeness's hint, Jufeng and Flower Snow Moon realized the amusing coincidence between the two and couldn't help but smile at each other, lightening the previously tense atmosphere.
After their laughter subsided, Flower Snow Moon and Jufeng explained why Politeness was there, though they refrained from mentioning how they had used a little trick to help him make a decision.
"You want to switch sides; what about the grudge from when you hit me before?"
Politeness paused at this remark, thinking that since he couldn't beat him now, he replied defiantly, "If you can hit back, then go ahead. But let's be clear—switching sides means something different; don't be too self-absorbed."
Jufeng chuckled knowingly, seemingly recognizing Politeness's cleverness. He glanced at Civilization and said meaningfully, "I can't do it alone, but I have my brother."
Politeness felt deflated upon hearing this.
At this point, Jufeng suddenly remembered something and asked Civilization to go out and bring in those two people. When Flower Snow Moon saw Situ Yu, she didn't react much and certainly didn't feel the need to express any false gratitude toward Jufeng.
Jufeng had always been puzzled as to why Flower Snow Moon hadn't left the capital to join them in Yang City or Washing City. After pondering for a moment, she informed Jufeng that Elder Ju was no longer around. Previously, Politeness had only listened during an investigation; however, Flower Snow Moon had already confirmed it. The Unification Alliance had somehow acquired one-third of the thirty percent shares held by Father Ju, while the remaining portion remained unclaimed due to unclear inheritance rights.
Jufeng was taken aback by this revelation and felt somewhat lost until Flower Snow Moon reminded him that he should return to pay a visit.
Before he died, he never got to see him even once. Although Jufeng had a strained relationship with his father, blood is thicker than water, and how could he not feel heartbroken?
Leaving the others behind, Jufeng and Flower Snow Moon drove to his father's home in the capital. On the way, Flower Snow Moon, worried that Jufeng might be too sad, brought up other topics to divert his attention.
"Without your permission, I went ahead and reached an agreement with Politeness. Is that okay?"
Jufeng clearly lacked enthusiasm and replied in a somewhat hoarse voice, "It's fine. Although he injured me last time, there was no intent to kill. It's just the rebellious choice of passionate youth. For someone like him, there’s no real benefit involved; it’s just for fun. It won’t be easy for us to keep him around."
Flower Snow Moon nodded and discussed the situation in Hua Gang. It had already lost most of its strength; with the leader trapped on the grasslands, it seemed likely that it would soon be destroyed.
Upon hearing about the Unification Alliance, a fierce anger ignited in Jufeng's eyes. If his father truly died because of them, they should brace themselves for his revenge.
He would make them understand that a madman can be terrifying when pushed too far.
